November 26, 20232 yr If we want the best from Enzo we need to give him a rest. He was overloaded from too much football before, now he has a newborn at home as well. Hopefully when Lavia is finally fit Enzo gets a few weeks off.
November 26, 20232 yr Author Personally getting annoyed of his inability to contribute anything defensively in midfield, but the sh*t he does looks like he isn't coached. Wandering off during set pieces and being widely out of position in the defensive transition. On the ball he is still amongst the best in the league, which for what eve reason pundits fail to recognize.

He's the number 8 now, he is supposed to have a more free role while others do the defensive tasks. That's why we signed Caicedo and that's why Gallagher runs a lot for defensive contributions.

He's a very good player. He isn't a game changer and hasn't been since he signed for us. Him playing 3rd/4th/7th fiddle to the best player of all time in a 7 game knockout tournament doesn't change that.

The truth is that we kind of did build our team around Enzo and he should be doing better considering that he wanted to play more forward in comparison to when he came to the club and directly replaced Jorginho.

Let's be honest, we wouldn't even be talking about Enzo if this team wasn't so allergic to scoring. He's been involved with most of the team's offensive plays since the season started, his biggest deficit has been his scoring (although he was very close against Newcastle). Does he need to up his game? For sure, he can do a lot better, and should, but i insist that he's the least of our problems right now.
November 27, 20232 yr I remember when he first joined and him and Joao Felix had good chemistry. Nice dinked balls over the top of defenders for attackers to run onto, that has completely dried up. He doesn't even play long cross field passes anymore. He's invisible most games these days. I don't think he is our biggest problem, but he isn't exactly playing to the standard we would expect. Saying that, who is at this point? we're 10th, there isn't a single player who is having a great season. Palmer and Sterling have been good in patches, but that is all we are getting from this lot. Enzo has probably had 4 good games all season, that can be said for pretty much everybody so far.

November 30, 20232 yr How many seasons will he give us without causing a fuss if we don't have CL football?

His agent may start to talk if we fails to get back into Europe next season, but realistically nobody will comes up and 100M+ to buy him. There will be suitors for him, but which big European clubs are desperate for Enzo and willing to break the bank? For 100M+ you want a bit more than what's Enzo been offering ( no disrespect for his passing ability), and Boehly and his pals won't want take a financial loss on their marquee signing either. I reckon he will stick around for quite a few seasons.

November 30, 20232 yr Author Honestly a joke how certain midfielders are getting all the plaudits despite looking Sunday league level in comparison to Enzo on the ball.

Did we get our 97.5mill back? Nope, this ownership had the best part of 2 summers and could not sell him to something he agreed to, so off on loan he went. I am not saying Enzo will be a prat like Rom BUT he was sold on a project of Chelsea building in to a side to challange for the big prizes, play CL regularly, not have his wages cut down by 30% penalty for no CL football. Say a Man City or Real want to buy him, but only for 60mill. I think there is a chance he may do what Nunes did at Wolves this summer to make a move happen.

If it happens in the future that he becomes unhappy in a year or two, that's his right isn't it? If he can't get results but is playing really well and working very hard, can you blame him for seeing that this whole project isn't going anywhere? If in 2 years we don't get to play in Europe it will be his 4th year finished since he came here. He can very well think that it's not normal to spend 4 years in the PL without playing CL football. But by that time, he's not going to be valued at 100m even if he does play well because ultimately it matters how much influential a player is when it comes down to results.

Would not blame him or others. If they were sold one vision but the actual is nothing like it.

The same thing has happened to me on the work front before, you get told what you will be doing and agree to do the role. Takes about a month for it happen and then when you get there, you find the management has changed and so has your role even before you started. You have to adjust, not fun just life.

December 3, 20232 yr Enzo is playing with a bunch of idiots around him. He needs some help, wouldn't mind Andrey Santos back as he had a decent showing during the pre-season.
