Why we are "blessed" with so many injuries is beyond me. Weird to think the season is deep into the latter parts and we basically haven't seen Nkunku, James, Lavia, Fofana help the team. It doesn't help that we buy injury prone players from the start. We're interested in Callum Wilson currently who is available pretty cheaply. Of course he is, go look at his injury record. He will get injured within 2 weeks.
January 29, 20242 yr Casadei, Santos, Morreira, and Washington are set to stay at the club according to Nizaar. I wonder just how many minutes combined they will all play...

That said there are a lot of loan returnees happening all over in this window.

You give us those two ar their peak and Palmer will be fine in the false 9 because all the pressure is taken off him as those 2 score boat loads. But no, he has Mudryk, Madueke, Gallagher and Sterling who are more often Ambrosetti and Gronkjaer and never, ever Salah or Mane. You taint my memory of gronkjear getting us into the champions league ahead of Liverpool. Fine memory of a fine player... cough cough...

January 30, 20242 yr Just for the record, several on this forum at the time thought Salah was pants when he was here (2 goals in 10 games or something like that). Not that he ever got much of a run. Even at Roma he wasn't anything like the start he became under Klopp. Not sure why I post this other than to say that some of the younger players may very well have lots of upside in them.

They will need to see lots of pitch time for that to happen. You look around the league and the youngsters doing well are the ones getting regular game time. 5-10mins here and there won’t cut it if you want to develop young players. I know some fans argue that by training together with the older players the good ones will rise to the top, that isn’t usually the case. There is no substitute for that on pitch experience. Take Connor Bradley for example, TAA got injured and Klopp threw him in the deep end after playing 54mins all season long. 4 consecutive starts after and he has notched 3 assists, and is now a genuine competition for TAA. The same applies to Oscar Bobb at City with Pep constantly taking off Grealish when he starts around the 57th min mark to bring on either Oscar Bobb or Doku. The last 2 games against Newcastle and Spurs he has left Grealish on the bench, alternating between Doku & Bobb and bringing either on as a substitute. You want Murdyk to develop, you will have to start pulling Sterling earlier than the 77th min mark Poch seems to do. Sterling has peaked and he isn’t going to get better, Murdyk is the unknown. You start pulling Sterling around the 60th min mark, you will get an idea of the type of player Murdyk is.
January 30, 20242 yr All season long I have thought Poch has stuffed up Mudryck. If it was me I'd have said, "you have a season at least, you are going to be coming on at the 60 minute mark for the first 10 games and then we will recalibrate."

Absolutely. Solanke is now the top player we thought he'd be. He has found his team and his feet at 26. Casadei and Andrey Santos are both widely recognized as top talents in their age group. Both were amazing in U20 Championships for their countries. Most of our young acquisitions have merits and that is why we paid premium of them. 100% all are NOT good to to end up being that good/success at Chelsea but to dismiss someone who is moving to a new country and is 18-20 after 5-10 games is just pure idiocy. We shouldn't judge Jackson, Enzo, Caicedo, Gusto and Gallagher too harshly either. All thrown into deep end at a club with massive expectations. We should be proud of these guys on how well they are doing. Success follows a bit later for these young guns. We also can't dismiss the fact probably 30% of them will be sold in the near future. For different reasons of course.

Interestingly, it was Shevchenkos debut season for Milan, wise was our midfield general, had a stonker of a game with Deschamp... think that's the only time I saw him. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/football/champions_league/448544.stm Edited January 30, 20242 yr by olderschoolcfc

Sterling on the right is a team player more often than not, gets good assists from there and links up well. Sterling on the left is selfish and does not pass to team mates for open goals. Just what I have noticed.

January 30, 20242 yr I mean he's not wrong. I think we need 2 strikers next season as opposed to just the 1.

For example, Washington has been available all the time that Jackson was away with Afcon and has barely featured. Seems unlikely that he will get much more playing time with more players available. Santos and Casadei were used a bit in pre-season so I can see them getting some minutes from the bench. Moreira seems less likely.

Klopp has played every single game since taking over 2015 with 100% full out pressing with high energy football without fail. He is considered one of the all time best managers ever to coach in the Prem. Might just about scrape top 5 at a push. Klopp has had all his goalscorers available at all times pretty much. We've been without a striker since Costa.
