Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Featured Replies

Lampard didn't have Hazard's dribbling speed and quickness of feet. He beats Hazard on pretty much everything else but then again Lamps was someone that always wanted to score goals. Hazard just wants to assist a few years back.

There are also times I felt that Hazard waited for the oppo defences to come back just so he could beat them whereas Lamps would go for the quicker route to goal.

A: "Spoon. It's all about the spoon, mate. I'm tellin' ya!."

B:    "Geddaaara here! Can't attack that piece of meat with a spoon can ya?"

A:    "Yeah, well. You tried havin' soup with a fork?"

B: "Fork all the way, mate! You ain't got a clue!"

A: "What a mug! You seriously reckon a spoon isn't better than a fork..."

(Etc, etc...)

Ps. I can't believe people are seriously saying Joe Cole was comparable to Hazard.

I loved Cole. Was one of my favourites. But he was inconsistent, injured, off the pace fitness wise at least half the time he was here. At his best he was very good. At Hazard's best he is sensational.

Joe Cole lost whatever pace and abilities to beat his man pretty early on in his career, imo. He lost that agility and quickness as his body changed into a chunkier, slower one. He was tough and tenacious and still had moments of brilliance, but it was just not often enough.

Technically he might have been fantastic behind the scenes on the training ground, but on the pitch he wasn't as great as he probably could have been.

He was still very successful here, and nothing but fond memories of him, but Hazard is at least a whole level better - and that's from someone who reckons Hazard is a little bit overrated by people sometimes.

I think that Hazard will get in the history above Lampard when he will starts to be more decisive, mostly in the big game in UCL.

Hazard has this first touch, this dribbling that none other players have, but in the football that don't do everything. It's also why Messi and Ronaldo have above up, because they score lot.

Why are Lamps and Hazard being compared pmsl. Cech was better at catching balls than Drogba, whilst we're at it lads.

That's the trouble when threads go off at a tangent. Think it started when a few of us claimed Hazard is probably our best ever footballer and then Lamps name gets thrown into the ring and it goes from there. We all know they are totally different players. Lamps is a club legend, top goal scorer, won just about everything there is to win in the game, but I think even he would be the first to admit that he doesn't have the natural ability that Hazard has. It has been well documented and is even more of a credit to Lamps how he trained more than any other player to help him achieve what he did in the game.

Hazard has a lot of work to do if he wants to be regarded higher than Lampard. It's obvious both have very different skill sets but the standout thing for me is the effort they put in. Hazard obviously has more natural talent but I doubt he puts the same amount of effort in his career as Lamps did.

Edit: Nibs just beat to it saying almost exactly what I wanted to say

So much for getting this thread away from Hazard v Lamps.........................!!!

Wouldn't blame him if he wanted out tbh. Only so much he can do and when you see the club are bringing in second rate players it's not going to help the cause.

We are scampering about trying to get Dzeko...a 32 year old who was deemed surplus to city about 2 years back. Tells it's own story.

Can't help but think him and Courtois would have signed their contract extensions by now if they really wanted to stay. The longer they put it off, the more it looks like they're waiting for other offers.

Can you blame them?

When you see him talk after good wins, how happy he is to play in fast attacking performances, there's no way he'll stick around if this awdul defensive garbage carries on, creating basically no chances against any half decent side.

I think he will stay, realises being a big fish in a little pond is preferable to being a small fish in a bigger pond.

I also think he prefers the quieter life in England compared to Spain and likes the idea of playing with his younger brother.

Of course if our style changes drastically or managerial changes disappoint him that could sway him in another direction.

Why, Citeh or PSG have more disposable income than anyone, and if Zidane get the spanish fiddler, will Eden still want to go to that ghastly club?

I know things are s bit negative at the moment but there's no chance we would sell our best player to a domestic rival, and there's no way hazard would push for a move to a domestic rival. Hazard has always maintained he wouldn't go to psg out of respect for Lille. He's been at chelsea nearly as long as he was at Lille, so you would think he has a string affinity to us by now.

Zidane is a big reason for hazard perhaps wanting real, but it's not the only reason, he said he dreamt of playing for real before Zidane was in charge, so he may still want to go there.

Money is not the be all and end all, especially to someone like hazard, and it's not as if he will be shopping at Lidl on 300k a week here.

Whether madrid will still be interested without Zidane at the helm is debatable, he doesn't score a boat load of goals, he isn't that marketable, and he is a little older than the usual galatico signing. They also have isco and asensio who are both similar players.

My feeling is he will sign a new deal here if Zidane gets sacked.

If Zidane stays, then I think it could go either way, and we might have to show some more ambition in the transfer market to convince him to stay.

Personally I'd make him see out his contract. He is irreplaceable.

My feeling is also he will re-sign, but maybe a club ask, because it will shoot up his marketable value, after 6 years here i think he will want to test himself, so this Summer is the bench test for him staying with us again, and to be perfectly honest i wouldn't begrudge him, plus we get a stack to reinvest, i'd love Haz to stay, he has been in the top 3 of the best ever fantasy players to grace the PL, Along with Henry and Bergkamp....

If I was in Eden's shoes, regardless of me being a Chelsea fan, I would choose to move at Real Madrid. He would be stupid not to push for a move. He has stayed with us long enough and everyone knows we are not of RM's club stature, where if you do great, you will for sure be in the pantheon of Worlds Best after retirement.

Nothing wrong with not being one of the top 3 biggest clubs in the world. We sure are not heading that way any longer either. We are losing what we were, let alone pushing on to becoming one of the top clubs in the world.

I have resigned to believing that he will both be joining Madrid next year and I wish him the best of luck. He deserves it.

I do not believe we will be losing Courtois though. I don't think he is good enough to become Real Madrid's mainstay goalkeeper. That will probably be David De Gea of Manchester United.
