He’s just not PL quality, it’s that simple. One semi decent performance against Wolves reserves can’t mask the fact that he’s pony.

Case in point.

Found back of the net against relegation stricken and a club in crises Wolves, as well as a 10 men A**x. (who are sh*t even with 11 men).

Found a similar goal scoring situation against Spurs, compeltely skies it.

With the amount of space and ball he had today, it's inexcusable to perform like that. Estevao was feeding on nothing in the first half and he still offered more than Gittens.

I stand by what I said the other day, Gittens is a wuss. Every dribble, every take on, every pass, every shot, you can easily make this guy mess up just by breathing on him. He should toughen up or find another sport, because his physicality is the worst I have seen. He makes Saul Niguez look strong.

Borussia Dortmund received over £50,000,000 BlueCo CFC LDN received Jamie Jermaine Bynoe Gittens.

No further explanation is required.

Still not convinced he is better than Tyrique George; and even if he is the difference is marginal, and not worth paying him at least 4x the salary of the former.

For £55m you expect a decent footballer, but he is just awful. Can’t believe we spent £100m on 2 LW, and don’t have 1.

The sensible strategy last season would have been to have Sterling as the starting left winger and George as the understudy, which could probably have continued into this season.

But instead we've probably got 5 left wingers we'll need to offload now. Collective loss on all of them will be at least equivalent to a class leading front of shirt deal LOL

I hope it's just that he needs time but man, this does not look good. A lot of money which should have been spent on a quality CB.

It's crazy. Gittens and Garnacho were both gambles. If you're going to gamble, you gamble on one, not both.

I sometimes want to give our directors the benefit of the doubt, thinking that maybe they are looking at some data that we mortals don't see, but how can anyone explain this purchase? I looked up his stats in the Bundesliga last season and see he scored 8 goals in 32 appearances. How could anybody think he would be any good in the PL? Timo Werner was a world beater in the Bundesliga and even he couldn't hack it in the PL. Any moderately sensible person could see this signing would be a disaster but it seems the club is ran by idiots

It's all well and good to buy him if you think he has potential, but 50M for those kinds of stats in the Bundesliga is insane

It's this list, and comparisons like this article, plus a personal vouch from Joe Shields, that had them keen:

They tried to sign him (and Garnacho) in January, invested in the hype, thinking he'd be prime for a mega-money move in the summer. They were right, though of course it was Chelsea overpaying the mega-money. Even now a quick Google shows you just how much Gittens fell off post-January 2025.

Between Gittens, Wirtz, Xavi Simons, and Ekitike (given the price), summer 2025 is beginning to look like a disaster for PL clubs who bought attackers from the Bundesliga. Put into context, Gittens looks the best 'value' for money of that lot. Yikes.

Agree with everything else except this; he will be the hardest to shift. Everyone else on that list will find suitors who will gamble on a change of environment, but with Gittens unless we find a Bundesliga club we are stuck with him. As TheSage pointed out; there is just little to go on, and should never have been bought for that fee.

He is 21, even if he flop. In 3 season you can probably get 30 m for him

That's good then, only lost about half his value and wasted god knows how much on his salary.

That is not a problem. No different to buying stock.

From who? He will be 24yrs then, and seen as damaged goods. Why pay £30m for a bust from a a big club on £100k/w, when you can sign a Semenyo from the Championship for £8m or an Ndiaye from Ligue 1 from £14m on low wages.

I agree, but I suspect all these billionaire owners will conspire to swap players around at inflated prices for their FFP purposes

Just cause you flop at a big club doesn't mean you won't do well at a lower club with less pressure. Fulham bought Smith-Rowe for same price and his wages are not far of what Gittens earns.

The issues for me isn't that we can't get £30m for Gittens, the issue is we've overpaid for him and unless he becomes elite which is unlikely in itself we are guaranteed to make a loss. Someone I'm sure will come along and mention profit on book value but that's a very silly way to look at transfers as it encourages reckless spending.

That'll still be break even at best. That is without the inevitable lengthy layoff when he buggers up his hamstring or gets some other injury that sidelines him for months on end

Nah, far from it. First he's English, which attracts its own premium. Secondly, in the new Squad Cost Ratio environment, low wages are king. Gittens and Simons will be far easier to move than Wirtz or Ekitike, albeit I would not be surprised if Bayern went in with cut-priced offers for either next summer.

On the flipside we have BlueCo handling the negotiations so...
