I still see the same lacking elements to his game, but he has been better than I expected. Certainly a player we should keep in the starting lineup.

Bring under the learning tree of Silva c help a lot, hopefully Colwill gets a year of it before Silva leaves.

I like fofana too but i do think Badiashile has being overlooked slightly due to others being more expensive. I would say thus far Badiashile has performed better than koulibaly and fofana. His potential is tremendous and am excited to see him next season.

Both excellent players IMO. Fofana is more of an athlete. He can carry the ball higher up the pitch in a similar fashion to what we saw Jon Stones do last night for Citeh. His last ditch defensive blocks are also superb, reminds me of Gary Cahill in that aspect of defending. Hopefully both of them can stay fit and play for us for years to come.

I rate Fofana but on the ball I don't think he's nearly as good as Stones. Fofana makes me a bit nervous on the ball tbh and Stones could genuinely be a full time midfielder.

 

How about a back 4 next season of Fofana at right back, Chalobah right centre back, Badiashile left centre back and Colwill at left back ?

Smallest guy 6'2" and all of them good on the ball. 

Fofana I reckon might make a decent full back option with his ability to bring the ball forward. No idea what his crossing might be like though.

I'm assuming James and Chilwell are injured of course 🙂

Played with four centre backs against Bayern Munich in 2005 Huth, Terry, Carvalho, Gallas it was because of injuries or suspensions but we didn't exactly look rock solid.

I'd do James/Gusto Fofana Badiashile Colwill. On the ball, James/Gusto drift into midfield and Colwill slots in a back 3.

I wonder if Frank's been trying to give opportunities to Chalobah so that he can prove he's worthy of a spot in the squad going forwards, and Badiashile has been left out a few times because of that?

Personally, I really rate both BB and Trev, but BB's going nowhere, he's on an 8 year contract - Trev's future however is less certain. The game time he's been given these past few weeks has let him show his versatility (has played on the left and right of a three, and as a right back in a four), strength, speed, and defensive abilities. Even if he's deemed surplus to requirements by the next manager, at the very least he's had his value increased a fair bit by starting a lot of recent games over a CB who has plenty of time to make a mark here.

Trev will be a back up/utility player for Pochettino if he stays. Badiashile a probable starter, unless Colwill is picked ahead of him.

I would guess the back 4 options are these:

 

James or Gusto

Fofana or Chalobah

Badiashile or Colwill

Chilwell or Cucurella or Maatsen (if Cucurella leaves)

I think Silva goes back to Brazil this summer, and we try and return Koulibaly to Italy if we can get a good loan few or close to 26mill in a transfer.

Not at all. He went through a period in his younger days where his touch and control was regularly called into question by pundits and the media due to him losing possession when carrying the ball in dangerous areas.

Interesting. I remember the praises he was getting at Everton for his passing ability and the notion he could replace Terry. I also remember a few fans dismissing Stones given the season Christensen was having at Gladbach and his ball playing praises there.

People said the same thing about Stones when he was at Everton and Mourinho tried to sign him. Now the same commentators are lining up to fellate him. 

As it turns out, most players get better with experience and good coaching - who knew!

I think Fofana has much more potential than Kounde and i'm glad we chose him, but Kounde is much more refined on the ball and I think that comes from the fact he's had a steady role and good attacking coaching. You can see Fofana's potential but there's a ways to go.

Will be back in September so not terrible. Gives Colwill the chance to solidify a starting spot.

I am very happy that we didn't get Kounde. He was completely destroyed by half fit 50 years old di maria in final.

Lamp has tendency to overtrain player. 

The injury toll predates Lampard.

Going to be that type of summer. Contradictions.

Getting ridiculous.

We likely need to replace and rebuild again the medical and fitness departments with people who know about the kicking kind of football.

We desperately need everybody here and ready for pre-season and it's looking like some of them will be missing out.
