How did Juve defend? Low block?

Not necessarily. In fact Veiga often ventured out with the ball. Sometimes their defensive line was exposed as Savona kept being exploited by Dumfries who got through several times.

Motta is playing a relatively high line, controlling possession and Veiga is basically operating as a DM pushing forward from deep. Hard to say how he would do defending at Chelsea based on this, in this current system the only similar role is inverted LB...which he doesn't like

Why the f**k are we selling him?

Renato Veiga to Tottenham: '£30m' offer will be accepted

Chelsea defender Renato Veiga could be available for as little as £30million this summer as Tottenham weigh up an offer, sources have told Football Insider....

Easy profit, i suppose its the model. Seems strange to once again be selling one of the better signings we made. Looks far better and more versatile than any of our CB's.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised to read a similar headline for Santos in a month or two.

Think I'll select my Fantasy team next season from players that we've moved on who I think are better than what we've kept !

If Veiga moves, and stays in the PL, then he'll be in it.

Probably has too much character for BlueCo's model. Heaven forbid we actually keep any players that the fans actually want to bond with ... can't be interfering with their plan to ram Enzo Fernandez as the main man down our throats at every opportunity!

I'm not sure what the clubs/manager's fascination is with Tosin but Veiga already looks better.

He was free as well so you'd think they'd be dying to shift Tosin on for some of that sweet pure profit.

Is he honing his dark arts skills? Do I need to repeat my desire for a bruiser in the team? Is anybody ever listening to me?

So yeah, no 😟

Would be nice for us if he became our Pepe...

on the list to be sold, apparently. another pointless exercise, just sign to sell.

These are the ones I can get behind though. Flip immediately.

We made 1/3 of his transfer on his loan fee alone, and are likely going to sell at a pretty good book value profit. Good player but we have 4-5 CBs just like him in our books.

Can we use this guy? Did well for Juventus apparently and played in a massive stage yesterday for Portugal as a center back.

Yeah, I want him given a chance as well after getting more experience at senior level. Not intimidated quickly and he seems to be reading the game pretty well considering his age. Room for improvement as well of course, he has to speed up a bit.

I think he did well for us in the Conference. Big frame and good vision.

I think for 14m he is good find even if he doesn't fit into our team. For sure he is around 30m at this point.

I'm baffled he was not given a chance given our options at CB aren't exactly great. He's perfect for the ball playing CB Maresca wants, especially in a back 3.

Probably one of the best signings the board has made when you consider how cheap and unknown he was, would be a real shame if we sold him.

I will ask - currently at the Juve ground - will see who is around to ask about him.

(excuse the extreme cropping of the photo - there are a load of children in the original pic - only 1 of which is mine, so thought best not to plaster their images here)

At the ground for the Juve academy world cup. Opening Ceremony today.... come on Abu Dhabi Juve under 12s!

I liked what little I saw of him for us. I gather the loan was pushed for by him in order to get more minutes in the CB position with an eye on being selected for Portugal, but I definitely think he could feature there for us next season.

Colwill, Fofana (if fit), Veiga, Tosin and Chalobah would probably be one too many CBs under normal circumstances, but Fofana's fitness is a big uncertainty. I've not included Badiashile and Disasi, as I'm expecting/hoping they'll move on in the summer.

With the state Juve are in you're a candidate for manager.

Exactly the type of signing we should be making. Low fee, good experience, good enough to have a place in the squad.

Instead we loaned him out and will inevitably sell him while signing someone else sh*t.

Also has more Chelsea goals already than Deivid Washington, David Datro Fofana and Dujuan Richards are likely to get !

I’m all for flipping players for profit, with our ground capacity restricting us a bit with FFP and all that any extra revenue is welcomed (like a shirt sponsor). But let’s get our first team sorted, flip players that are surplus to our requirements.

Snubbing Veiga and Petrovic is a bit of surprise to me. But again I am not listening to those conversations so we don't know exactly how they went. I feel both have demanded to play to stay.

It is also a possibility they are used as assets to be sold with most value.

Anyway we have to wait and see after the summer what the squad is like to judg Veiga and Petrovic.
