We're still linked with Disasi although so are Newcastle apparently.

And City have just signed Gvardiol so looks like Laporte may be on his way out.

Gvardiol not done apparently

Anything Mbappe is clickbait. He’s not coming to Chelsea.

I really hope this doesn't become a thing amongst our more erm...emotional fans. It's obviously a load of bollocks.

You all heard DKW, sensible advice. Very clear and concise.....

I think a player swap would work. Lukaku, Ziyech and CHO for Mbappe plus £7m would surely tempt PSG, as they'll get nothing if they don't sell him and he leaves on a free next summer. Go for it, Todd.

Hey, PSG, how for much for Mbappe?

£100m

How much for him if we throw in Lukaku?

£120m...

Bugger.

Bring Mbappe in and the dressing room is ruined and I feel the healthy looking project.

I feel we are basically teasing PSG with the situation. Which for them is horrible to say the least.

I think these rumours are there because of Pochettino's past and it is easy for media to write about Boehly wanting some big name.

We have been linked with Mbappe, Neymar, Hakimi, Veratti, and Marquinhos all just in this window. All after PSG apparently came out and said Don't ever darken our doorstep again, after the Ziyech affair in January. Is it all bollox, who knows, Lol.

Apparently the Saudis are willing to pay 1billion euros (300mill to PSG, 700mill to Mbappe) for just one season of Mbappe in the Saudi league and then let him leave for Real for free next summer.

That's when you know money does not matter to the truly rich.

In no way is that true. If so, that surely needs to be looked at.

Indeed. There's no doubt it'll be a clear breach of FFP.

But what can anyone do? Ban them from the UCL? They're not in it.

Perhaps they'll get a fine. Maybe even a transfer ban. But they won't care if they manage to secure one of the best players in the world in his prime.

It's sportswashing - and despite it being disgusting, it'll probably work to some extend with the league already getting publicity due to the transfers.
- Sadly they'll probably also get more viewers.

I suppose their financial analysts are predicting it'll legitimize their league and more viewership will come as a result, to a point where 1bn will look like peanuts after several years.

Don't think they care about making the money back.  FFP is only a UEFA rule so they aren't breaking any rules.   The fact Mbappe could make £70k an hour is ridiculous even in footballer terms.

On the plus side this transfer may make the Saudi league more appealing to Lukaku.

Brilliant move by the Saudis. It is a win for everyone. PSG get an world record fee. Saudi get the profile they crave. Real get the carrot of signing Mbappe after 1 year. Mbappe gets riches beyond his wildest dreams - I cant see him wanting to leave to Madrid if the rumored salary is true.

Call it what you like, sportswashing, cheating, financial doping - it is all irrelevant.

The EPL had the good years, and when the premier league became a thing, with huge broadcast deals, we were the best league, with the most money and could attract the best talent. What goes around comes around. With Saudi money, they can blow Europe out of the water.

It is a business, and if they have the means and resources to throw money at the issue, then fair play to them. They will reap the rewards in due course - be it via people watching the league, tourism, tv rights or winning a world cup.  I live in the UAE, and one thing is for certain. The gulf countries are serious when it comes to being considered a global player. Be that in tourism, politics, development, investment or in this case, sports. The top down approach that the countries have, free of bureaucracy allows for such decisions to be made a pace.  The west wont like it. English clubs wont like it. But I tip my hat at the sheer ambition and brass that they have.

This is fascinating, and do not disagree with many of your comments.  The middle-east is pushing to diversify as no one quite knows how far the oil money will go (lets be frank, its going to continue during my lifetime!).  The transfer of wealth is staggering to middle-east, but under that is the diversification and investment of that in a variety of assets (banking, land), and more notably to us all now, culture, primarily through sport (F1, golf, football).  Can't see them ever selling it back, so bit of a turning point for sport as we knew it for so long.

I may have this totally wrong, but isnt the Saudi Arabian PIF essentially the governments money thats been used to buy and pay footballers massive wages?  I'm not sure how that would fly in most other countries, although most of our money is syphoned off to give to rich people anyway at least they're honest about it and don't try to hide it.

Can not wait for Mgbappe to say it's always been my dream to play in the Saudis league. It's a huge win for everyone involved, and for that amount of money his agent may just persuade him to make the move. A huge publicity win for the Saudis too ( if they haven't had enough of that), people get paid by them will not have a single bad thing to say. I mean 700K for Henderson, best paid manager job for Gerrard, I'm sure those guys would speak out against inequality and government backed funding into football.

Yep that's right. The PIF is a sovereign wealth fund.
