Benoît Badiashile joins Chelsea

Ask any Chelsea fan here and the majority would say they'd want Fofana+Badiashile as their CB pairing. Some exclusive would say Badiashile + Colwill.

Loads of us have been vocal of this being the perfect summer to let Silva go and its hardly unsurprising he's the common denominator in us conceding 60% of our 2004/2005 goals in the last 3 matches alone.

He's f**king 40.

But I think you're also making @Whats_The_Mata? case here as well. Just rating Fofana as our main CB when he has done absolutely nothing in a Chelsea shirt. Okay, he can't help getting injured but reputations should be built on the pitch not on this fabled potential that rarely comes to fruition. Even  if we take your point on Silva, who in a Chelsea shirt has proven, physically proven that they are more qualified currently to start ahead of him.

Too many of our players gain mythical abilities and status when theyre not playing and then fail to deliver when on it. Often we make excuses about being subs and not getting a chance, but thats how you should be working your way onto the pitch. Why did Badiashile get thrown into this game now, why was he not eased in and made to prove his worth ahead of others. Im not picking on him, but it seems to be a trend.

Badi 1st real 90 min after long break, struggle at time. Normal stuff. Next

So why do that after an international break against a CL contender. Surely you play him the last 30 and ease him in to see what he's got.

I've been advocating Badiashile+Colwill partnership since early last summer which I doubt we will ever come to see into fruition. Fofana seems to be the genuine consensus in some for RCB but like you I haven't seen enough of him to claim that.

It makes 0 sense to invest in these young players and contiune to label this as a project when the one player who will likely not be here next season, and is f**king 40 years old, continues to start and give away errors. At the very least we should be building a partnership for the future right now vs having to press restart and do it next year.

Thiago made a horrible error yesterday for sure, but I think it is harsh to say he is making continual errors. That being said I do agree that we should be playing Thiago more sparingly at his age. I cannot see him being at the club next season so we should already be planning ahead and prioritizing the future first choice CB pairing.

I think the favoritism Silva gets in this point in time is now over the top. Heads in the sand for some. He isn't head and shoulders above any defender anymore and I've made my case how there is enough evidence to suggest he's among the most culpable. He's 40. His body isn't the same and he questions his judgement all the time. It's normal and its our fault to keep on playing him.

I think we throw him in at the wrong game, but again I don't know the availability of other defenders after the mad international break. It's a no brainer to phase out Silva , but then again who actually stepped up this season and available every week?

Colwill is way better than Badiashile on the ball from what I have seen, likes getting up to the half way line and beyond and has enough pace. And why Disasi was dropped is a complete f***ing mystery.

When Silva goes, which should be soonish if not already we need one defender who is a distributor and gets attacks started after the obligatory minute passing round at the back. Disasi is a crap distributor, Badisahile has not shown much, correct me if I'm wrong, but Colwill can.

Maybe I'm misreading this. Happy to be corrected.

I think you're judging Badiashile on very little football and a first start for months in particular.

1st start in 6 months and away to Newcastle. 😂

The criticism he's been getting have been well OTT. We probably are in for another CB to fill the void of Silva+Chalobah leaving.

Actually I'm not. I am using that game and what I saw of him before the injury. He is a good strong defensive player. He doesn't appear to me to be the defensive ball player that starts attacks. The defensive coordinator if you will.

However it's certainly true that I haven't seen enough of him to be sure of that. Its also very fair to say that away against Newcastle in first game back is tough.

Mind you we've seen next to nothing of Colwill playing at left centre back either.

He really shouldn't have started the game. Why not bring him on after 60 minutes, that's what he did with Broja. Both Colwill and Disasi are available. The bigger point is that we are screwing things up by moving all the pieces around the defensive board to fit Silva in. That is a losing strategy full stop. Very little different to United starting Ronaldo.

6 months out with injury, first full 90 back and shock horror he wasn't great and everyone has forgot his level pre-injury.

Business as usual on ShedEnd, time to move on to another thread before i say something i regret.

I find it easier just to log out and find some Kafka online to bemuse me.

This place is ridiculous now with the absurd takes, knee jerk reactions, massively over the top negativity and an effort to prove they are the bestest fan because they hate everything Chelsea the most. Its turning it Twitter with the moronic nonsense unfortunately. The Reece James thread is absolutely embarrassing after he made a mistake, incredible.

A thousand likes. Unfortunately the software doesn't allow it.

I'll always stand by my hypothesis that the Chelsea fanbase went to sh*t with the arrival of Sarri/Jorginho and all the new age hipster fans that followed Napoli for half a season because they played attractive football (zero trophies).

There is a direct negative correlation between quantity of online interactions and quality of discourse in any field to be fair.

It's a terrible shame really. One would have hoped that greater means of communication would make us better at communicating. So it goes...

Imo it is because there are too many crazy influencer and tacticos online.

They have crazy traction because  people want drama. Fans want villain, they want hero. They want magical solution.

And the worse part is that most of them usually have pep as their profile pic 😂😂 and whatever pep is doing right now is the best solution. So all of them have the same opinion. It is just 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I don't think it will work. You want Reece to go up which mean silva will need to defend the flank.

1 of our midfielders should fill in behind Reece when he goes forward, you should never bring a centre back wide to cover in a back 4.

If you push Colwill forward maybe but with Colwill staying back as he should, you already have 3 at the back. You can't then have 3 midifelder protecting the backline.

We all know how available the captain is. The answer is; rarely.
