Central progression deep in your own half is very risky.

Be that as it may but any team with aspirations to be a top one needs to know how to do it. Even Carrick had the balls to at least try it with the poor players he's got at his disposal. It didn't work out for them and they must have needlessly given the ball away for 4 out of our 6 goals or so but for us Caicedo is 100% hiding in the build up phase and if he do get the ball he'll pass it backwards or sideways. Do not know if thats instructions from the manager or what but if anyone believes we are getting anything out of Caicedo at the moment I think you are absolutely deluded.

Hear a lot of talk about us turning a corner but better teams will punish us. Last six games have also been Palace, Luton, Preston, Boro, Fulham, Boro with 4/6 games at home, one could hardly wish for an easier run of fixtures and 1 out of 6 games were comfortable for us.

For me the jury is definitly still out on wheter we've improved a littlebit or if its mostly down to fixtures and luck.

We should have beaten pool and arse. We beat spud and we drew against city. Not sure we have problem facing any of the "good" team.

Having Caicedo more involved with build up won't make or break the team. It really doesn't matter how you do build up as long you do it safely and effectively. In general we have no problem progressing the ball this season.

If we want to become a top team we need to be more clinical and stop conceding stupid goal. It is that simple.

We haven't won comfortably against Premier League oppositon since early October. Lucky to escape with a win in all 3 of our last PL games. We are neither safe or effective in anything we do and our build-up is atrocious, I think most would agree with that.

Silva doesn’t like passing to Disasi as he just gets it back. Eventually last night Disasi started to pass forward. Big shock for the team next season without Silva as know one else takes responsibility in breaking the lines with a forward pass.

Our defenders will naturally take more responsibility once he leaves. He’s an absolute legend but we’ll be a better team without him at this stage of his career. Maybe not immediately but Poch will be able to play a higher line than we do now. I think we’ll speed up our play without him too.

Im sure our CB’s have absolutely loved learning from him. How he lives and how he looks after himself.

it will be interesting to see who steps up once he goes. On ability alone I’d like to see Fofana and Colwill but part of me thinks Fofana will end up being a massive insurance claim. 3 huge injuries in 3 years suggests he’ll never be able to fulfill his potential.  What I’ve seen so far of Gilchrist suggest he will be challenging for a start before long. Hope so.

The pipe dream for me is the Cobham pairing of Gilchrist and Colwill :-)

Colwill needs to start playing regularly in central defense. Hopefully Chilwell can stay fit long enough to give Colwill more time in the middle.

Palmer can drop into the middle when needed for an extra body and leave Jackson/Nkunku up top.

*dependant on Reece's recovery. If his body can handle the load of playing wing back then he goes RWB and Disasi/Badiashile/Chalobah/Fofana at RCB.

Can't play back 5, it doesn't suit the board vision.

Now try to do that with back 4 with no chilwell, james, badi, fofana, chuku, nkunku.

They want to secure Xabi Alonso asap?

Yeah, can see them getting Alonso as he's done a fantastic job - unless he's holding out for Madrid job.

Klopp to Madrid maybe?

One thing I have learnt this season is that Poch's gacon test thing is a load of sh*te. Everyone is knackered after 60 minutes and we end up looking crap for the last half hour in virtually every game we play.

We play high pressing with the idea of quick passes in possession so naturally players will get tired towards the end.

Problem is we are nowhere near clinical enough to make this style pay off so we end up spending the last 20 mins or so of matches on the back foot defending.

Maybe just maybe, having a game just 3 days ago is the problem here

Maybe, just maybe, a managers job is to factor that in and change things to suit.

How?

Oh I dont know, maybe by adjusting the style and tactics to suit the squad available so he doesnt knacker them out, you know, like any good manager would. Rather than just doing the same high pressing, high energy thing with the majority of same players and expecting it to be ok. This isnt rocket science, this is a common sense approach used by managers since football began.

In this alternative world how do we win the game?
