I don't recall ever seeing this guy put a foot wrong? Undisputed starter along with Silva.

Either we find a way to make both he and Colwill a CB pairing or we continue with Colwill at LB and find an appropriate replacement for Silva.

I'm fine with Colwill at LB until Chilwell returns then they can rotate. Once Silva leaves, Colwill should take over unless Fofana comes back as the next Maldini.

Badiashile played RCB loads with the Monaco U21's as the comfort he has with both feet made him an asset there. It's something I'd like to try at some point but remains if it will ever be seen bar an injury crises.

I don't think it will work. You want Reece to go up which mean silva will need to defend the flank.

Caicedo is more than capable of filling in when required. Reece has been playing next to Silva for years now in a back

Silva leaves this summer and we have Colwill/Badiashile and Fofana/Disasi for CB + one youngster.

Shouldn't need to sign a CB for a while so long as Fofana doesn't self-implode when he next touches grass.

Youngster as in Humphreys? That is 3 left sided CBs which only further emphasizes the need to have Colwill or Badiashile learn to play on the right.

Don't forget Alfie Gilchrist who has looked very promising when given a chance.

I don't think Colwill or Badiashille will suddenly forget how to defend when playing on the right. If it's passing out from the back that concerns you there are ways to make that easier for them by adjusting the system slightly.

Our 2 best CB's should always start, if they are both left footed then so be it.

You'd think that but just ask Rio Ferdinand.

He admitted one time SAF played him LCB to accommodate Wes Brown and it was like a different culture to him. Extremely out of his comfort zone and this a bloke who was comfortable on the ball and had played ST at youth level.

It's something that I'd like tested for sure simply because Badiashile spent loads of time already at RCB at the youth level.

Depends on the player really, Walter Samuel at Inter didn't have a problem playing RCB as a lefty. More recently we've had Umtiti at Barca do it at high level.

I'm quite confident one of them can play RCB, certainly young enough to grow into it at least anyway.

If you ask both of your fb to stay back it will be very difficult to attack.

With silva it is very simple. If want him to play, you need him to be in the middle as cover, a bit similar to how to use jorgi defensively.

Once again, Silva has played several games at the highest level next to James in a back 4

I am confused.

Chilwell - Badi - Silva - James

Chilwell will go up and James will stay back. Silva will stay in the middle. No problem.

Colwill - Badi - Silva - James

James will go up and Colwill will stay back. Silva need to defend wide. Problematic.

Both lineup, you have silva play next to James in back 4 but with different responsibility.

There are so many ways around it.
both full backs given freedom to push on (ala Robertson/Trent) and Caicedo/Lavia drop in to cover out wide.
if a full back is pushing on, the winger is likely tracking him.

genuinely not an issue at all.

You can ask Caicedo to defend wide which mean Enzo defend the middle by himself = 👎👎👎

You can ask Enzo to defend wide = 👎👎👎

You can try to invert Colwill but that will be stupid. You need Colwill to learn to be CB first not dm.

Liverpool push both fb up which mean vvd n konate has to defend wide area.

Last season, I saw Ruben sprint from the middle to cover wide area because silva refused to go wide. I have never seen this in my life.

It is actually very simple. Who do you want to prioritize? Since you say I want silva to play well. Play badi/colwill on their "wrong" side which will make their life more difficult in term of build up.

Colwill - Silva - Badi

Definitely. Despite the hype around Colwill earlier in the season I always thought that Badiashile was the best CB and I was worried that he'd be frozen out because of this Colwill hype. I am still yet to see anything of note from Colwill but can see he is learning the game. For me Badiashile has to be starting CB and then pick who partners him.

Think he has the potential to be for sure.

But quality today? He had nothing to do! Sheff United were more toothless than a 90 year old who has been sulking on candy apples their whole life.

Thought he was good today. Took the initiative to take the ball forward. Clearly plays quite well with the ball at his feet. Made me dream of what a good pair he and Wes Fofana might have been.

Huge blunders vs Newcastle and Wolves.

It's not a coincidence that every single one of our defenders has been looking worse and worse as time passed by, Poch is bad at defensive coaching, I'm convinced of it.
