For him to thrive, the midfield needs to be balanced out. 

What we saw against Forest for example, Enzo can't fix that. Mount and Zakaria just don't have any positional sense.

Not trying to be argumentative but shouldn’t we expect a £100m+ signing to thrive without all these caveats? 

I know he’s not the final piece of the puzzle but for that amount of money I’d expect or hope for any player to be able to deliver on a semi consistent basis.

Needs an enforcer next to him, just like Fabregas needed a Matic. That is why Rice keeps getting brought up, even though some fans are against the move. It’s either him or Caicedo.

No real news on Enzo so far today. Only thing I have seen pop up is we won't be held to random by Benfica and will continue to increase our popularity with Brighton, and continue to try and become Brighton 2.0, by using said 130mill to fund the double signing of Alexis and Moises for our midfield IF Benfica don't play ball ASAP.

Agreed. If Enzo does not happen I want to see Potter do what he did at Brighton, give unproven talent like those 2 game time and a chance to impress ahead of underperformed.

He has Carney, Casadei and now Santos. I get it if Kova, Jorgi and RLC have been doing well, but they have all been poor. Heck he won't even try Chalobah in midfield and he spent 2 loans out as a DM.

Another road block removed! Complete agreement between Enzo Fernandez and #CFC for January transfer! Enzo last request accepted by Chelsea, which is the return of Romelu #Lukaku from loan this January. Enzo dreams of providing ammunition for Big Rom! Almost here we go!

Adding Enzo and replacing Jorginho improves a lot of elements both on and off the ball, but there's such a disconnect in midfield that he alone can't fix. Since preseason we found it difficult to build up from the back without Kante in midfield and James at RB. 

Look at Forest as a prime example. Neither Mount or Zakaria knew what to do position wise when the CBs or Jorginho had the ball. They are both #8s by trade so love to venture forward, and when we lost the ball Jorginho was isolated and you know what that means. Even when Kovacic came on the problems still occurred. 

 

With Nkunku, and now Enzo hopefully, I want to assume Potter is leaning towards a pivot with a CAM. Kante is virtually the only one who can play alongside Enzo successfully imo, which is why we need another body in CM. Rice or Caicedo fits perfect. 

I wasn't kidding when I said I wanted a midfield clear out.

Maybe this is their plan for climbing up the league. Next we'll be bidding for the Fulham players and if we're lucky we can then go after the Brentford lads as well.

I'm a Benfica fan and of course all this story around Enzo has been massive. 

As a player it would be a tremendous lost for us. He is 21 but plays like 30. Very mature and tactically very very wise. 

Financially, well...it is just incredible how easy clubs spend this amount of money these days...damn.

Considering the type of person he revealed to be (👎) and the amount you'll pay for him, I think it's a great business. We would be able to adjust other positions.

Hope you enjoy him as well, if it really happens.

I think it means he went back to Argentina for NY and skipped training. Which is the type of thing a player does when he's pushing for a move to be done. Doesn't bother me
