Just as well. Gotta feel sorry for the poor sods who watched that today and have to come back on Tuesday to watch a game we've already lost!

That will be me…

That was such a sh*t game but so predictable. I don’t where to start, the whole thing stinks of mediocrity and of not giving an actual f**k…. Depressing, we could become Spurs in a year or two.

Thought Enzo played well today esp after moving back deeper as a CM; he found many good passes including a late one to Delap.
For me, Palmer, Enzo, and James were the only good performers on the pitch today. OK Sanchez did well tbf.

Delap does not look like a PL footballer at this time; I’d rather see Guiu. At least he won’t be chasing his first touch on every long ball.

Jesus Christ. Enzo played well? You writing xmas cracker jokes? He was f**king awful. Utterly invisible for the majority of the games. Yes there was a few good passes but that's the minimum you expect from a professional footballer playing in the Premier league.

He certainly wasn't thr only player who was poor today but he was still f**king terrible.

He, along with many others, are are on a list of players you'd sell in an instant if we got an offer and if FFP didn't exist.

Agreed. He has had some decent games this season but I thought he was very poor today.

They can't. Everybody is drowning their sorrow from their illegal hip flask. Ask @Boyne

Alas I didn't have a hip flask with me today. I'll take a hip flask with me when I go to tomorrow's game. Atmosphere was subdued and not much cheering. A lot of booing at the end of the first half and at the final whistle.

After the game ended up in Crown pub not far from South Kensington tube station. Watched the France v England rugby union match. A few raucous French supporters in the pub. Also a few Irish supporters hoping England would win so Ireland would the title.

I really don't see much change over the 16 games LR has had as manager, when he came in the noticeable difference to Maresca was he didn't make stupid subs...I think against PSG he did exactly that although today our bench was so weak Delap had to come on.

That said, the need by both LR and EM to change a CB nearing the end of the game fills me with the fear of another goal incoming.

Our squad is week and I think our Manager along with half the squad is Championship quality.

Hard watch again today.

Agreed. Hard to believe our squad is so weak considering the funds invested by Clearlake.

Couldn't disagree more.

And if he was invisible, what to say about the other players on the pitch? did Garnacho do anything the entire game? Caicedo was going to get another red.... The defense line was a joke and conceded an amateur level goal... Joao Pedro was poor and Delap was worse. Cole was decent except for no end product... Even the beloved Lavia (dunno why never seen the guy play) looked a bit lost this time esp dealing with counters.

and we are talking about Enzo... always Enzo.

Everyone strolled around like they couldn't give a sh*t. Caicedo was the worst, I don't think he broke out of a jog the whole time he was on.

Palmer and Gnash were trying but you're right...

It's like they're just going through the motions and a lot of that I put down to the wrong midfield set up (especially that twat Enzo)

Add that to a back line who cannot keep a line

And a forward line that spent 75% of their time trying to go through the middle that Newcastle had packed with players and what do you get

An easy win for Newcastle - they barely got out of 2nd gear - 2 rows of 4 and a quick break now and then from Gordon - 1 up and we were in trouble

Another sh*t show from us.

Next manager will be the same issue. Rosenior, Maresca, Pochettino, Potter, all horrible, all playing the same brand of football.

they have the same issue - because they are choosing to.

It is not hard to get them to play fast, urgent football.

1) tell them to play fast urgent football and stop pissing around with it between the defenders

2) if any player refuses. drop them

it will soon fix it

No, you spoke about Enzo. @loz disagreed with you, and the vast majority of us agree with him. He acknowledged that the whole team was sh*t but disagreed with your point that Enzo did well. The guy has little if any mobility or strength, so the 30% of his game when he does have the ball at his feet is overshadowed by the 70% of the time that he doesn't and he is not affecting the game, not tracking back quickly enough, not winning tackles etc.

For me, it was another shockingly bad performance with stunted, on dimensional, classroom tactics and in game management from a PR consultant put in as a Head coach,

heh, “the vast majority of us” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. I counted six likes. Even if it were 600, that would still be an insignificant sample to claim consensus over something this subjective. For the record, I totally stick by my claim that Enzo Fernandez had a good game today.... welcome to add "compared to the rest of the team if it makes it easier for you."

In my opinion, this forum has developed an irrational dislike of Enzo Fernandez. It shows up in games like this one, where he was far from being the problem, yet you can read post after post singling him out before anyone mentions the actual issues. Please do check any — or all — player ratings and see how different this forum’s take on Enzo is from almost everywhere else. I'm not the outlier here.

“Affect the game”? As soon as João Pedro dropped deeper into a CAM position to accommodate the embarrassingly poor Delap up front, Enzo moved back into CM. When Lavia came on, Enzo was playing as the #5. His role and responsibilities changed multiple times during the game.
Was he ineffective when playing higher as a CAM (more like a makeshift CAM)? Yes. But so were João Pedro and Palmer whenever he drifted inside.
According to some here, we should've destroyed Newcastle after all, the much maligned Pedro Neto did not play....

Regarding the tactics, I couldn’t agree more. On the other hand, I was also one of the few around here who didn’t think Maresca was the main issue, nor that replacing him with a nobody coach would suddenly be the answer.

I think a lot of the issues with Enzo and the optics surrounding him are due to what we’ve previously had in similar positions.

He doesn’t have the engine of Kante.

He doesn’t have the G/A’s of Super Frank.

He doesn’t have the passing range of Fabregas.

He doesn’t have the tactical nuance of Ballack.

They were the ‘Superstars’ of that position that we thought we were getting with Enzo.

He’s more of a Jorginho type player, he can put in some acceptable performances but more often than most he doesn’t ‘takeover’ or control a game and his limitations become exasperated.

I don’t think Enzo is THE problem, but he is a problem. If we’d have paid £30/40m for him I guess we’d say he’s an ok player doing an OK job, but for us he’s never shown glimpses which reflect his price tag. At £30/40m he could take his place in the rotation of subs but no one is going to drop a player who cost that much!

I also get the feeling that Fofana might make a decent DM but he’s certainly not a centre-back - why weren’t we in for Guehi? Also, our army of SD’s must be able to find some remote part of the world where there’s a better GK than what we have!

What a shambles!
