Something really wrong with our strategy

Does 3 goals in the champions league group phase makes you a proven champions league player?

July 29, 20232 yr This continues to be a fascinating approach by the current hierarchy. Is it official policy not to sign anyone past puberty now?

Ensico, Bouanotte for less in total than 1 Lesley in the past year or two. Who knows what we are doing but it's certainly not the Brighton MO.

This latest signing played in 26 matches last season in Ligue 1. 1,328 minutes. His Trasfermrkt value is stating €9m. These figures are always low, but we paid what €25m. Apparently there were other clubs interested, Apparently. Did anyone else bid for him?

You have to take the Transfermarkt valuations with a pinch of salt as they are based only on opinions of users of the web site, and not defined by any sort of algorithm, or other logic. Having said that, we are definitely overpaying in this instance, as in many others, and we're also selling cheap. Not great negotiating tactics in my book. This Lesley chap (why am I thinking 'Benidorm' LOL) is going to cost only £1.5m less than we got for Kovacic if all these numbers are to be believed. Crazy !

July 29, 20232 yr We seem to be signing some good young players, so I'm confident Les will be decent too. Still not entirely comfortable with spending so much on loan players, while we have holes in our squad anyway. Would rather have a top keeper, and a partner for Enzo than 3 or 4 players tearing up in a different league on loan.

July 29, 20232 yr This is the long term project the club wanted so the sooner fans accept that the easier it will be for you ladies and gents. I rather this than spending what is considered standard amount of money now for us whenever we go in for a half decent player who’s had one good season. Every clubs wants £65+ million now from us. Didn’t some fans always moan why we aren’t finding uncut diamonds yet when the club does try and do that some fans are moaning. I could only imagine the uproar had we signed Kante from France he would’ve stood a chance with some fans. Edited July 29, 20232 yr by El regreso

You might think he is worth £15m, but if no one is prepared to pay that, especially if teams are having to offer him slightly higher wages, then that is his price. I'm sure the club would love £15m for him!

Chelsea have reached an agreement worth around €27.5m for the 19-year-old. A medical is scheduled for the next 24 hours. probably paid in 27 years
July 29, 20232 yr The only reason we are payingso much for him now is that he would be one of the two DMs we want in Chelsea first team squad. Maybe a back up to Caicedo if we get him or anyone else. No way we are spending so much on a player we would loan to Strasbourg. Either that or his ceiling is so high that we are prepared to pay a premium on him now than to risk waiting until he has a breakout season and prices beyond our reach
