So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

Featured Replies

The more I read his constant quotes, the more I think it’s a power play. He wants more control in the transfers.

Which, I have to say, is unusual for Poch. He never normally demands transfers, he didn’t at Spurs. but he clearly sees gaps.

So if Bayern are struggling to get a manager what makes us think we will get anyone better than Poch for now?

Maybe it's Bayern that Poch is after.

Very happy with us grinding out a very much needed win today, and if we get top 6 I'll say that's massive progress.

HOWEVER....

It wasn't results so much that put me off Pochettino, it was the piss poor defending that's not been solved all season and I can't see it being solved anytime soon. It's reminding me of the Lampard era when we were so easy to play against.

Even in the West Ham game we saw glimpses, we absolutely battered them but Bowen hit the crossbar three times and it was always the same, a cross into the box and we can't deal with it.

Fat chance getting top 4 next season if we're conceding 60 goals, it's not going to happen.

Oooh, I never thought of that. Reuniting with Dier and Kane as well. I’m sure Poch would find that tempting

Would be somewhat surprised if we didn’t at this stage.

Would require getting ahead of the barcodes who have 2 fixtures remaining Man U and Brentford away

While Brighton away and Bournemouth at home await. Possible but the ECL is more doable and that’s contingent upon United losing at Wembley

Compared to last season's borefest I'd be happy to have another season of Poch, even with the s*** defending.  He has solved our scoring problem so if we have a whole season playing like we have had in the 2nd half of this, we'd be comfortably in Champions League qualification places.  Id rather win 3-2, with the emotional highs and lows during the game, then a controlled but dull 1-0.

Another season of Poch and then handover to the new more guaranteed up and coming manager.  I've been going since 1982, so saw us before Gullit, Vialli, Zola era and the Roman era etc, I can honestly say, for a season where we have not won anything, I have been entertained and we are a good watch.

Although I followed a bit around 1970 I only really started following Chelsea from Ruud Hullitt time. I also think that despite many disappointments this has certainly been the best seasons since winning the champions league and if that was a great season for that reason, the most watchable season since Costa's time. Part of the reason is that it seems so obvious about how much upside there is in the squad.

Highly likely. At the very least he's saying his future is a two-way street. Not just a case of him possibly being removed but him possibly opting out. Seems to speak to some tension behind the scenes. He's not going to be wanting for options. Bayern, for example. Given the owners' preference for chaos theory who knows how it will pan out?

I've been Poch out since christmas.... BUT i think he deserves another season, what with players coming back now and better selections forced on him (having to play Cas and Gallagher together, although he still makes mistakes, Cuccurella hasn't done to bad since coming in and at least he tries hard) i think we only need a striker  who can score (i would go for Toney who is proven and won't cost anywhere near 100m)

There was a little bit of Potter ball yesterday... slow playing from the back that doesn't help but it seems like we know how to win now... and Jackson... he's getting better - fantastic cross from James.

his decision making and fluffing his lines is sooo frustrating ...we could easily have another 15 points with only a half decent striker.

Well let's be honest he's not exactly alone is he... with the exception of Palmer and maybe one or two others they've all struggled...

Problem is Striker and Goalie cost you points - fortunately we changed the Goalie early on... Jackson not an out and out striker but given it's his first season he's not doing that bad... and scored in the last three now ::ChELSeAFaN::

In Ivan Tony's best season in PL he has scored 14 goals from open play. He is 28yrs old and in his 3rd season of PL football.

I'll be more inclined to keep Jackson and focus on developing him rather than buying Toney at same price we got Jackson.

Palmer can play football. He went through a western football academy from a young age and under Pep for near 5 years now. His talent is refined. His numbers are good aided by 9 PK goals. But let's not act like he hasn't had some pretty anonymous games too. Overall he's still the best of the bunch but he hasn't had a great game every match.

Jackson by contrast has played more street football than organised refined football in his life. I'd focus on supporting him and developing him.

I've never been an all out fan of metrics or stats but in this day and age of hyper analysis you can't avoid it.

Well you've got more faith in United than every United fan on the planet

Oh I have fully seen how sh*t they are, and expect Arsenal to batter them today. However every once in a while they show up and, with all the talk of "beat Newcastle to 6th, get Europa league" it would be typical United to show up in the final and spoon it.

Like I said, it's an upgrade from last season.

Anyone who says otherwise is delusional, of course the defending has gone backwards but we're playing far better.

I don't see us getting into the top 4 next season if we keep conceding goals like this. You can only score yourself out of trouble so many times. We'll run into the exact same problems next season. And next season we need to make progress and fight for a top 4 spot.
