Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Featured Replies

IF we are lucky enough to offload Enzo for a decent price, we should be signing Adam Wharton from Palace in the summer. Great little player - one of the best passers in the league and still only 22. Could see him fitting in really well with the likes of Palmer, Pedro and Caicedo (plus Santos and Lavia). Would also take the Palace keeper whilst we're at it.

Still feel he’s destined for whichever of the Manchester clubs don’t sign Elliot Andersen.

Think we’ll see both of them move this summer for 80M+

I'm quite amused by the thought of replacing Enzo Fernandez with an 18 year old from the Portuguese league !

He's apparently a pint-sized 1.68m, so he'll also help address that identified "physicality" problem LOL.

Ironic that he's a good likeness for the Tyrion Lannister character in Game of Thrones ...

Pound shop Felix?

Should we start a poll: is Enzo Fernandez moving up or down? I’ll admit, I can’t even tell what a ‘sideways move’ from Chelsea is anymore… is Atletico that?

I'm not going to argue with you. You think the guy walks on water... I dont and will genuinely be delighted when he leaves. Good riddance.

The argument was over before this comment, but i never said he walks on water. Anyway, good riddance to you too.

If he was to be sold I'd love for us to replace him with Tonali, he's way too good for Newcastle.

Difficult. On his day, a very complete and dominant player, can run a midfield himself like a Vieira or Ballack of old, and is also a big-game player capable of big moments.

Much like Enzo, though, when it is not his day he does not contribute much. His output is poor, scoring just 5 goals in 3 seasons in the PL. He almost always plays the most attacking midfield role for Newcastle (similar role to Enzo) so not sure what the issues are.

Always thought Joelinton was the more advanced one.

Tonali to me always felt like a Gattuso type. Wouldn’t oppose, especially if Palmer is playing CAM.

Technically I suppose Joelinton/Willock/Woltemade are the more advanced ones, but they're all rubbish so Tonali is effectively the AM. I think the clubs looking at him are aware of this, they would be looking at his Milan days where he played as a genuine box-to-box attacking threat and wondering if there isn't some hidden value in there that could be exploited in a better team.

Tonali is just a sideways step from our current midfield but with less goals. The same with Wharton, Anderson, Barco and that portuguese Lannister

True to an extent but he and the others you listed do something that our current "attacking" AMs don't do, and that is carry the ball on the dribble. Santos doesn't have the confidence to do it, Enzo literally trips over himself when he tries and/or is too slow to pull it off, and our three players who can do it (Caicedo, Lavia, James) all play as nominal DMs. We really need a midfielder who can run the ball into space quickly to support Palmer and other play makers.

Who cares, really.

He's nothing compared to the likes of JT, Lampard, Drogba, Cech, Hazard, Cesc etc in terms of ability, personality, overall impact and importance to the team. The reasons why we even discuss this is because of his price tag and an expectation attached to it, plus the overall sorry state of affairs at Chelsea FC currently where a footballer of such caliber is even considered a leader and a key player, which is laughable given the names I've mentioned above.

Enzo's a very good (but not great, imo) player who had a difficult start to his Chelsea career, has improved and made some impact but ultimately is never going to be effective enough for this league or talented enough to raise this team to another level all by himself. I'm sure in a club like Real he'll look much better because he'll be surrounded by world class players, the league suits his profile and there'll be no pressure on him to be the leader and a go to guy.

We can't keep selling player who give us positive contribution if we truly want to improve as a team.

If we sell Enzo and get a fabregas sure but everyone by now know if we sell Enzo we probably will use the money to sign 3 U21 players

At this point, most players are an upgrade on Enzo and I despise the racist rat so much I'd welcome the chance for the club to give the opportunity to 3 youngsters, one will genuinely turn out to be a better player. Only loss here will be in accounts.

We don't, we're selling the net negative players. Play Estevao in the 10 and he gets 3x as much attacking contribution as Enzo over a season and offers as much in defence (nothing).

Your opinion on their quality is fine but you cannot deny that the three in bold provide way more balance to the team than Enzo.

I will not take another year of losing/being bullied against Arsenal.
