15-18, max.

Arsenal (A) - draw

Spurs (h) - win

Brentford (a) - win

Ipswich (h) - win

Fulham (a) - win

Everton (H) - win

Liverpool (h) - lose

Newcastle (a) - lose

Man United (h) - draw

Forest (a) - lose

Unfortunately I don't think we are likely to get CL qualification unless we can somehow get 2 more wins.

Man City have by far the easiest run-in, with players returning from injury it would be unsurprising to see them end up 3rd. Brighton next week is their only real challenge.

Brighton have a hard run-in but by the same token they also have "6-pointers" vs Villa (H), Newcastle (H) and City (A), meaning everything is well within their hands.

Aston Villa also have a hard run-in and need to balance that with CL and FA Cup progression, but that tends to make teams match-sharp and ready rather than tired, and they have games against direct rivals which gives them more agency.

Newcastle have an easier next four games that could give them serious momentum for a CL place push. Their games against Arsenal and Everton are likely to be dead rubbers so they have a good chance of finishing really strongly.

Notts Forest have an easier run-in but have to play Villa away, and us at home. They would be favourites for both on current form, though, and they have done their hard work in the earlier part of the season.

We, however, have three local derbies, one historical rival, and two recent bogey teams (Brentford/Man U) while also having to manage the 'serious' part of the ECL.

Of the teams chasing 4th/5th my thinking is it will go to whoever can string three wins together.

If Forest can get 3 more wins I think they are home and hosed for CL, I don't see any of the other teams reaching 67 points.

With Haaland out, I don't think City have the momentum or the firepower unless De Bruyne pulls a rabbit out of a hat. The spectre of PL punishment is also looming really large.

Newcastle and Villa have the momentum, able to land 6 pointers. Newcastle have a home game in hand vs Crystal Palace and dead-rubbers bookending their game vs Chelsea. Strongest competitor for 4th place.

I think we need to win at least 7 of our last 10 and we're already behind on my most optimistic prediciton, lol. I'd say if we drop points in any of the next 5 we're going to narrowly miss out on CL. In a way Newcastle's resurgence is good for us as they have a strong chance of affecting Villa without really impacting us directly.

LOOKS LIKE EVERYONE THINKS WE WILL MISS OUT

A top-five finish is likely to be enough to book a spot in Europe's top competition next term and Newcastle jumped into fifth place on Monday night by cruising to a 3-0 win away at Leicester.

Forest are missing Wood, don't know when he will return, their next two fixtures are not easy and i predict they will only get 1 point at the most followed by cup semi final against City, IF they beat City they know a cup final is on the horizon and this can effect them, i believe we will need to beat Forest on the final day of the season to finish 5th

Naturally.

The odds of City, Newcastle and Villa all choking is extremely unlikely. Think I said at the start we will be 6th, no improvement from last season just worse football.

We’d have to largely rely on Forrest and Newcastle slipping up.

Forrest have a nice gap and relatively kind fixtures. I would be surprised if Newcastle finished ahead of us. I think they are overrated by many here and have a very tricky run in albeit with a game in hand.

No guarantees city finish ahead of us either. Especially with haaland out.

For us to get CL, three things needs to happen:

  1. We need to put in some big performances against some big teams

  2. We need to start scoring goals again

  3. We need to win away from home

Without it, we won’t get CL. I’m not confident at all that the team or manager can do any of the above.

We can get Champions League with top 5 now

What happens if, heavens forbid, United or Spurs win the Europa League and finish outside the top 5? Do they push out the 5th place team or does the Prem get 6 clubs in the CL?

the super computers at opta say we're finishing 6th and I have no reason to doubt them.

Two weeks ago they were saying we had a 50/50 chance of finishing 4th!

The timing of our poor run really couldn't be worse. As much as it is in our own hands we desperately need Newcastle and City to drop points.

posted a lnk on here about a month ago that said sixth i believe. Either way, from 17th to 3rd Nottingham have shown how it could have been done this year.

With a coach as bad as Maresca, we never had a chance of finishing top 4. Just shows how bad a PL season it has been for us to have been as high in the league as we were for so long.

Can't wait for this season to be over - it's been like a very bad dream. But with Maresca in charge next season it will only get worse. NO chance of any CL football at The Bridge for some time.

Still need 9 points to reach last seasons total. It's not going to happen, I don't have enough confidence in us to pick up 3.

Assuming this happens (which looks more likely by the game) it would be a pretty damning reflection over the replacement of Poch with Maresca. Yes, we have had Conf League this season but mostly played our B team in those games, Not to mention we have had far fewer injuries and were knocked out of both domestic cups very early this season. Compare that with a final and semi-final last season. I think the SD's and the owners need to explain how their decisions have set us back so much this season.
