We needed a proper replacement for Fofana and this guy looks ideal. Chalobah is a  versatile fifth choice centre back but once we lost Fofana we couldn’t go into the season with Chalobah and Silva on the right of defence.

Silva will be gone next summer and Fofana is made of glass. Just need to see how this pans out, but as long as the signing works out we are sorted for CB’s for the next few years for sure.

I'd feel a lot more comfortable about this if Colwill at LB was genuinely being considered. You see the way how Pochettino used Cucurella this preseason and I can't help but feel this would be perfect for Colwill. It would also allow him to build a relationship with Mudryk (his passing) and Mudryk would then be allowed all the space he needs to thrive vs having Chilwell in that space with him and limiting it.

I see that as a good problem to have, I always see some fans complaining about not signing quality young players even though he’s 25 he can give us 7 or 8 years solid.

It won't. Only on paper. 

Can't have fans arguing we need strength in depth and at the same time say we need to form a partnership. 2 players, of which these are full blown internationals with high ceilings, will be left out wanting game time. Having 1 was manageable, 2, forget about it. 

So many angles on this. 

Silva likely in last year. Chalobah sale? Maybe even moving on from Fofana (soon to give up, but). Dare I say Colwill planning. 

Pick any one of the above and can see why they did this.

We don't have Fofana this year and we won't have Silva next year. 

Next summer we were always going to bring in a new defender, the Fofana injury has accelerated that. 

Never heard of him. Shame we can't seem to sign a CM for the first team.

I think it’s very harsh on Chalobah and it presents an issue 12 months time when 4 internationals are fighting for 2 spots.

I think Chalobah's pace is a little underestimated as well. Hopefully this guy has pace to get out of trouble. Looked a bit like a younger Koulibaly from the clips I have seen.

Spending another £100 million on a young player is not the right thing to do and am glad the co-sporting directors have refused. I hope we move on it’s not the end of the world.
