So who didn't love the shirt enough?

Featured Replies

I'd be shocked if those are real quotes.

The spirit of JT and Drogba were missed but I think this is unfair criticism.

Cech, Ivan, Cole, Lampard, Rambo, Mata .. their attitude can't be questioned.

Luiz really wanted it.

Who's left?

Cahill? I don't think we can question his attitude.

I don't think we can question the attitude of Hazard and Moses, these are young guys doing their best, this is all new to them. I thought Hazard was our best player in the first-half and Moses had our best effort.

You can question Torres but it's the same Torres we've seen before. He just doesn't have it anymore. He needs to be replaced, obviously.

Don't really think Piazon is in position to be making statements like that. If indeed he did come out with any if that.

Either way I feel for a lot of our players right now. They are confused and have had the belief, energy and heart ripped from them. They also are now playing for a man who is clearly a fraud and they clearly do not respect him or his methods.

No excuse for not trying of course but I don't think that is the case. They are currently playing as a bewildered group of individuals whilst chaos rules around them. A chaos that is simply not of their doing.

I would be annoyed if I was piazon, brought to the club with a lot of potential not a lot of competition for his place And then all of a sudden we spend a fortune acquiring players and he isn't even given minutes against monterry! Whether he actually said that is a different matter

Piazon is disputing that quote on twitter now-

"All i said was that corinthians had more courage to play the final than us , that they wanted more this tittle and...

That they played with more passion than us! I would never say something about my team mates , im just 18 and with them i learn a lot of...

Good things. And i also said that this tittle is so important for the south american clubs and that was a dream for me thats why i was so sad...

Thank you!"

That's slightly different to what was reported at 'byfarthegreatestteam.com', I wonder who to believe?

He probably feels he can offer what Torres is currently and a hell of a lot more.

Who the f**k does Piazon think he is to come out with accusations like that on a day like this?  or any other day for that matter!

The sooner all footballers have a clause in their contracts forbidding them from discussing club business on social networks, the better!

In any other far less well-paid job you'd be hauled over the coals for making public criticism of your colleagues.

yeah, but he's got a point

yeah, but he's got a point

If you thought he had a point, why didn't you say so in your first post when you posted the link?

Whether he has a point or not is irrelevant, it is disloyal in the extreme to post public criticisms of your team-mates, especially on a day when they have suffered such a defeat.

To be fair to him, what he said has been exaggerated and he's tried to explain himself on twitter.

Nobody can argue with the fact that Corinthians wanted it more (apart from Luiz...)

He shouldn't have come out and said that but he's 18 and has just been a bit naive. Some of the criticism he is getting is ridiculous.

If I was a South American sat on the bench watching team mates (Torres in particular) stroll around in 3rd gear, I'd be furious. You've only got to look at Luiz's reaction at full time to see how much it means to them.

In his interviews on CTV he's always come across as polite and well grounded. We all say sh*t we regret when we are angry/sad etc etc....

I don't think what Piason claims to have said is all that unusual to be honest (how many times have we heard similar words said in post-match interviews after big matches?).

I'm sure the club will not be afraid to fine him appropriately if they think he has overstepped the line.

IF and it's a big if he did make those comments then fair play to him for having the balls to say what most people were thinking.

Damn you uno, i hate to agree with you, but i am gonna have to again!  I think some of our current players need a kick up the backside. Frankly i think a lot of our players are coasting throigh games, picking up a healthy pay checks and not giving their all as they should. Whilst it is not ideal to air dirty laundry in public, especially if it as discoloured and out of shape as my wifes (she wore the good stuff pre wedding....what happened to that?), fair play to the kid for saying it.

Not that i believe he did say it....but if he did, then good on him. And if the players dont like it, well, tough titties.

They may need a kick up the backside but they need it from the coach, not from an 18 year old kid.

I highly doubt Piazon actually said all that. The media are just stirring things up (as usual) by putting words in his mouth.

He is defending himself on Twitter now, basically saying that it is a competition that means more to South Americans and that's why he felt Crinthians wanted it more.

Probably something said in the heat of the moment, but to be fair good on the lad for making a statement at least.  Maybe not the best way to do it, and he certainly does need to watch when and to whom he says it, but at least he is passionate.

From Cech's Facebook Page,

There are 2 different groups of people in the world :

1) the ones who stand up and keep believing in their abilities when knocked down ...
2) the ones who stay on the floor and give up ...

We call them simply Winners and Losers :-)

And every individual can choose the group to belong to ...

For me , there is only one option , so i'll see you again in the finals ;-)

Football is the greatest thing in the world ... if you win ... and the most disappointing , when you lose , but that's why everybody loves football..

Come on Moi. Who'd you rather have as first team coach; Piazon or Benitez?

The players will probably listen more to young Lucas than they will their current coach!

I like to think that he has been a liitle foolish and a little misquoted. A stern talking to and a chance to play centre forward is the correct response to this.

Give the boy a start against Leeds, period. The guy has something to prove, while a few players in the team are just getting too comfortable.

I question players' fitness level. We looked slow and pedantic in most matches after 50-60 minutes. Considering we usually make the opposition chase around, they really should be tiring before us. e.g. last night, and against West Ham. I remember back in Jose even Carlo's days, we could tire teams out and win the game after 70-80 minutes, now it doesn't happen anymore. How many believed we could win after 70 minutes last night?
