If we get a pasting here it could be really damaging for an already wafer thin moral,  I can't see anything but a Brighton win.  I am so worried about what our league position will be by December, I honestly can't see us picking up many points even if we improve our performances so I am conflicted, would it be favourable for us to go out this cup early so we can concentrate on survival or do we hope for a cup run to improve confidence but subsequently pick up more of the inevitable injuries we get every time we play a bloody game!?  I'm not even sure if I can bear to watch for the next month or so.  I wish I had another sport I could get into for a few weeks until all of this 'goes away'!

f**k we have to play Brighton again? Oh dear.  FFS!

Yup, be the best team we have played this season as well (since Liverpool did not turn up at the Bridge).

If we can defend well enough I guess we have a small chance of winning a shootout...

The last thing I`d expect us to win is a penalty shootout ... Enzo, Sterling, Jackson, Madueke and Mudryk taking penalties. Gives me a nightmare already.

Cricket mate, it's the World Cup shortly.

Brighton play every three days in this period, this is actually their fourth match in the space of 11 days and have Villa & Marseille away and Liverpool at home coming up shortly.

Think De Zerbi will rest some important players for this one. If they still manage to outplay and knock us out with a 2nd string team then alarm bells should be ringing loudly.

Perfect opportunity to enter this game with more feel-good. Players usually see competitions apart unlike us fans. They feel like they are failing in the Prem so this is a new opportunity.

We won them last time we played in pre-season and we can certainly do it again.

Does Sterling even deserve to start after his last 2 outings?

Again, what is the message we are portraying when our most experienced players are playing the worst yet continue to get selected?

No

That the manager has his favorites who are untouchable. Maybe Sterling is his broken Ivanovic.

This would be my selection as well if they are fit and ready to play (not sure about Noni?)

We need to win this one otherwise our treble hopes are dashed.

We were 1500/1 at the start of the season. Poch playing rope-a-dope 🙂

Does Jackson/gustos ban carry across to this one?

Taken from the official Premier League website (an article for Fantasy Football).

-----

Jackson will serve his suspension when Chelsea visit neighbours Fulham in Gameweek 7.

Malo Gusto (£4.3m) will be sat alongside him following his red card for serious foul play in Chelsea's defeat to Aston Villa.

His three-match ban will also see him miss the EFL Cup third-round tie against Brighton & Hove Albion and the Gameweek 8 trip to Burnley.

Unlike yellow cards, red cards are carried over to domestic cup competitions.

-----

I was hoping Broja could get 60 minutes, but Poch said he's only available for 20/30 so I guess it's Jackson again leading the line. I'll be happy if we see Madueke and Palmer starting.

Speculation is Sterling is going to replace Jackson for Fulham. It is expected he is therefore rested tomorrow. Maatsen may well be in at right back.

Speculated Poch side:

Petrovic

Maatsen

Disasi

Colwill

Chilwell

Caicedo (or Ugochukwu is Moises fails fitness test)

Gallagher

Madueke

Palmer

Mudryk

Jackson

I would say that the result against Fulham is far more important than tomorrow's game. That being said if we beat Brighton it gives us something to build on, and if we can stay in this cup to the later stages things might look a bit different if we have some more players back and a bit more confidence.
