RIP Legend Gianluca Vialli

Totally gutted when I heard this news, as painful as the euros final loss was I could only be happy for him seeing him celebrate after what he'd gone through.

I was so lucky to get into football and Chelsea in the mid ninties just in time to see players like Luca come to the club. The team he was in and then managed is still the team I remember most fondly, the club would not be where it is now if it wasn't for Vialli!

A fitting tribute to the great man,has just been shown by the bbc at half time during the City game.

We're learning so much lately.

Horrible, awful news.

By all accounts as lovely and funny a bloke as you're ever likely to meet. What a privilege it was to support Chelsea at that time, with human beings like Luca, Robbie D and Franco around. I loved everything about Luca's Chelsea, we were such fun: the culmination of sexy football.

R.I.P. Luca, they don't make them like you any more.

Following last week's passing of our legendary former player and manager Gianluca Vialli, Chelsea Football Club is inviting fans to record their own messages and memories.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9.30am, a book of condolence will open for written tributes. It will be on the ground floor of the Museum and Stadium Tours building, behind the Matthew Harding Stand at Stamford Bridge. Accompanying it will be a display remembering Luca’s career at Chelsea. The book will be available between 9.30am and 4.30pm each day.

For those unable to visit the Bridge who wish to leave messages, an online version of the book of condolence is now open.

  • Leave your tributes to Luca here

  • OF: VIALLI

In addition, a special area for laying floral tributes has been open daily near the Britannia Entrance at Stamford Bridge.

There will be further tributes at our next home game, versus Crystal Palace on Sunday with details to follow.

Hopefully going with a mate Thursday or Friday will take a couple of photos and post them if the club allow it bound to be some pricks wanting to take selfies with it.

Am planning to go there on Friday afternoon. Will also take photos and post if allowed.

Hi all - I would like to share with you our beloved legend legacy at Sampdoria and share you two fantastic videos about Vialli as a player for Sampdoria and as a man:

  • 8 years with our shirt
  • 141 goals in 328 matches
  • 1 x Serie A
  • 1 x Champions League final (lost in Wembley)
  • 2 x European Cup finals (1W, 1L)
  • 4 x Italian Cups
  • 1 x Italian Supercup

Sampdoria in 90s were a team made up of young players with a true friendship and love for our shirt, guided by a legendary Serbian coach Vujadin Boskov.

Started from a Leicester-like experience, they achieved all above targets in a 8-year progress with a promise not to quit the team without winning a Serie A title: at that time, it was not easy to resist to Berlusconi's Milan, Maradona's Napoli, German Inter Milan, Agnelli's Juventus - it has been really a unique and never repeated fairy tale.

Cracking video...

1) It shows how we used to pass it forward quickly

2) Vialli wasnt afraid to shoot early - he took shots quickly when keepers were not set.

3) Forgot how good Petrescu was. 🙂

literally brought a tear to my eye. Vialli in that Autoglass kit, a true Chelsea legend.

It's going to be an incredibly emotional day today at the Bridge, saying goodbye to a great person and an incredibly talented footballer.

Hopefully some former players like Wisey and JT have forcefully explained to the present soft bunch about honouring a club legend, and while they're at it, about playing for the badge.

Two huge banners in tribute to the Italian were unfurled at either end of Stamford Bridge, before a number of his former team-mates joined the current players in the centre circle for a minute's applause before kick-off.

Anyone have a complete list of his former team mates that took part in the tribute?

I was looking but could not spot Wisey, LeBouf, Marcel or Franco.
