Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"

I reckon the deal with end up being 95mill up front and 15mill in add ons.

5mill of the add ons for something basically Brighton are certain will happen, such as we stay up and are PL team for the 2024/25 season.

5million they are confident will happen. Such as in any season Caicedo is with us we qualify for the CL.

5mill that is much harder to get but is a bonus if it happens. Like in any season Caicedo is with us we win either the PL or CL.

Rice isn’t even close to £100 million arsenal paid £50 million too much, same with Enzo and Mudryk we payed £50 million too much and we will do the same for Moises. We will pay £50 million too much for him!!

This is unsustainable and it’s a house of cards that will come crashing down at some point.

Osimhen? He's had one decent season in Serie A.

Which is why I said TODAY worth that TODAY he may not replicate that next season then it’s only Halaand and Mbappe left. He took Napoli to their first title in decades!!

You haven't made any point or I don't understand you.

No one wants to pay over the top for any player, the market determines how much you pay for a player.

On Tchouameni, many clubs don't have a problem if Real Madrid is doing well, so they even sell players cheaply to them. But assuming it was Chelsea that wanted to buy a player, and the player has a good contract with them, they will sell to Chelsea at a very high price because no one wants Chelsea to do well.

I can't see any club deliberately selling cheaply to Real Madrid .. And a club who doesn't need to sell, and a club eager to buy will always see a higher asking price..

But Serie A though? Debatable the quality he's up against in that league. Prem is a clear step up I'd say.

Tight hamstring. dont want to risk him before next Sat. Dont read too much into this.

If he really is injured then it's nailed on that we get him.

And not straight into the first team but straight into the hands of the medical team.

🤪

Sorry but I have no idea what sort of point you are trying to make. Are you saying buying Caicedo is a good or bad deal. Is he cheap or expensive. If he is expensive is it because Arsenal paid 105m for Rice, we paid 105m for Fernandez, we paid 97.5m for Lukaku or Man Utd paid 90m for Pogba. As Rice is the only English one here is that who is being overhyped and all the others good value? I'm a little confused.

I do think we overpaid for Enzo and I haven't seen much to justify it. I expect pretty much the same from Caicedo as well. But if Pochettino gets a tune out of this lot as a group,  plays great football and we win the league I won't give a sh*t tbh, I'll just be punching in my chelsea shirt happy in the knowledge that we're the best in the league.

I see this as a deadline day job. Brighton will want and get their asking price, but they’ll drag it out to ensure we don’t get the advantage of having him get any pre-season at all with us and go without him for the first few games as well.

Going back to that Brighton fan preview piece in the Guardian. He even said something about us being “nearly as annoying as Palace”. They do seem to have concocted a rivalry of sorts in their heads.

The only players who are worth £100 million or close to it today are Mbappe, Halaand and Osimhen because they are match winners game changers, everyone else is just overpriced.

Barring a release clause or 1 year left of their contract bidding for any of them start at £200m.

There's definitely something odd about Brighton & Hove FC. I suppose it stems from the fact the rest of the football league consider them an irrelevance so they're trying to manufacture a sense of place - all feels a bit plastic though. Verging on desperation.

I must admit that the most exciting thing about last season was the deadline day last minute signing of Enzo, I couldn't sleep afterwards what with the adrenaline rush 😂

I'm already looking forward to January with excited anticipation

Oh god no, not another 73 new players in January :steaming:

Well, if we weren't constantly sniffing around their club for their staff and players I'm sure their fans would have nothing to say about us .

I'm sure we would react similarly if it was the other way round

It’s nothing to do with being an English player tax, don’t be so silly, it’s everything to do with Rice being proven premier league level, Caicedo has one season under his belt and would be a bigger gamble, in todays market 80m is about right.

We'll have to disagree on this one. Harrry Maguire is also a proven PL defender and untouchable in the NT. Does this make him a top CB? I'm afraid not. He is a buffoon and a ticking bomb everytime he touches the ball. Fortunately for him there is a bigger clown on the bench who picks him ebery match. You and me both are amateurs with a pair of amateur eyes, so are most of the fans, but we're not blind. As I said, IMHO, Declan Rice is an average defensive midfielder not worth more than 40M given the quality of other affordable midfielders around the world.

Will be on all media platforms as £110m and record for midfielder. I only hope it’s less than Rice, will vastly cut the pressure on the lad and also the rest of the team/manager. Sounds crazy, but even £1m less is fine

Caicedo and Enzo live up to their potential and stay here for 10+ years then 200m for the pair will look like peanuts.

Really? In what planet?

What you need to know is that if they live up to their potential one of the big 2 in Spain come for them and with players from a South American background, that is the pinnacle of their career. They genuinely dreamed about playing for those clubs as kids so it's a foregone conclusion that if they live up to their potential and one of the big 2 come for them, they go.

All you can hope for is that in that time we win something but no chance they stay 10+ years with good performance.

Mate they are all average overpriced players. With the exception of Mbappe and Haaland every one else is a five minute millionaire.

But all the time Sky pump money into this overhyped product, then people will continue to invest millions and thanks to agents these players continue to get massively overhyped and overpaid.

Still it gets the likes of you and me typing pointless comments on forums like this.

Ironic that Rice was so proud of being one of only three West Ham captains to lift a European trophy before he left for £105m. Ironic because one of those captains also happens to be the most celebrated captain this country has had and he ended up having to sell his medals.

So no, it's all sh*t. They are all over rated, over paid and over hyped. But its all we have now.

Well anyway if Caicedo comes who will he replace in say the team that started against Dortmund?

I guess most everyone else will say Gallagher but I would be tempted to say Enzo. I don't see that Enzo playing further forward achieves very much. The guy can't shoot at all, and not that quick at tracking back. He will be in the team for his distribution I suppose. Is it enough? I defer to the tactical experts as despite watching the game for 60 years I will honestly admit there are bits I don't understand.

Would Gallagher and Caicedo work together better than Caicedo and Enzo. In the alternative what does Caicedo bring that Gallagher doesn't? A better tackler? A better runner with the ball? A better passer? Surely not a better shooter.

it will still be like peanuts if someone wants to buy them on 7 year contracts,we will make massive profits..🙂
