Nobody wants to see this, for a player whose major asset is pace to miss the next 4 yrs. a real shame.

Unless there’s some sort of insurance policy the club should keep him unpaid until his ban is over then loan him out and see if he has any sell on. It’s hard to take the moral high ground and kick him out when as a club you have concluded it was taken inadvertently. And you might get something back.

If he gets what Pogba got, less time served already, then he's basically out for next season and then able to play thereafter. I think the club will stand by him, but withhold wages until he is able to return.

Been saying since the beginning that he was guilty and they were doing their due diligence to cover all legal tracks.

Problem was the effects wore off way too quickly. He should sue his supplier.

That's 18 months of him not developing as a player, 18 months of him forgetting what it's like to play against top level players. It's one of the core reasons why players so often never truly come back from full leg breaks, even they heal good as new.

There was a chance he could have grown into the player we thought we'd signed before, now, it's incredibly unlikely.

It’s quite revealing how many players over the years have been both charged with and found guilty of doping charges and never received a ban.

There is absolutely no way that a charge was going to be avoided but it’s the punishment or indeed lack of it that will tell us far more.

Not sure how anyone at this stage can estimate or should I say guess as to what the penalty will or won’t be. We simply don’t know any of the circumstances.

All we know is that both samples returned positive results and as a consequence there had to be a charge . It would be churlish for Mudryk team to argue against the test results all his representatives energy and effort will almost certainly be put into mitigation arguments

I remember reading an article recently about Mutu. He actually got a 7 month but as we know he was subsequently sacked.

The two cases don’t appear, save failing drug tests, to be the same.

Mutu went of the rails very early into his Chelsea career and despite warnings from both Claudio and Jose he was completely of the rails and the club carried out their own research/ testing and ultimately were fined because it didn’t follow protocol. He was only caught when official tests were conducted.

There are certain steps that the disciplinary process has to follow. It’s possible that the next steps are already agreed. For instance The charge is admitted and an explanation as to how the drug got into his system has already been accepted by the FA then the only work the Regulatory Commission has to do is agree any sanction which could simply be enhanced monitoring.

Mudders is a good boy. If he took the drug knowingly he deserves the punishment but if he didn't take it even the light version of the ban is way too harsh. I feel sorry for him in any way. Young lad.

Big money sure, but a devastating blow for him personally. With Mutu the blow was more snorted than devastating.
