Considering what little I remember of him, I'm actually surprised that he managed to get to 10 goals for us.

On the topic of whether or not he knew what he was taking, everything is just speculative and we can go on and on about it but, at the end of the day, he has been charged and has to face the consequences. End of. Get rid of him and close this chapter for good.

So much money wasted on this guy. And others. Our scouts are terrible.

Our transfer negotiators seem to be very bad, consistently overpaying for players, and particularly when Behdad Eghbali gets involved (Fernandez, Mudryk)

I hope you can still separate two things; Mudryk's doping scandal and Mudryk the player. Who can anticipate this doping thing? No one...

Mudryk was pretty sought after player when we bought him. Still young and will improve.

Such a shame this doping thing hit him. Hopefully it is only a year-18 months so we might still get some production of him

Enzo is fine. Expensive as hell no doubt but is fine investment to me.

Sure.

First issue - doping player - waste of money.

Second issue - sh*t player - waste of money

First issue - not down to our scouts/directors

Second issue - young player and can reach the levels excepted...with first issue very hard unfortunately.

Well. Scouting a player is also analyzing the person behind the football talent. In this case it have been a misfit and now ending with him doping himself.

Also in this case: You did not even need to speak to Mudryk to see that he is not the sharpest tool in the toolbox.. I'm zero procent surprised that he is now in this kind of trouble.

Disagree entirely on the second point. Other than the factual statement that he's young. I've seen nothing since he's been here to suggest he will reach any higher level than he already is. Maybe you have. I haven't.

Sack him and try to recoup some of the money some how.

Unlikely to recoup money and would be a massive FFP/PSR hit thanks to his massive contract length. We would need to write-off £48m + this year's wages in our PSR accounts. Alternatively they could suspend him on no pay/reduced pay which would only cost us £8m a season and then sell him for a nominal fee after the ban expires.

However if reports are true then we might well have the means to do it this season.

I can't remember any sportsman admitting to deliberately doping after a failed drug test.

I was absolutely convinced that Lance Armstrong was not involved in doping after reading his book " It's not about the bike" . You just HAD to believe that this emotional, heartfelt, courageous, honest man who had battled cancer and therefore would NOT compromise his health, was completely clean .

I can't believe now how brazen and dishonest he was to the point that he actually wrote that book ! I've read loads of cycling books, and the way teams slowly entice riders into doping in order to keep their professional contracts is absolutely awful.

As for Mudryk, I can't get angry about it, he's just a casualty of the doping industry.

I think Shakter also lose out on future bonus related payments too.

Why do you have this unshakable belief that a young player automatically and inevitably will always improve? We didn't pay all that money out on a player hoping for him to improve.

For THAT outlay he should be the finished article

Mudders is a good boy. If he took the drug knowingly he deserves the punishment but if he didn't take it even the light version of the ban is way too harsh. I feel sorry for him in any way. Young lad.

Big money sure, but a devastating blow for him personally. With Mutu the blow was more snorted than devastating.

Didn't realise you knew the lad.

You can't argue against it either because it is fair possibility.

Remember Matic for example, Guehi, DeBruyne, Salah.. they've been through this forums grinder; absolute rubbish and not Chelsea level for sure and probably by the same people. All came out nicely.

What makes young players exciting is the view of future and the possibility.

Mudryk's been pretty special prospect since he arose to the stage and when big clubs started bidding for him.

chatGPT knows the lad and told Evissy all about him apparently.

Have you tried or used AI in your work or personal life? A serious question. ☺️

If this club keep him, I hope they put him on some serious 24/7 training regimen focusing only on speed and scoring goals.

If not get him out or sell him to some saudi team

I know him as well as you do.

But I am not the one making comments about his character. I can only judge the merits of him as a player and that from what I have seen in the environment that he is in. I saw some unsavoury social media posts attributed to him when he first joined. Were they real and do they testify to his character. I have no idea so I don't care.

Unlike you I couldn't tell whether he is a good guy or not. He is deeply religious apparently. So have been some of worst characters in society. So I have no idea about his character.

As a player he has greatly under achieved against the over hype he has received from the club and his agent, and far from being the inclusive for all environment that some think football should be, it remains a brutally competitive arena where 18 months out of the game will probably derail his career here.

Not sure what we can actually do with him. If he gets 4 years we've basically lost any hope of him contributing or getting a penny back. Our only hope is he gets a short ban, comes back and does well. That is the best case scenario.
