Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Just consider Enzo's role for a second, he had a more defined role when he came and then wanted to play further up the pitch in a more offensive role. This was all reported. He changed his number from 5 to 8 hinting that as well and now he has had both Caicedo and Gallagher working pretty hard every match so that he can have this free role and what not but he actually isn't doing much with it. He has the ball a lot sure and yes he made the most progressive passes but other than that he isn't doing much all things considered and mind you he also runs a lot without the ball but he just isn't effective as he should be at this point.

0 assists, 0 goals. Caicedo has the same number of goal-creating actions as Enzo. I can argue that Enzo as the number 5 (direct upgrade on Jorginho) is a better role for him than whatever he's trying to do this season, at least so far.

Stop thinking about Enzo as an assister/scorer and you'll be able to enjoy his performances a lot more 😉

Luka Modric didn't have the best stats at Tottenham before he was sold to Real Madrid, one season where he was on fire he had 1 assist. And Modric will go down as one of the greatest playmakers of all time, which he is.

Enzo has played some of the best passes of the season by quite a distance, especially earlier in the season. His vision and passing is sublime, we'll see more of it as the season goes on I'm very sure. But I think it's evident he needs a rest. He got hooked early twice now, now would be the perfect time to pull the "injury" card for the international break.

The Enzo-Caicedo midfield is something I'm very excited about and I think in time it could develop into the best midfield we've had since Kante-Matic fingers crossed. I'm hoping even better but I'm not going to get ahead of myself so early.

I remember goals and assists being used as a reason not to get him when we wanted him.

I do see him as a complete midfielder but I believe that he should be able to provide with some end-product as well while having someone like Caicedo covering for him and Gallagher as well.

He already showed last season that he can run the whole team from the base of the midfield but I expect some kind of an extra edge due to the fact that he's does have some extra free space to work with.

He has taken 20 shots so far, I believe he can do better in the final third. People complained that Kante couldn't and yet he could too.

Apparently if Enzo is booked vs Uruguay he would be suspended against Brazil.

So I hope that happens and he comes back at the weekend with that extra rest time.

I really hope it doesn't come to that. I know the clubs pay a lot for these players and always a bummer if injured during international duty.

I like to see players turn up for their countries, especially smaller or poorer countries where the football structures are not as comprehensively developed and catering to the full life cycle of a footballer as the European countries can.

If injured fair enough and If knackered can have a grown up discussion with his Country manager about the case for a rest. Never in support of pulling a sickie.

You can tell I'm that joy sucker at work ha.

like or dislike these advanced stats but if the lads finished these chances with a good percentage Enzo's louded as the next KDB.

No, not a KDB. He knows how to score goals consistently during a season.

Hopefully Enzo becomes our Pirlo, that would be magnificent.

Lost 0-2 to Uruguay, played the full 90.

Caicedo played the full 90 v Venezuela in 0-0 draw.

Yeah Enzo is getting blasted by the Argie media for his display. They are basically saying he allowed himself to get bullied and has not kept himself in the right shape to help his country.

The whole argentine team played like sh*t, as if they were too exhausted (or maybe too overconfident).

This is why International football in regular season just stinks. You get the 14:0, which is a waste of time and completely embarrassing to football , or players travel 10000 miles and play a sh1t game and get blasted by the media, and there's the little matter of players getting serious injuries.

Rushed back from international action only to see the team thrashed. Let him have some time off with his newborn and get some rest. He has played a lot in a short space of time.

He’s looked off for a couple of months now. Just tired and not the sharp version of himself we signed. Squad seems pretty unsettled - with internationals behind us for a bit I hope he can find some rhythm this coming month.

Didn't watch the game but would like to see a 100m midfielder on the score sheet now and then .

He scored against AFC Wimbledon. Lad's worth every penny.

Nowhere near as good as some think he is. He's a tidy player but not top class and was put to shame but Bruno and Joelinton yesterday who also featured in the last international break for Brazil and had just arrived home.

Has he ever been a game changer?

We've barely won a game in the 10 months since he signed.

Well, obviously meant in terms of performance not results.
