Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Enzo being with over hundred million means he should be play well regardless of the players or manager around him. He doesn’t deserve to get excuses as you’ve listed.

You are right; more in terms of wages—less so transfer fee imo. Fees between clubs have little to do with the player.

The point was made in the context of the KDH discussion; how they operate under very different circumstances — nothing else.

He’s been subpar for us; I’m just not sure it’s that easy to upgrade on him. We will find out soon enough from the chatter.

Agreed personal terms per Argentine outlets.

Who with and please let the football Gods allow Enzo's talents to grace another club. I'm going to church to pray for his safe departure and arrival at any club but us.

120 mil and you can have it .. a luxury player who is good in a couple of positions but not a world beater in any.

I have to be honest I am not watching a lot of the WC but reading a couple of reports following Argentinas latest game the press view is that he is far too good for Chelsea and is a star.

I don’t think his club performances are as bad as some on here suggest but I certainly don’t see a world star in him.

His fee would have been one of the last both from a PL and UEFAs perspective that allowed amortisation over 5 years so there would still be at around 2/3 of his fee on the books.

So we need to get around £70-75 million to wave him good bye. Will we recoup the £100+ million we paid ? What is becoming the norm is that very mediocre players are now being talked about as being in the £100m range so as I say I don’t see him as world class but if my assessment is wrong and the pundits are right than it’s quite possible that there will be an actual and not just accounting profit.

SHHHH

Let the worlds media proclaim him a star, let them talk of him as being one of the top midfielders.

The more this happens the higher the chance he goes for 120m. There's a reason we spent that much on him, the same hype happened after the last world cup.

When he came he looked the part in quite a few games .. he bossed Liverpool in his second or third year.. I think Maresca ruined him and coached everything great out of him.. he ain’t a 8.. was a 6 in the pirlo mould to be honest .. but he never worked on that position and has become weaker and weaker in his positioning to command a center mid position for me.. so yeah I hope he has a great World Cup and we maximise the profit and get to see a better player there.

Apparently Madrid don't want him (no surprise).

We're going to end up stuck with him after all this. got to pray he has a good world cup to drum up some interest.

On the plus side at least you've still got your scapegoat for every game we lose 😉

Interested to see how it plays out after the World Cup.

Would he report to preseason training or pull a Courtois?

He will pull an Isak, and Pastore will mouth off to the press that he is underpaid.

Enzo Fernandez's agent, Javier Pastore: 🗣 “We are looking at options to leave Chelsea.”

Madrid? He [Enzo Fernandez] has a lot of friends there, and he's very close with Julián Álvarez, they spend all their free time together. Apart from that, who doesn't love Madrid? I've never played there, yet I live there now."

Just give Diego Simone a call, Mourinho isn't keen.

Interesting development this morning in that RM have released a statement in effect saying that they haven’t approached Fernandez either directly or indirectly.

My guess would be either

1) Chelsea have marked their card and said much akin to what they have said to City or

2) it actually could be the other Madrid club that’s interested

Funnily enough rumours are starting to emerge that two PL clubs are showing an interest and those two clubs are City and surprisingly Arsenal.

Brutal statement from Real Madrid.

Enzo is a quality player, but he should have been more professional about all this situation. Bar City, I can't see anyone else paying the price we are asking for. But at the same time I can't see City going for another 120M+ player in the same window they bought Anderson for a similar amount.

Really curious to see how this whole thing develops. He's become one of the least liked players in the squad in such a short space of time and my bet is he will do some bullsh*t 5 minute long apology video when he is back for preseason. But I think he will still have a hard time everytime he will touch a ball.

Should start the season on the bench.

I would sell him to Atletico Madrid for £80m just to see the back for him. We all know he wants out, and I can see him phoning in his performances.

Perez was never going to hand us £120m after the Hazard debacle, and Mourinho played a blinder getting Bernardo Silva in early.

I know we've been poor on all levels for the past years, but that would mean we would turn into even bigger buffoons. In a world where Elliot Anderson who only runs and passes 5 metres right and left goes for 130M, surely we can't just be taken for fools and let players leave for clown amounts. Add to that Mateus Fernandes, who was not even called up to the Portugal NT, went for 85M. The guy was left behind Samu Costa of Mallorca, a club that was relegated to the Spanish 2nd league this season.

I mean he either finds a buyer at 120M, or stays here and fights for his place. The club should be ruthless in these situations and show players they have no power over them.
