It could have definitely been worse, and we have managed to avoid complete disaster which was a fear of mine. My issue with them has always been the unnecessary risks and weird decision making. That first full season where they sacked Tuchel, hired Potter, bought in a lot of terrible footballers and dragged us down the table was needlessly risky in my opinion. The following season was a little better, but still a mess, and a lot of last season was a mess too.

I really do believe that without the Champions League and CWC money, we would have been f**ked. If we finished 6th and went out of the CWC in the last 16, I don't see where we would have got the money to go for Delap, Hato, Pedro, Gittens, Simons, Garnacho and probably a new CB now too. None of that money plus the UEFA fine would have crippled us. We would likely have had to sell one of our high profile players. These high stakes risks aren't something I can get behind. Luck will eventually run out.

Who has played a victim card? You can't also expect to get matured, balanced and consistent football from young players. Statistics and history of this game pretty much proves that. We have aquired this brand of players for a future investment. To me much more exciting than just buying the ready product for a fortune and see them fail and have bad resell value. We need to be patient with this squad and these players.

You have no idea if the long term goal is investment in the future of the team or if these are financial transactions for flipping for profit. How can you know that. It might be your opinion on the developments at the club so far but there are many with quite different views.

I tend to agree with @Scott Harris that if we'd missed out on a couple of fortuitous turns in our favour, which granted we have maximised the benefit of, we would be looking at a very different summer. This is not strategy and planning bearing fruit, but for Tyrique George's equaliser and Neto's winner down Leno's throat we could just as easily be selling Palmer and Colwill this summer.

It’s a friendly, with our best CB out for the season already as of only a few days ago. Not on anyone that.

Our defending has been alright so far, Leao was offside for his goal meaning defense did their job. This is also a friendly I must repeat lol

I fully believe we lose credit as fans when we bash our ownership/leadership about every little thing and for any minuscule cause. It makes us all appear as we know f**k all, which is mainly true.

It's the last game before the season starts. The charity shield is today. We have to treat this as a competitive game and prepare properly for next week, especially defensively. Now down Trev as well.
