4 goals in 9 games in a team that is top of the league. Not a bad start and not a great start. He will score plenty this year trust me.

I feel he could of done better in the Wigan and QPR games but against Juventus with three centre backs and Stoke who played with nine at the back, i'd say he's done pretty decent. I still think he can improve drastically though and we're going to need him to as well.

Wow Wow Wow, far too much positivity on this page of the thread, Wheres Davey? Get him in here  In all seriousness, we looked good from the goals, but I suppose we would, seemed to play well although I thought he should of scored from Matas pass, but even the best miss chances! I missed one at 7 a sides tonight for example

"He'll come good, he'll score goals, he needs better service, blah blah blah..."

I'm tired of him tbh. Plus the fact that despite all the support he's gotten while scoring sod all, he seems to have this whiny attitude. I couldn't have anymore of it after he stormed down the tunnel VS QPR. He's still a Chelsea player so I'll keep supporting him obviously but no special support or treatment. He deserves heavy criticism when he goes wrong(which is almost every time).

Over the last 2 seasons we've criticized Mikel, Sturridge, Luiz and even Lamps & Drog but we always give him this special treatment. Quite frankly, he's hurting the team by not scoring whether you choose to realise it or not. I would say buy someone like Falcao but that would only limit the chances of Sturridge and Lukaku. A middle class(yet reliable) striker like Remy or Schurrle would do a lot better than Torres at this point.

Our saving grace has been the fact that almost everyone else on the team can put the ball in the back of the net. If we want to win the league, however, we need a good striker. Robbie should start by dropping Torres and playing Sturridge once he becomes fit again.

Nando will get us the goals, he'll bag 2 v Arsenal this weekend.

Still think he will get us 20+ goals in all comps.

So do I, but only over the course of his 5 year contract.

Hopefully Lukaku continues to score goals and then gets recalled in January!

To be honest i have not really been impressed by Lukaku at West Brom so far, his touch looks very heavy and he isn't very mobile either. He is still young though and i can see him going back out on loan again next season.

My biggest issue with him isn't his dribbling or speed or strength, all of which I think are fine, but his willingness to attack balls and make runs into the box just isn't there and he's far too content to hand around the edge of the box hoping for scraps.

This. I just don't get how people can't see this, and still go on about his 'hard work'.

I think we all see it, or at least I hope hope so, but i've long since given up pointing it out. So many times you see him just jogging into the box, not giving everything to get on the end of a ball which he could easily have if he'd tried. As I mentioned many times last year and the year before that, it's because he is still frightened to miss. He knows if he just doesn't quite get to a ball, it can at least look like he tried but was unfortunate, whereas if he does get there and misses he has no-one else to blame and his confidence will suffer ever more.

Frankly we cannot afford to have a striker who is afraid to miss. Sturridge, for all his faults, gets into these positions and if he fails one he tries again and again until he gets it right. He is the man who should be leading our attack imo.

I agree and disagree I HAVE been impressed with him, at his age he looks great but I wouldn't have him back just yet as he's got improving to do, but in a few years he will be a top player.

Interesting fact

Over the past 33 league matches between these sides, Chelsea have only won when they have fielded the summer departure Didier Drogba

Reckon a draw if lucky.......just hope its tight whatever happens, on at 4.45am here so gonna dvr it and enjoy after a good nights kip

COME ON CHELSEA

Steven Gerrard on Torres leaving in his new book:

It seems strange to admit it now, but I had doubts about whether Fernando Torres would be a success at Liverpool.

Two things came into my head when he signed in the summer of 2007 for £20.5m from Atletico Madrid. I thought he could bomb because he would not be able to cope with the intensity and physicality of the Premier League having come from Spain and it would be another expensive mistake in the transfer market for the club. But I desperately hoped he would be the signing to take us to the next level. And what a signing he proved to be.

During his hot streak for Liverpool over the next few seasons, Torres was easily the best player I have ever played with in my career. I loved him.

I used to walk onto the pitch every single game convinced I was going to set up a goal for him or score myself. Sometimes I didn’t. Mostly it seemed I did. I knew it was going to happen because Fernando was with me out there. At times, I felt invincible with him in the team alongside me.

In the first training sessions after he arrived, I recognised that his movement was very similar to that of Michael Owen. I thought to myself that I used to love playing with Michael and quickly came round to thinking my initial doubts had been stupid.

Torres was like Michael, but with more power. Sometimes if you played a difficult ball to Michael, the defenders were too big for him and they would win it back. Torres would make bad balls look good. That is how strong and powerful he was. He was a nightmare for defenders, but an absolute dream for me.

When Fernando approached me and said he wanted out, it was like a knife to the heart.

............ and it made me realize if I'd done the same and not sh*t myself when they threatened me, I'd have a whole cupboard full of winners medals with Chelsea by now.

I just don't get this arguement that he has been given special treatment. He gets criticized ridiculous amounts by the media and our fans on here. Just like all those other players you mentioned he has people that stick up for him. If by special treatment you mean the fans always cheering for him then that is what the fans are there for! To back the players not to ridicule them when they are playing badly. If anything the only special treatment he has recieved is a hell of a lot of flack from the media and some of our so called "fans" when he hasn't deserved it. The goals havn't came for him in his chelsea career so far but in my opinion even when he aint scoring he offers us something.

Everybody can have their opinion but I'm disappointed that people haven't even given him a proper chance this season. Things are different, we have better players and he is now our main man so you would have thought more people would have a "he hasn't done well so far but we will give him a chance to prove his worth as the main striker" but no, some have already made their minds up and probably hoping that Torres badly so they can say "I told you so." Give him a chance to prove that he is good enough to be our main man, if we get to Christmas and his scoring record and performances are terrible then I don't blame you, but we're 5 games into the premier league season, 9 over all and Torres has scored 4 goals, the way some of you speak about him you'd think that he hadn't scored any.

To sum up, stop being a bunch of c**ts and get behind your players.

probably hoping that Torres badly so they can say "I told you so."

It saddens me that there are some Chelsea fans who really do feel this way, though thankfully its only a couple on here.

this is like a repeat post every 3 months. youre acting like people who dont believe in torres are some kind of igorant and unreasomable idiots. lets see

- first 6 months, cant expect anything from him

- drogba is causing problems, not lettinghim perform

- every other player on the team is to blame

- new season, lets start fresh, he'll hit the ground running

- sh*t, its christmas and nothign has changed. nevermind, drogba the nusiance is off the africa for a month, he'll shine now

- 10 games undisputed striker on the trot, sh*t, err.. its still the players around him who are at fault

what others am i missing ?

I'm sorry but I love Torres and I even I can admit he's not working here, he's clearly not the player he was years ago. He's definitely lost a yard, I think we were foolish to have him and Studge as our only CF options, don't get me wrong I will support him, I want him to do well but those saying he hasn't been given a chance he's been here for nearly 2 years now how long should it take?

I really think we'll make a move for Llorente in Jan.

The point being made you plank, is that you support your player!!

Torres has scored a goal every other game (pretty much) this season, yet people are on his case for a bad performance against QPR and an average performance against Juve!

Get real most fans would love a player that has that scoring record in a season!

Timetowaste, is judging Torres on this season, not last or the one before, and if you hadn't just pitched up here and started spouting sh*t, you would know that Timetowaste has been critical of Torres in the past, but is giving him a fresh slate for this season!
