April 8, 20233 yr My mate just sent me this said he read it online have to say I think it's class 🤣 You put Lampard in You put Lampard out In out in out and shake it all about You do the Todd Boehly and turn around That's what it's all about.

April 8, 20233 yr It’s only been one game, so patience is required, but did anyone really think that Lampard was the answer? Honestly, I thought that Potter should get the remaining of the season when he did not get the sack after Southampton and managed to get through Dortmund. We played very well against Liverpool under Bruno Saltar who followed a bit Potters patterns of play, and we sink at Wolves when Lampard is appointed. Not unexpected, is it? We need to stick with Lampard now, there’s nothing to play for and he’s been chosen to take us to the end, but a serious cleansing of the club is required before next season at player and coaching level.

Yeah I really don’t get what cost/benefit analysis possibly comes up with this. Similar to the Tuchel decision. But does this not suggest / confirm it’s the owners that are the main problem here? To me, it couldn’t be clearer.
April 8, 20233 yr If he didn’t realise just how big a task he has on his hands. He will after the Wolves game today.

My worry is we look to have lost even the good bits of the Potter/Bruno reign in days. When Lampard came in last time his more free expressive approach with the micro managing of Sarri still fresh in the mind hit a perfect sweetspot so I was hoping we'd atleast get that again. If we played Wolves off the park and lost/drew due to finishing fair enough but it seems we've skipped straight to Lampard's last winter from tactical point of view already.
April 8, 20233 yr This is the time to really support the club, clearly deeper problems than most fans envisaged ... and proves that pouring in millions of $$$ £££ doesn't get instant results.. best thing will be to finish out of Euro places and just play for the top4 and PL next season

But does this not suggest / confirm it’s the owners that are the main problem here? To me, it couldn’t be clearer. Yep. It all started last summer. The amount of money we paid for Fofana (even if he turns out to be good) Cucurella, Koulibaly (these two especially, f**king hell) Sterling and Aubameyang (frozen out of the squad) Chukwuemeka (rubbish and no better than our academy players) The contracts for these players as well, just ridiculous. Koulibaly already looks finished and he's on a massive contract until 2026. Chasing De Ligt, making fools of themselves with the Raphinha deal, yo-yoing on Kounde. At the end of the summer, they make the insane decision to sack Tuchel and even more insane decision to replace him with Potter, a coach who I personally believe is well out of his depth and I highly doubt he will ever find himself in a top position in football outside of the England job. Then we get the January transfer window. Yes, it's exciting signing players, but how often do January signings work out immediately anyway? It's not common, and in a lot of cases, January signings never get their confidence back. How good are these players exactly anyway? Madueke (he can run, but that's about it) D.Fofana (disappeared) Badiashile (solid start, barely featured since) Mudryk (looks like a lost child) Santos (even his highlights don't look impressive) Enzo (good player, but required a monstrous transfer fee just to bring him here) and Felix on loan to save our season......maybe, I don't know, I'm not sure what the goal of this loan deal was. Then they sack Potter, which was the right choice, but totally pointless at that time in the season because it already sunk to unrecoverable levels. Now they bring in Lampard, temporarily, but after how bad he was with Everton only a few months ago, I'm not sure that was the right thing to do. Then there is all of the sackings going on around the club, right down to the groundsman. It all just seems like it's too much too soon. You look at the Saudi's at Newcastle and they seem to be running things much more efficiently. Since the Boehly and ClearLake takeover, it's been non stop chaos, and it's clearly hurting us.

Summed up - an utter mess. As said many times, the starting position wasnt good and will take a lot of time to sort out the mess. I am not convinced any of the new signings aside from Enzo are good enough to lead the revivial. Madueke and Mudryk both look poor with little end product. Badi is an odd one - I dont understand why frozen out. Felix no end product. DDF has no pedigree and has shown nothing to suggest he is good enough for this level, or anywhere near it. Shambolic.

In my opinion, once they did not sack Potter after the Southampton disaster, we should have given him until the end of the season. After that, it is madness to bring back Lamps who’s got a totally different way of playing especially after we battered Liverpool (even if the players missed some great chances). I love Frank, but as a manager it appears that he’s regressed massively. A big mistake he’s done today is to come and change the way we’ve been playing for these past months and was kind of starting to show some results. But for now, we just have to trust him and give him til the end of the season unless we get into the relegation battle.

Yeah agree with most of this but would just reiterate it’s really mostly on the owners. Players seem to be in a state of paralysis / lost. I mean when you have 4 coaches in a season, it’s hard to perform. The fact we can’t even do a new manager bounce for like a game seems to point to something bigger. I don’t think they want to be playing so badly and I’m close to 100% certain they’re all capable of playing better than this. the whole structure seems rotten. I can’t shake off this feeling that a bigger crisis is looming, not just for Chelsea but maybe football in general. Too many things just seem off. I realise I might be projecting, or joining dots where there isn’t any joining be done. The dots are there though.

I think there are other benefits to be gained apart from manager performances with such a short term appointment. However the massive cock up of Boehly is absolutely shocking. The man has come in, less than 12 months ago and literally ripped out everything good about the club in his bid to show who's boss. He's been very stupid along the way and scored so many own goals and whilst I don't like the stereotyping of Americans as knowing nothing about our game, he doesn't help the argument with everything he's done/doing.
April 8, 20233 yr No new manager bounce then. Can point the finger at Lampa all you want but too many players our there phoning it in and not giving a sh*t. The owners and directors have a lot to answer for with this recruitment.
April 8, 20233 yr I find the criticism towards Boehly/Clearlake a bit weird and hindsighted because so many fans were raving about Boehly & Co's spending on players such as Koulibaly and Sterling, then Enzo, Madueke, Mudryk (snatching him from Arsenal etc) and now people are criticising the owners for doing too much in a short period of time etc. This isn't on the new owners as much as it is on the previous owner. We were left in a poor position when Roman left with a lot of the squad to be fixed. Remember it was the old ownership that let Rudiger's contract run down, allowed Giroud to no longer be a part of the team, never got back up for Kante, the list goes on. Maybe Boehly & Co tried to do too much in a short time, but it was pretty much needed because of previous failure of ownership. People seem to forget (conveniently or not) that we started off the season with poor results under Tuchel too. No saying things would have got much better under him. Granted I never wanted him sacked to begin with, but none of us know what went on behind the scenes for the true reasons behind him leaving.

As we feared early on, the owners have to answer for everything not use a lot. 4 managers in one season. How the hell does that happen?

The owners and directors have a lot to answer for with this recruitment. It doesn't really matter who is in charge right now. They are an interim and the players know this manager will almost certainly not be in charge beyond the end of the season. In the league we are almost certain to finish mid-table now. European places are out of reach, and we should have just about enough points to avoid relegation. So it is very much about playing for pride and apparently a large number of players don't care. I suspect we are more likely to see some players show up for the Champs League games only because there is still some glory to play for there. But in the league most of the team seems to have given up. I would actually love to see Frank drop most of the team in the league, and play the youngsters like Hall, Burstow etc. At least they would play with some passion.

Re Tuchel and whatever it was he supposedly did/said… let’s assume the worst.. gotta ask how did it come to that in the first place? Seems like mismanagement. They have to shoulder some responsibility too.
April 8, 20233 yr Potter has the worst win % since Roman right? I think Lampard wasn't too far behind, maybe he can break that record!
April 8, 20233 yr fair play to Frank for returning, but I feel for the guy. He probably didn't realise/expect the mess we are in at the moment. The players have needed to shoulder the blame going back to Potter, but they are almost immune to criticism. Edited April 8, 20233 yr by enigma

Would be several steps down from Roman, most would be but at least they had Chelsea people in the bid that care about Chelsea.
