Kevin De Bruyne

Featured Replies

Certainly he'll be involved. But a strike force of Lukaku, Torres and Ba won't win us the league. I think we need to get rid of Torres and Ba and bring in two new strikers. One world class like a Cavani/Lewendowski, etc... and one of a similar level to Lukaku who can fight for a place with him.

I agree we do need a new CF i would be happy with a new CF,Lukaku and Schurrle as third choice while he sometimes plays on the wing too.I think to have 2 new CF and Lukaku battling for one CF spot could be a problem .Lukaku needs to play otherwise he should go out on loan.

The thing about De Bruyne playing in central midfield is that when he's played there, he's played higher up the pitch than he'd be playing in a 4-2-3-1. He's been part of a midfield 3 giving him more license to go forward. From what I've seen he also spends more time running with the ball than I'd like in a 2 man midfield. He'd need to improve defensively to play there for us just like Oscar would if we were to play him there. The reason I prefer Oscar in that role is because I prefer possession based football and controlling the game and I feel that Oscar would give us that, whereas De Bruyne always seems too direct for my tastes.

Now the obvious argument is to play a 4-3-3 and play counter attacking football. We may well do next season, but I personally prefer controlling games and we have the players to do just that. In a 4-2-3-1, we can afford to play a smaller striker as the attacking midfielder gets closer to the striker and we can have better interplay between them. In a 4-3-3 we'd more likely have to play Lukaku or Ba. I don't think Lukaku is quite there yet and I'm unsure of Ba. The only top class striker we could possibly sign who could play in that system is Cavani, who we've been priced out of, whereas there are far more high quality strikers who can play in a formation with another player close to them, players such as Jovetic, Higuain etc.

I guess it's just down to my personal preference in what I think is more successful tactically and I think generally possession is more successful than counter attacking as with the counter attacking style, it's relying on your opposition to come out at you, which doesn't happen as often in this league as it does in others (excluding Italy).

I feel that the 4-2-3-1 gives better possession higher up the pitch and in better positions as long as you have a good passer in the midfield duo. De Bruyne is a good passer, but I feel he goes long more than he needs to and that gives you a higher chance of losing the ball needlessly. We kind of have the players for both systems, and personally I'd hate to see Mata moved out wide no matter how free a role he's given, he'd still have to track the full back a lot. He'll do it and do it well enough, but I'd rather we didn't and that means that it's either De Bruyne or Oscar playing deeper and I feel De Bruyne is better out wide than Oscar is and Oscar is better defensively and at keeping the ball. I'm probably wrong, but this is the way I see it.

Well, he's a decent winger, but he's potentially a world-class central midfielder.

you need to work on that OCD man

his best position may not be established yet, but considering he spent most of his career playing as a winger, successfully, its ridiculous to be so adamant about him not being a winger

his long balls are great but so are his crosses. he is also a very direct player that doesnt keep possession very well.

Zorc was apparently quoted as saying that De Bruyne still wants to join BVB. Hope it isn't true, but if we can get Gundogan in exchange then maybe.

on SSN:

The future of Kevin de Bruyne remains uncertain and Borussia Dortmund claim theChelsea winger wants to join the UEFA Champions League runners-up. De Bruyne had also been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen as part of the deal which has taken Andre Schurrle to Stamford Bridge. Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said: "We are interested in the signature of Kevin De Bruyne. I am able to confirm the player does want to make a transfer to our club."

Do not like.

The only way I'd accept the departure of KDB, is in a straight swap for Lewandowski. No money to be exchanged at all.

But we all know that won't happen.

Isn't Dortmund crossing the line into tapping up at this point?  KDB is on a long contract with us, I believe Mourinho has publically stated that he intends to make him part of his plans next season (ruling him out for sale) and Dortmund start releasing press statements saying he wants to join them.  Exactly where is the line?

It's even more absurd in the context of their stance on Lewandowski going to Bayern.  They've been harping on about the fact that he's under contract to them and won't be leaving this summer.

There is no line. And if you cross the imaginary "line" you get away with it.

I hope we get to see what the lad can do but I also see him being concerned. Haz is numero uno, Schurrle just in and if he looks at any spot in our midfield those spots are well and truly taken. DM he isn't if I'm not mistaken.

In Dortmund he sees a great young squad with a Goetze-size hole in their AM.

Hope Jose gets a good look at him and then gets to make a weighted decision.

De Bruyne, 21, cost Chelsea £7million in January 2012, but has barely played for the Blues after remaining on-loan at Genk in the second half of the 2011/12 and spending last year at Werder Bremen.

It was thought that Jose Mourinho had plans to include the Belgian international in his squad at Stamford Bridge next season, but De Bruyne could look to push through a move to Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said: "We are interested in him. I can confirm the player is wanting to make a transfer to our club."

The 21-year-old is thought to be wanted at Chelsea by manager Jose Mourinho though

I can confirm the player is wanting to make a transfer to our club.

Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc

De Bruyne recently admitted playing regularly will be a big factor in his decision, saying: "The most important thing for me is to be playing games.

"I know that I will be stressed when I play a few games on the bench.

"Next season I need to play a lot of games. With the point of the World Cup, it's very important."

Bayer Leverkusen were hopeful of landing the winger as part of Chelsea's £20m move for Germany forward Andre Schurrle, but that was rejected by the West London outfit.

I'm really beginning to hate Dortmund now, They've been linked with Lukaku in the German news outlet Bild.

I guess in just a few days there will be a message from Zorc* saying the player wants to move to Dortmund

Exactly this. I grew to like Dortmund the last couple of seasons but they are acting like pricks here.

Honestly, it speaks volumes that Jose has already decided KdB will be in the squad next year, and that says more than anything about his future at this club. If Kevin really WANTS to go to Germany next year, and we cant dissuade him, we should sell him with a sweet buyback clause and ample understanding that he has a huge future at this club.

It's Chelsea's own fault for buying all these players when they already have young talent on loan. The club must know that these players are playing regularly on loan and if they don't get playing time at Chelsea, they will want to leave for first team football.

Well actually buying DeBruyne was a very smart thing to do even if we sell him right away. We get profit. His pricetag should have doubled after the year in Bremen.

If he doesn't fit the team and He wants to go then we should sell him. Simple as that.

You are hating Dortmund because they want DeBruyne? I don't get the logics of that... What have they actually done? Said in a paper they like KDB?

"I can confirm the player is wanting to make a transfer to our club."

If that quote is true, its objectionable no matter what club it comes from.

They're trying to put doubts in the players mind, rather than accepting that the club dont want to sell him. It might be common practice, but its still lousy.

No need, they can barely keep their flock together and they need to worry about that. Expect them to be ripped off like Arsenal in the next few seasons.
