April 1, 20242 yr championship level decision making. He has skills with the ball at his feet but really needs to develop a lot for a top level club to play him even as a rotation option. He takes the wrong decision almost every time. With his skill level he got away with this at age group football but in senior football its not about tricks and frills.. decision making is something equally important.. and my word he is gawd awful at that.
April 4, 20242 yr Brought on in the 91st minute and was involved in practically everything. He won a stone cold penalty to get us back into it through sheer power and determination to go round the defender. He needs to be getting a LOT more minutes on the pitch. The ability is clear to see.
April 8, 20242 yr Overall another solid performance and another quality goal. Was our hardest working and most direct player on the pitch yesterday and we looked worse when he was subbed off.

Good dribbler and shooting as usual, if he can get other parts of his game to a higher standard he would be a good player. Problem is he seems to only play on the right so I'm not really sure how he's going to get the run of games he needs ahead of Palmer.
April 15, 20242 yr We're making steady progress here. No one is saying Sterling should be starting ahead of him anymore. Not even @ozboy or @OriginalS.
April 16, 20242 yr Good game by him yesterday. Obviously the penalty issue was childish but i have more issue with Jackson that Noni. No excuses but Noni at least won the penalty, can understand him wanting it after winning it and being 4-0 up at the time. Once Gallagher got involved he accepted it and moved on, even pushed Jackson over to Palmer to congratulate him after the goal when Jackson was walking off.
April 16, 20242 yr Couldn't care less about the penalty non issue. Had a solid game, hard to see him keeping his place once Enzo is back but would like to see what that front 3 can do.

Yeah I though Noni backed down fairly happily once it was obvious Palmer was taking it, accepted the situation. Jackson barreling in like a pathetic child kicked it all off, the bellend.

I don't know how to embed videos but it's clear below that the Noni didn't 'back down fairly happily', he was dragged away by conor and lashed out in a strop around the 23 second mark. https://www.skysports.com/football/video/30998/13116249/chaos-as-chelsea-argument-ensues-over-penalty-give-him-the-ball I don't actually care that much about the penalty arguments, provided Palmer ends up taking it. They'll die down and really just show a young hungry inexperienced team. But to paint Noni as a bystander and Jackson as the aggressor feels biased.

Madueke lashed out at Gallagher when walking away from the spot.

April 16, 20242 yr Noni tried to take the 2nd penalty during the Utd game as well so its not the first time he's grabbed the ball. Hopefully this is just a sign of immaturity on his part and this is a turning point for him and Jackson. As long as Palmer is on the pitch nobody should be grabbing the ball and you would think they would learn that after the Sterling incident. I like the idea that Poch lets them decide on the pitch who's talking the penalty because it shows the characters in a young squad and this is a part of them growing into a team. Overall though he had plenty of positives in the game and hopefully he builds on it with others out with injuries.

Poch said in a post-match interview that they all already knew before the game that Cole was the penalty taker. He says this at 1:50 onwards in the video at this link : https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68823174

Maybe since then he made Palmer the number 1 taker?
April 16, 20242 yr I like Madueke. He shows a bit of passion and urgency and no shortage of skill. We MUST continue to start him. I was pissed off with both him & Jackson over the penalty fiasco last night as it didn't look great, but to be fair, we were 4-0 up, Palmer was on the ground injured and he (wrongly) thought he had won the penalty. But hopefully it's all forgotten about and they are joking about it on the training ground - as long as it NEVER happens again!
April 16, 20242 yr Some of the inter-play between Gusto and Noni was excellent last night. Will probably hand in a transfer request if Poch keeps subbing him off when he deserves to stay on. Edited April 16, 20242 yr by just

If I had my way the rule would be whoever won the penalty, takes the penalty. I know at the end of the day stats should be meaningless, but they aren't.

Of course he wanted to stay on. Everyone always does. It was 72 minutes and he has a history of fading as the game goes on. Replaced him with Carney. Fresh legs. Good thinking.
April 16, 20242 yr The embarrassment surrounding the penalty aside - I think we just have to play him going forward. He can be frustrating and a lot of the things he tries doesn’t come off, but he’s so direct he’s a nightmare to deal with for his opponents. Something just always seems to happen around him, and that is an ability I’d rather have on the pitch. He’s a wildcard, and I like that
