Nico Williams - £43m Release Clause for Young Winger

Featured Replies

Feels like we're less of a football club and more a trafficking operation for bringing injured youth to London.

Under the age of 21?  Played a handful of football matches without scoring goals?  Struggling to maintain fitness and picking up a few niggles?

Stamford Bridge is the place for you providing you're happy to sign for 10 years.

I think the player is decent but I'm worried hearing this, after 3 terrible windows under Boehly if we're still exclusively signing children the club has no future because the ownership just seems unable to grasp that you have to blend the talented kids you sign with actual senior proven professionals to help them develop.

If he's in to replace Mudryk or Sterling, so be it. If we are buying him because we can't afford a striker ( like some suggested), just another unforced error. Young Winger with recurring hamstring issues, that's something we truly adores

It does make me wonder if I'm actually watching the latest season of Ozark, with this mob.

Surely this has to mean one of Sterling & Mudryk are off? Or even both? (Jackson at LF) Injuries aside, he looks like a good player. A proper striker would thrive playing off him considering how effective Williams is in 1 v 1 situations.

He does have muscular injuries similar to players his age however (like Jeremy Doku). Maybe they are treatable, or maybe he sits in the hospital bed next to James season after season.

If the fella from Talksport is to be believed someone is going to have to set up a JustGiving page to trigger the release clause anyway.

Why would he want to come play for Chelsea? He's going to play in the Champions league with his brother next year, didnt he signed a new contract at the start of the season ?

Despite everything, there is still a lure for Chelsea Football Club.

I truly give up in trying to understand the people running our club. So far with the exception of a few players (palmer, gusto) our transfer strategy hasnt worked. We are in dire need of a few tried and tested, experienced leaders (who stay fit), so what do we do, continue doing the exact same thing thats dropped us to a mid table team. Fking genius.

Only worth considering if we sell a lot of players we have currently. Why sign another winger when we have plenty in the ranks already

Depends on whether he can start and be a consistent contributor. In my opinion, unless Palmer is counted as a winger, none of our current crop can. I don't have an opinion about Nico Williams but, since I don't think any of our current can cut it, he might at least be worth investigating.

£50m but on £200k a week already.

That being said, I haven't seen a worse performance in a lot time than that Di Lorenzo one tonight, even Ayoze Perez came on and took the piss against him.

We're never going in for this guy. We can't afford hos wages and why would he drop to a conference league club

His wage demands are ridiculous though; at £300k/w he would need to be hitting Foden, Saka, Palmer type numbers.
