September 21, 201312 yr DOn't think he was unconscious, Ace. Just took a knock to the head, but showed great bravery
September 21, 201312 yr Reckon he will score more than all our forwards combined with Baines delivery.
September 21, 201312 yr I watched Everton today and he was magnificent for them. Everton looked pretty terrible in the first half, the moment Lukaku came on the game turned around completely. He bullied the spanners' back line, dropped deep to hold up the ball and play in their fast wingers, and demonstrated great linkup play. He could easily have had a hattrick but for some near misses and a poor delivery. His goal was brilliantly taken and he took some smack to the head in the process. He's going to have a great season with them. I dare say he might even be in contention for the golden boot if he is consistently given starts.
September 21, 201312 yr He could easily have had a hattrick but for some near misses and a poor delivery. You'd get slaughtered for a performance like that on here.
September 21, 201312 yr Comes on as a sub, first game for Everton, and he turned the game around, he held the ball up better than Drogba ever did, looked strong, quick and agile, his passing short and long was superb. If he carry's on like that he must play himself into the first team above the 3 strikers we have at the moment. But then again we were saying the same thing last season. I still can't get over us signing Eto and loaning out Lukaku, and the rest of the premiership - including Mr Lineker, are not going to let us forget it.
September 21, 201312 yr Haha our best striker is not in our team. He changed the game for Everton today, completed outclassed the hammers defenders. If hes not ready to lead the line for us the 3 we have should be in the reserves
September 21, 201312 yr Comes on as a sub, first game for Everton, and he turned the game around, he held the ball up better than Drogba ever did, looked strong, quick and agile, his passing short and long was superb. Whoa now.
September 21, 201312 yr Haha our best striker is not in our team. He changed the game for Everton today, completed outclassed the hammers defenders. If hes not ready to lead the line for us the 3 we have should be in the reserves He's the only striker who took a penalty against Bayern and he's the only one who missed. The irony was not lost on Mourinho and Abramovich. It was a piss-poor penalty.

September 21, 201312 yr Is it true were getting a £5m fee for his loan to Everton. If so then that's a hell of a deal for us.
September 21, 201312 yr I have a feeling we might be recalling him back in January. I hope we don't need to but it may be a necessity. We won 2-0 today and that's great but our strikers aren't scoring.
September 21, 201312 yr Is it true were getting a £5m fee for his loan to Everton. If so then that's a hell of a deal for us. Not really if we're paying a more heavy price of not having a striker that can cause a threat...as lineker said after lukaku's display when Everton game was shown on match of the day tonight: "chelsea fans must be watching this thinking, why?" Too right gary, too right Edited September 21, 201312 yr by The Brit
September 21, 201312 yr I think we all know with perfect hindsight that Lukaku's loan was a bad thing for the club right now although that will not stop a certain section of the support from voicing their loud "I told you so". Eto'o can and will do better than what he is currently producing. The main benefit is that Lukaku gets constant game time, with a good, technical manager, and most importantly builds up his confidence (which was undoubtedly shattered by his penalty miss) away from prying media eyes. That said he shouldn't have been on the pitch after his head collision. Football has to learn to take concussion more seriously and it should not be up to the call of the player or manager.
September 21, 201312 yr What hindsight? Most of us thought it was a mistake at the time and he's done more in 45 minutes for Everton in the league than any of the other three put together....I hope eto'o comes good as he's clearly Jose's main man, but he looks like he needs a lot of games to get into form
September 21, 201312 yr Held the ball up better than Drogba ever did?!?!?! Are you INSANE? Hahahahaha Haggus glad we agree on something, what's is this from someone whose been watching us from paper headlines lol.
September 22, 201312 yr Held the ball up better than Drogba ever did?!?!?! Are you INSANE? Hahahahaha You not been here long have you ? I play this game where i try to predict what some people are going to write before they write it, if you catch my drift ? Devil's advocate some might say.
September 22, 201312 yr Just wanna say JoeyN said: February 26th 2013 -"I will eat my sock if Lukaku gets a regular spot in the side next season." No sock eating for me. To be honest though I would rather eat the sock and have Lukaku here. Edited September 22, 201312 yr by JoeyN
September 22, 201312 yr The problem with saying look how well lukaku did for Everton at the weekend is that there is no way West Ham would park the bus against Everton. Fulham completely suffocated the space for everyone bar our back 4, but Id like to think he'd do a better job than Eto'o who i only remember seeing on the pitch twice at the weekend. Lukaku looks like the genuine article, some of his passing and link up play was top drawer. Add that to his close control in the build up to his own goal and the placement of the header for his goal under so much pressure and we truly have a special player here. Im gutted we have kept Ba in the club and released him on loan. The last 3 windows i really feel the board have let the club down in regards the strike force. Panic decisions with Ba and Sturridge down to poor planning, yes the Torres debacle is unfortunate, im sure most wanted him here at the club. But dealing with the aftermath has been horrendous. letting Drogba, sturrige and Lukaku leave and signing Ba (who isnt bad but he's never going to be a top draw line leader) and Eto'o on a short term deal is nothing short of criminal. Lets not forget our current strike force has scored 4 PL goals this year (2013) and those we have allowed to leave have scored 20. (14 for Sturridge). Edited September 22, 201312 yr by Shotgun883
September 22, 201312 yr We were stuck with Torres and Ba whatever we did. Nobody wanted Torres and only Arsenal and Spurs were interested in Ba. That's a problem Jose inherited. I'm sure if given the choice he'd not have them on the roster at all. He brought in Eto'o because he knows him, and he knows what to expect. He needed some security in that department and I still think it was a decent decision. Even so it wasn't his first choice. Lukaku's loan was better for him than for us. But we did act in his best interests. This way he's going to end up Everton's first choice (their other options are dire) and get a lot of game time in a good team. Here we'd be juggling 4 forwards with huge expectations from the owner, fans and media for success - a young striker isn't going to get the opportunities he deserves in that situation. If he does well with Everton, and I know he will, Jose will have had a year to find a way out of the striker disaster we've gotten ourselves into and Lukaku will have first dibs (with somebody new probably filling the other slot). I have a feeling he'd like to go with 2 pure senior strikers and am desperately hoping he's got his eye on Lewandowski as the other. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't want Ba or Torres at all, but we can't get rid of them on our terms.
September 23, 201312 yr If Martinez plays that donkey Jelavic ahead of him in the next game someone give Martinez a slap for me,thanks.
September 23, 201312 yr Apparently there's no January release clause in the terms of his loan. Good luck to the lad for the season he's top top class. Edited September 23, 201312 yr by Real_No.9
September 23, 201312 yr The problem with saying look how well lukaku did for Everton at the weekend is that there is no way West Ham would park the bus against Everton. Fulham completely suffocated the space for everyone bar our back 4. He wasnt exactly given acres of space when he netted his first goal was he? When Lukaku ends up with more PL goals then all our other strikers combined I hope management get the message.

September 23, 201312 yr The problem with saying look how well lukaku did for Everton at the weekend is that there is no way West Ham would park the bus against Everton They did exactly that. They were on the backfoot most of the match, and once they were down to 10 men they just packed the penalty area
September 23, 201312 yr Again people who can't understand why he went to Everton instead of Ba going out. We tried to loan out Ba, failed. Ba and Lukaku were naturally down the pecking order to new guy Eto'o and Torres. The other point is Lukaku would never have got the anount of games he needs behind Torres and Eto'o. How hard it is to understand that? You can see how much we need experience in the league playing Lampard all the time. That is what Jose think ms anyway. Lukaku himself would have ranked him behind those two if asked. He was good in the pre-season and I expected him to stay but if you look at it objectively you can see why he is at Everton.
