And just as you wrote this, Villa go 2-1 up at Old Trafford. I am torn whether to cheer that or despair over it.

Yes we can which is why, despite it putting Liverpool top, I want Villa to win today

We're still thereabouts so yes we can...the reality of it though is we havent been good enough this year and I see us dropping more points than our rivals.

of course we can. until its mathematically impossible then anythings possible. look at this season, utd cruising but as soon as they lose to liverpool then its wide open again. last season in spain barca were romping it yet madrid still caught and overtook them. it may well be my natural optimisim, but until its official that we cant win then i will still believe we can win the league.

Our run in looks the toughest of the three and the form team has to be the Scousers, the main thing they have that I think we still lack is a big will to win..

we haven't had that too often this season and although I don't think UTD have been as good as the plaudits suggest and Liverpool have performed like they really should have been performing for the last few years we on our day are capable of winning our remaining games just as Pool are capable of losing one and scoring less goals than us in the remaining matches,

I was gutted UTD won today as another loss would have shaken them and I think it was there for the taking..If we cant catch up three points on the Scousers and better their goal average we don't deserve it but the game in hand UTD have and the win today getting them back on track has hurt us badly.

Optimism must shine through though and I couldn't bring myself to hope for a UTD win while its sttill remotely possible we could nick it.

We blew it away to Fulham and at home to Newcastle , games we should have won especially the Fulham game , a set piece we should have defended .

No .We dont have enough quality up front apart from Drogs and we struggle from set pieces.

Don't think we will. But remember a few months ago we were just hoping to make the CL spot!

Also, Liverpool and Man U seem to have a knack for scoring late goals, while we have a knack of letting them in!

Poor logic, I'm afraid. United scored their winner at 2:30-ish into stoppage time, so the extra 2 or so min were to the benefit of Villa. Villa deserved with their play to get something, but Reily, whom I hate with a passion, had nothing to do with it.

Obviously, mathematically we can, but we won't. This season we were very good at blowing our chances when teams in red dropped points. No reason to think we will change that habit for the run-in.

Not this season I'm afraid. We didn't blow it against Spuds or Fulham, we blew it against Manu and Liverp**l. If we'd only manage to draw them both we'd be probably top of the table. We have lost to our main rivals this year so they deserve to win it.

Of course we still can do it but it is highly unlikely.

I think we deserved more from this weekend. Liverp**l almost drew against Fulham but due to a lucky goal they won. ManU almost drew against Villa but they somehow found the winning goal. We were the only ones with a comfortable victory against newly revived Newcastle side.

Hope we can kick Liverp**l out of the CL!!

I can understand the pessimism of some posters in here, and I can understand the "Never Say Die" attitude of some, who will not concede until the mathematics make it impossible, what I CANNOT understand is this "WE don't deserve it " bollox! If we end up winning the league, we will have deserved it because we will have MORE POINTS than any other team.

Like others, every time Utd play now I don't know whether to cheer them on or hope they lose. All the time we are still in with a shout I guess I should hope they drop more points but that is unfortunately far out-weighed by the very thought that Liverp**l are the ones who benefit. If it's a choice of Utd or that lot winning the league - well there is no choice really - it just MUSTN'T HAPPEN.

Right now, if someone gave me the option (you know - like a Genie!!) that we could knock Liverp**l out of the CL but if we do, they will go on to win the league, I would say no (as long as they end up with nothing).

mathematically we can win it, but i just cant see it, i'm sure we will run the mancs and the dippers all the way

but i think we will now concentrate on the champs league and the fa cup a little more as they are more realistic for us to win

If united had of lost yesterday then we were right back in it but now i'm not sure. If Utd win their game in hand they'll be 7 points ahead of us. They still have some tricky games though
