I wonder if we will see those who feel the need to immediately slag him the minute he has a bad game give him the credit he is due after today.

Of course we won't, good games don't fit their agenda!

Great game by Nando, that goal was pure instinct.

Ran his ass off, some great touches, winning balls in the air and creating space, think thats his 7th of the season so far so a good start, sometimes he trips over the ball but overall i think hes been very good for us.

5 goals.

Can I say this without getting blasted gues we'll see.

He played well today in terms or work rate and superbly taken goal but he was very wasteful other than his goal

I've not seen the game I'll watch it when I get in, but if thats the case fair comment.

What I would say though is that when he plays well people (not saying you) will slate him unless he scores!

Can their not be a middle ground, where if he plays well and contributes whether thats a goal or whatever he gets the recognition he deserves same as if he plays average or even badly.

The thing that annoys me with some posters is that 1 week he's sh*t the next a god, lets take the same balanced view on his game as we do on lots of other players!

Yeah Im not really one to slate the main thing for me with Torres has always been his workrate its fiine if a player doesnt score aslong as he works hard and not even Torres' biggest critic can say he has not worked hard.

An improved performance compared to recent weeks and took his goal well. Worked hard and got in several good tackles to nick the ball back from their defenders.

On the negative side though, he still is rather wasteful sometimes. That's twice in 2 PL games he's had a great chance pretty much one-on-one with the keeper and missed his kick completely. Okay he might have got a tiny touch from the defender as he swung his foot back, but not enough to justify missing the ball entirely. Chances like that can be the difference between wins and losses, and if Arsenal had been a bit more clincal they could have made us pay for that miss.

Overall his performance had more positives than negatives today, but still work to be done. Consistency is the key, it's no good having 1 good game every now and then, he needs to do it every week.

The slight touch certainly explains the miss hit. If you don't understand that, then you're suggesting that Torres can defy the laws of physics. He can't.

For what it's worth, Phil Thompson seemed to think it was a blatant penalty. And he hasn't been the nicest to Chelsea and our striker in the past, huh.

But that could be said of a lot of our players not just today but this season. It was a great performance today and to win at The Emirates, we can't ask for more. But Mata, Hazard, Oscar and Ramires were all the same today. Plenty of good stuff but all lost the ball and wasted opportunities today. IMO, Torres was actually less wasteful than others today.

Its pretty obvious the touch made a difference, its disingineous to say it wasnt. But a penalty would have been harsh as i dont think it was a foul.

It was never a penalty in a hundred years.

Well, then it's mostly down to definitions. I thought Torres was clearly hindered in the finishing moment, but I see that the decision was tough for the referee. He not only had to give the penalty, he would also have had to send Kosc off, and there isn't many refs that are that ballsy, especially only 20-25 minutes into a London Derby match.

The thing about being wasteful is an argument I can see, but not really understand, given that the likes of Van Rapist and Aguero are highly regarded as a "get out of jail"-card. When Rapist scored that hat trick against Soton he had also missed a sitter and a penalty before that. Aguero had a good opportunity when he headed the ball outside the post from three yards out. Even Drogba had his flaws in front of goal.

The argument therefor must be that Torres doesn't do enough do get into scoring positions, but I saw at least two clear opportunities where our wide players could have squared the ball to him, the last one with Bertrand the most obvious. Given the amount of work he did on our half today, it wasn't that strange.

What I liked about Torres' performance today was that he really gave his all and was a brilliant link up player. With the likes of Oscar, Mata and Hazard on our team, it's just as important to be able to link the play as it is to score (even though both is needed for a club like Chelsea).

It was never a penalty in a hundred years.

That's your opinion. However, saying that Kosc' touch didn't hinder Torres is wrong.

And that's not an opinion, that's pure fact.

Of course it's not fact. You weren't there being the person bringing your foot back to shoot, neither was I, it's all opinion based on observation and past experiences.

From what I saw I couldn't even see a touch at all, I am giving him a massive benefit of the doubt to say that perhaps there was a tiny touch. If you saw something else, fine.

Not a pen. Never in a million years.

Thought Torres did well today. Nothing spectacular, nothing that made you think he is a top player, but he contributed to the win.

He led the line well, he showed desire, he got a poacher's goal, he worked hard for the team.

Won a lot of headers. I was pleasantly surprised.

Today will do his confidence a lot of good.

Ok, yes, pluses and minuses from him today but overall I thought he was pretty good. The improvisation and quick-thinking for the goal was superb. And he was being pulled all over the place by the centre-back in the process.

Some of these muppets are off their head. There wasn't a touch? Watch a f**king TV. Blatant contact. He still should bury the chance regardless but all you idiots saying their is no touch get a life or go to f**king specsavers. Mugs

Slightly harsh?

Nothing that made you think he was a top player? Err how about the goal he scored!

His goal was classy, lovely bit of skill, sh*t defending mind.

Getting better ( can't get worse with good players aroun him start gelling), still think he should have scored more today. The first touch let him down more than his shooting these days, sometime his touch was superb, then when the goal opportunities come up, his touch let him down badly. It's been a struggle, but we have seen light at the end of the tunne.
