It would be weird if we still go on and get him. I would love to see him in a Chelsea shirt but if we don't want to help him buyout his contract I don't see how we buy him. Benfica said they won't sell him under 120m€...

If we arrange for a summer transfer I could see us coming to an agreement with Benfica, otherwise I dont think meeting the clause is realistic.

Maybe after the Mudryk deal the Eggman and Winstanley have jetted over to Portugal?

One of the senior agents in Portugal, Arthur Fernandes, has confirmed we have restrarted talks with Benfica and stated he has heard we are looking at offering 100mill euros.

I don't see anything about it in any of the two sport journals in Portugal (ojogo.pt and abola.pt) other than a brief news in O Jogo from last week that refers to The Telegraph. We will see, i think it is likely that Todd will try again, but I haven't seen it confirmed in the Portuguese journals.

Not even remotely getting excited by this until he is holding up a chelsea shirt and singing blue is the colour.

Is it Portugal you live in then mate? If so can you keep an eye out for the Eggman and Winstanley and their private jet?

After Mudryk it could happen quickly.

It's slightly confusing how there could be talks. 

The options are

1. We offer the buyout clause. Which is huge and seems counterproductive to how we want to do business.

2. We offer less for him to join in the summer. 

I don't see how many other option exists. Benfica could genuinely go far in the CL this season. Lose Enzo now and that goes out the window. Keep Enzo now and they can still milk us then. 

So until he's wearing a blue shirt, as @big blue says, I'm not getting excited.

Like the Rapture... While I know that this guy would improve us massively, I don't think we should break the banks just yet. There are several options that will cost us less but would do a very good job in the midfield. Players like Caicedo or Nunes @ wolves would be very good addition to our team. We are one or two players from having a very very good team and worst case scenario is to try negotiate with Benfica with the flexible option of getting him in the summer

I can’t be doing with having to be disappointed with the same non-signing twice in one transfer window. It’s frustrating because this is the signing I’d liked to have seen above any other.
