Spurs are playing PSG in a European "super cup" in August. ( Europa winners v CL winners)

It would be great if somehow we win this and Tottenham get battered ( everywhere they go) just a few days before the first PL games !

Come on you BLUES !

and heartbreaking if that unlikely scenario is reversed....

We have spent gazillion in the last 2/3 seasons

You know what I meant mate. Signing wonder kids aren’t going to get us any closer to PSG immediately, they’d know we would need a world class signing or two.

It’s all moot talk anyway we might end up winning tomorrow.

Will Maresca try to Munich it, and sit back and survive... I don't think he will (too stubborn) and also - I don't think our players have enough grit and determination to play this way and get a result.

So I think we will revert to type, and Maresca ball.... try to have loads of possession, knock it around between the defenders and DM endlessly - and not get embarrassed by an avalanche of a scoreline. He will try and coax the PSG players to press us further up the pitch, and then try and get it to a runner to run on to.

In short....lots of boring possession for the sake of possession - without really ever threatening - a 1v0 or 2v0 loss

I think you're underestimating just how good this PSG side is at pressing and forcing mistakes so no need to coaxing them becase they'll be doing it anyway, not to mention how prolific they are in front of goal. We won't be able to knock it around between the defenders and DM endlessly as you put it, in fact we won't get any time on the ball and will be lucky to keep possession for a bit and then it's back to defending and trying to make things difficult for PSG.

Actually before we even think about how to attack, we'll have to figure out how to stop them from scoring. No top side in Europe has managed to figure it out this season and some were absolutely destroyed in the process.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic and we do have a chance, but this is by far the toughest opponent we've played all season.

i dont disagree.... i just think this is how Pepellini will go about it.

I know they are completely different to the Barcelona tikki takki teams.

But both teams are similar in their relentless desire to win the ball back quickly. They are /were both very successful at it, and that's all down to sheer hard work and determination .

I’ve been thinking about which set up Marescawill go for and I think he will play his system with the inevitable tweaks he makes.

I’ve not watched many PSG games but I’d imagine they are well used to playing against teams who sit back and play on the break.

If we had a keeper who could cope with their press I’d be more confident that we could take them on playing our normal formation but he’s the weakness and PSG know it.

Yeah, I don't feel optimistic in our chances. I think our best shot is with starting a midfield three of Enzo, Caicedo, and Santos and going for a neutralization of their midfield to prevent Vitinha and Ruiz from dictating the tempo of the game.

I don't think we will win

BUT, i think we will compete better than Real Madrid did and I think IF we outwork them enough, our superior physicality could be a difference maker

I’m not sh*tting it like everybody wants us to if Villa can beat them we can beat them. The talent is there we showed at the end of the season we have the grit, I think we will do better than what even Chelsea fans think. We do well against teams like this is competition football. Either way great fixture for us as supporters and great experience for the team

So we not only have to have booze, but also the trusted fork to stab our eyes out?

I do not want to be a negative ninny, but today I can't help it. On the upside: I'm often also a negative ninny that's wrong about things, so....
