June 2, 20251 yr I thought we’d already signed him and he played for us in the conference? Or was that Amuugo?I can’t keep track with all these signings.

Essugo to join officially this summer and Quenda next summer. This lad is meant to be part of the squad for the coming season and is meant to be going to the CWC with us.
June 3, 20251 yr I’d like to think he stays, and we have five options in Caicedo, Enzo, Lavia, Santos and Essugo. But that’s also as I’d like to see a 3 man midfield more often, with Palmer RW, Estevao LW, and let’s say Delap thru the middle! But can see Essugo or Santos losing out here. Where would Essugo loan though - he’s coming from a pretty big club as it is. Anyway, welcome! Can’t wait to see him play.

June 3, 20251 yr Another signing I can’t wrap my head around. He wasn’t good enough to start for Sporting so he was loaned out to Las Palmas one of the worst teams in La Liga. We have now paid £18m for him to be Caicedo’s backup. At 20yrs old and only 58 first team appearances he is clearly not ready to play regularly for a top team, he needs at least 2 seasons of top level football to get up to speed. Caicedo isn’t someone you take off at 75min, so I don’t understand where he will see game time. A well run team won’t have made this signing, would have prioritised Ugochukwu who is a year older, and with 98 first team appearances well ahead of Essugo development wise. Seems to be a trend with the club just stockpiling players without thinking about their development.

They sign a player, then a few months later they are onto the next "big thing" and couldn't give a sh*t about the last one they signed. Squad is absolutely full of them.
June 3, 20251 yr Another player to add to the bought to sell on for profit but will sell for a loss list.

June 3, 20251 yr I think he’s a good player tbh. Will help close games out and feature in the cup games I’d imagine.

We need a deep midfield if we want to not only compete on all fronts, but sustain champions league football. Essugo looks like a great tackler and ball winner and a player that could potentially mold into another Caicedo.
June 3, 20251 yr I get the idea of needing a deep midfield, but we had already signed Lavia, Ugochukwu and Andrey Santos, and beyond that there is the Cobham lads like Rak-Sakyi, Dyer and Walsh, so why we needed to go beyond even that for KDH and Amougou, and now Essugo is absolutely beyond me. Nothing to do with balanced squad-building for sure ...

Nothing to do with balanced squad-building for sure ...In the hypothetical Lavia doesn’t solve his injury issues, we’ll only have 3 midfielders to rely on for a League and Champions League campaign. Santos can fill in for Lavia and Enzo, whereas Caicedo has no one. Lesly is a fair shout but Essugo’s profile looks more akin to the way we use Caicedo. We not only have to compete, we need to focus on sustaining champions league football. We’ve just seen Villa drop out and Newcastle almost bottling it under alleged better managers. It will be entirely possible we suffer the same fate if we don’t have enough quality in depth.

June 3, 20251 yr I think this boy has potential, that being said the team is filled with this archetype.Clearlake is really creating a battlefield of potential and only the best survive. Hunger games and all that
