Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"

All I've seen from Caicedo so far this season is:

- The worst debut I've ever seen in a Chelsea shirt
- Incredibly slow on the ball, even his actual passes are generally slow paced
- Presses way too high and is easily bypasses and always running back
- Gives away lots of stupid fouls
- Hides and doesn't show for the ball a lot of the time (E.g. when CBs have the ball, he is nowhere to be seen as a passing option)

Overall, I am incredilly disappointed. But what was I expecting, really? Every signing except Palmer this ownership has made, has been awful.

We have to accept that at some point it's not the players we are signing.

These are players who have performed well elsewhere, who multiple clubs wanted.

Is it time? Is it coaching? Is it the manager? I don't know. But im so fatigued with our club I'm barely even bothering to watch games.

This 100% how can every player we sign who were outstanding in a different team lose their talent by moving to Chelsea doesn’t make any sense at all.

This is a completely new clubs new structure every player is practically new unless you give them a few seasons we will be stuck in this mess and cycle. I keep saying fans need to reset their expectations for the new few years because if they don’t you will be disappointed on a weekly basis.

Both Jude and Rice would look exactly the same in this dysfunctional Team, this is a team issue not an individual issue. They don’t know to play as a team because they are strangers put together less than 5 months ago.

I agree with you about the tactical understand and team play. But there are some basics in individual level and our players failing to deliver it.

They are failing to deliver because they literally don’t know each other and looked strange together.

Did the players we sign look outstanding at their previous clubs?

How many players have we signed that had 2+ good seasons in their entire careers before coming here?

Not many.

If you look at Brigthon, the midfield don't work in isolation, they are very close to each other. It's very well structured.

The only time I saw Enzo+Caicedo function that way was against Fulham and Arsenal, arguably their best performances of the season.

There is no magic. You want your midfield two to be tight. Whoever in front of them need to run, whoever play on their side need to run.

Hmm.

Kai can't score for us can't score for arse.

Jorgi can't protect backline for us, can't protect backline for arse.

Mount not a great creator for us, can't create for United.

All false claims, every single one of them. Stop posting garbage.

You can see why Klopp is so loved at Liverpool.

He came out today and said something along the lines of " there were two midfielders we tried to get in the summer, and thankfully for us they did not come, this is better".

Lol such a WUM.

To be fair to Liverpool, they got a reliable 30 years of Japanese international for a fraction of what they would have paid for Levia ( let alone Caicedo). He's fit and doesn't look off color for the team. I don't think he's on top tier salary either, you get 2-3 good years out for him that's probably 5-6M per year over the length of the contract, bargain🙄

He is. Only Rodri has better retention metrics than him as a DM.

This honestly could be another Bissouma scenario where he'll need a season settled before finding his old form. Think coaching will also play a big part.

What metrics are used for ball retention?

Statistically speaking his Per90 metrics are pretty similar to what they were at Brighton last year. Are we just waiting for something that isn't going to happen?

He is just salty. Klopp like to  nonsense.

I love when klopp talk about football tactics, it is very enlightening. His first mnf changed a lot of my perspectives when looking at the game.

But other than that it is usually nonsense

I watched yesterday Man City's reserve team in the CL, their second keeper is also a bargain he can pass the ball better than ours and their full-backs also look like they could easily play for us every week. If your scouting is good + you got some good coaching going on you don't need to spend 250+ million at all like our team did but our scouting is poor and we can't even compensate with signing the best possible targets cause our coaching is bad too.

Opta measures it as successful passes when under pressure.

In possession, Caicedo’s ball-retention ability is very strong in a Brighton side that dominate the ball. His 88.9% pass accuracy was behind only Rodri among all midfielders in the league, and he is highly accurate over short (92.5%), medium (90.5%) and long (79.2%) distances.

This tidiness with the ball is a very important aspect of Caicedo’s game, given he often acts as the first receiver from Brighton’s centre-backs as they build-up from the back.

Pivots receiving the ball directly from central defenders get pressured heavily and regularly, and Caicedo was no different last season, coming under direct pressure 23.5 times per game, more than any other Brighton player.

Close control and ability to work in tight spaces is crucial, and Caicedo demonstrated comfort under duress frequently last season. He was always willing to receive the ball from Brighton’s defenders with opponents around him, often positioning himself in between attacking players to receive a line-splitting pass.

His 86.0% passing accuracy when under pressure from an opponent was behind only Rodri (again) and Enzo Fernández (his future teammate, perhaps?)

Caicedo's response to Klopp's comments:

"I chose Chelsea because I was talking with them first and then it was impossible not to choose them. They were with me, supporting me because in the summer I suffered a lot because it was complicated to leave Brighton.

They were with me. In the last moment, Liverpool called me but it was late. It was too late, you know? I wanted to play for Chelsea and the people that worked here were with me through every moment and it was tough to say no to Chelsea.

It's Chelsea, you know. At Chelsea, you always have to win every game and if you don't, you'll feel the pressure. I've only been here for four months, everything is new for me and I think it's about time. It'll take time because I know my quality, I know my teammates and it'll be our time."

He also spoke about how he likes the relation with Poch and how everything is easier. Bottom line, Klopp is always bitter.

All great reading but right now Klopp is laughing 'cos it looks like the dippers dodged a bullet. Caicedo MIGHT come good, but right now he looks bang average whereas that horrible lot are sitting top of the league.
