It may well just be a buy young, sell up strategy though

It may well just be a buy young, sell up strategy though Without doing the calculations it seems we've spent over £100m on these prospects that probably won't player for us this season. Our youth/loan army/Strasbourg collection is more expensive than most premier league first teams. I think you're right though most of these are bought to sell for profit, funnily enough we are owned by an investment firm are we not?

Diego Costa is expensive and quite literally no better than Kepa. Maignan although very good, will cost a fortune and is a bit one footed. Other than short term options like Dibu Martinez or Keylor Navas, there isn't a cost effective keeper available that also won't get in the way of Slonina.
July 4, 20233 yr Martinez is the only one who would interest me but he's a pr*ck but not in a good way.

July 4, 20233 yr I just hope all our young prima-dona superstars behave themselves and act professionally. Lets hope that Pochettino doesn’t have to send too many players to the naughty step at Cobham during training.

Irony is one of Onana/Costa will end up at Utd and do well. Slonina is at least 2 seasons away from been good enough, nothing stops us from buying Onana/Costa and if Slonina proves to be good enough we cross that bridge at that point. IMO. Martinez & Navas are not good enough at this point in their careers for a top club. Edited July 4, 20233 yr by ducavis
July 4, 20233 yr Matheus Franca (AM) 19 year old lad. Crystal Palace and West Ham have sent scouts. Newcastle has declared an interest with his club. Prior interest of Sporting has gone. Manchester City and Chelsea, who had him recommended by an ex-player, hold long-term interest but neither are discussing a transfer with his club as there needs to be a solution regarding representation first. Chelsea may want to go after him and loan him to our French team.

July 5, 20233 yr Apparently Pochettino has a shortlist of 3 players to recruit from to become one main striker Kolo Muani from Frankfurt Dusan Vlahovic from Juve Lautaro Martinez from Inter No deal is expected quickly and will likely go on to nearer the end of the window for whatever reason.

I also wouldnt know who to go for at this point.

One on hand, there is no value in this current market. I'd rather we wait and go after someone like Jan Oblak next season, who even if a bit expensive would bring guaranteed quality and experience to the team. Best case scenario is Kepa has a good season and can be used as a makeweight. Donnarumma could be available next summer as he only has two years to run on his deal, and Maignan would also be a year later into his contract too. On the other hand, Kepa is more likely a disaster waiting to happen and is in no way suited to being a prospective top-4 keeper. If Kepa falters early season we could be in a more desparate situation come January. Edited July 5, 20233 yr by SydneyChelsea
July 5, 20233 yr I think we should target Raya now Spurs have gone elsewhere. They want 40m but he only has 1 year left so we can hopefully drive them down towards end of the window.

I would even go for Sanchez now as well on the basis that the landscape could be totally different in two years when Slonina may be ready. Edited July 5, 20233 yr by WhiteWall

July 5, 20233 yr I would like Raya, not Sanchez though. I also believe is Slonina is that good, then he should be number 1 now.

Is there any evidence anywhere that he is that good and ready for the PL now. I haven't seen any comments or articles of an official nature suggesting that is in the clubs thinking. In fact even during the Mendy departure I haven't seen any comments from anyone at the club about any of the keepers except possible comments suggesting they are happy with Kepa at the moment
