A better performance but still not quite clicking. New guys working out the premier’s a step up.

Would be super-weird if we clicked this season in a consistent way.

I’m not sure James and Madueke are a natural combination down the right, it feels like they both want to occupy the same space.

I wish Madueke can play slightly narrower so we can have James playing high and wide more

Playing out of the back is so frustrating at times. It's too slow. It should be 2 passes, then move it on into midfield and start moving up the pitch. Too often we stop, look, pass it backwards, get closed down and look for a foul.

This, all day f**king long.

i think James is still not back to his full strength

would reckon will take a couple of games

Going forward, we look good at times. Noticing a few issues that are becoming more apparent the longer the game goes on though. Cucurella has zero composure, he is erratic 100% of the time, even when he is on the ball in space. I also think him and Mudryk have zero chemistry so far. It's not all on Cucurella though, Mudryk needs to drop deeper at times to receive the ball. I am actually already seeing issues with Mudryk in this type of system, he's clearly one of those players that loves to pick up the ball and run, but we play too slow moving the ball out to the wings, it makes him ineffective. When he does get on the ball though, he's really exciting.

On the other side, Madueke is all flash with nothing to show for it so far. Seems reluctant to take on his man in tight spaces and James plays too many games within himself. I know he is just getting back to match fitness, but he's always had concentration issues, and if he was concentrated, I don't think West Ham score that goal. He also needs to be much more lively going forward. Why does he keep refusing to put the cross in? step it up a bit, I would go as far as to say he is lazy at times.

First 25 minutes was probably the best period of football we've played this season. One moment of misjudgement and the game seems to be slowly drifting away from us.

We need a reaction ASAP.

P.S. Badiashile is class!

And Enzo already has more assists this season than Jorginho.

Also given the ball away several time, though he goes and gets it back. He can play better. Mudryk is cutting inside too much   Will be better when he learns to stay wide.

Early days but Mudryk isn't looking that great so far. Not doing his job defensively, and not getting involved offensively.

Think he is one of those that will take some time and patience. I reckon he will come good.

We waited 5 years for Jorginho to do what Enzo did in less than 2 games, this might be the biggest upgrade i've ever seen for the Chelsea shirt.

No doubt, Jorginho is such a crap/

We definitely need to work on our build up shape. This 4-2 is not working

That's the only thing BasmatiRice can do, try to press a 40 year old T.Silva... Didn't do them any good.

Agree but my preference is for James to play high and wide and to have the rw tuck in more

He has always had the concentration issue though, I can clearly remember a game under Tuchel when Azpi was playing as a RCB, and he didn’t bother doing any defensive work. Azpi kept on screaming at Tuchel that there was too much space getting exploited behind him. Personally don’t think he is world class, but what do I know.

I don’t think that is sustainable anymore now that we aren’t using wingbacks. James is going to have to cut moving back a notch as whoever is in front of him will be filling that wing back void half the time.

James?

He is or very close. You can have good argument that he is the best rb in pl

This game needs Mason Mount…

Where would you play him? The smart option is coming in for Murdyk on the LW around the 60min mark. Taking off Felix or moving him somewhere else to accommodate Mount is a sackable offence.

Shame about James falling asleep, he did see the player out wide but for some reason didn't panic about it until it was too late, disappointing but easily sorted with hair dryer at HT.

Should have been cut out on the touchline either cucarella or mudryk went to sleep.

I don't think it is a problem though with double pivot behind him and cucu playing more conservative, James should be able to play much higher.

We are playing footballsy football...for a spectator this looks probably very nice. Up and down and a ton of fast pace stuff.

Until we get miles in the side we will lose games against sides that are more experienced as a team...by sheer quality we can naturally win games.
