This was well before we came into any PSR/FFP troubles given he was among the first signings in the Clearlake era. 

Much like the same trouble we have in keeping our youth players, once an agent gets in their ear its beyond our control.

I am not convinced he wants to leave. We bumped his wages from £15k/w to £100k/w, and still has 4 1/2yrs to go. He just has to turn up for training and stay in shape. Easiest gig ever.

Its very obvious that he's not playing at the request of the directors over actual ability though. Palmer was as much as an unknown as Chuk would be. Newcastle rumoured to be happy to let Tonali go. Following the success they've had with Hall and Livramento and the fees paid for them with minimal exposure in the league its certainly not as wild as you make out. 

Forest paid 40M for Elliott Anderson FFS.

No one is saying that is worth though, it’s how much the market is willing to pay for him. If he was getting PL mins here and there, no questions we will get £40m+. As things stand he is surplus to demand. Another thing to be considered is most of the big money deals happen within the PL, because PL clubs are flush with cash. 
£40m is also a huge fee in the present market, I am not sure there were up to 15 deals above that deal in the summer window in/out of the PL. 

Maresca mentioning him and Chilwell confirms the obvious the me, the club are looking to move them on in January.

When you look at the list of players who went for £35m+ in the summer, and consider how Carney might stack up against some of the names in there, then I think you can see why we might be holding out for the £40m release clause.

You'd think Maresca might try a big gamble and, if we are struggling, bring him on between the 72nd and 76th minute.

Would be good if someone could take the battery out of Maresca's watch just after halftime. Would he know what to do? Might have time his substitutions by the position of the sun........ which is practically impossible in the UK. Even in summer!

We had a weaker bench than usual against Fulham. If we hadn't frozen out Chukwuemeka and Chilwell, they could have easily improved that bench.

Heard a whisper that he’s off to Newcastle for the release clause if they can get some fringe players away like Almiron.

Was still a great bench compared to most of last season.

Maresca had plenty of options ... but agree if it had Chukwuemeka and Chilwell on it (instead of say George and Bettinelli) the bench would have had even more good options for him not to use 🙂 .

We will get £40 million for him.

Would prefer to keep Carney and get rid of Gooseberry-Fool.

Saw Dortmund linked with him this morning, would be such a logical move for him and he’d flourish and then return to the PL in 2-3 seasons a 100M + player.

Problem is they are only interested in a loan deal and wont go near the £40m we are demanding. Dembele is still their record transfer at €35m, paid €30m for Bellingham, and far less for Halaand.

Still feel the £40m fee they are after is a pipe dream.

6 month loan could be good for all parties. 

Chukwuemeka would dominate at Dortmund, similar profile to what they had in Bellingham. 6 months over there could make his value sky rocket, or better yet stop the SD's from wanting to sell him for profit.

I'd prefer that. I would like him to go there, prove how good he is and then come back and force his way into the team. I feel like it will just be another Maatsen situation though.

Rumour is he will go to Strasbourg on a 6 month loan which means we have to recall one of Santos, Petrovic or Wiley.

Carney needs to play if we want top dollar.

Chuckled when I saw the Strasbourg loan move, like the Celtic one would be a backwards move. Seems the player is comfortable and isn’t pushing for a permanent move away.
