October 22, 201510 yr I really hope there's nothing to these media reports that Eden wants to leave to Real Madrid but if he wants to go I would tell Madrid for starters minimum $250 million plus Varane and Modric or if they don't like it they can lose our number.
October 22, 201510 yr I can't believe we've found a forummer that makes zeta look massively optimistic.Perfect comparison. Memorable quote certainty. Sorry Zeta.
October 22, 201510 yr Selling Hazard for any price would be absolute madness considering he is the only world class player in the squad. But with the embarrassing transfer window last summer still fresh in my mind, nothing would surprise me anymore. Then they won't get a replacement and end up bringing back the egyptian-not-quite-messi Salah to market him as the next Hazard.

October 23, 201510 yr Firstly, to the post above Salahs deal was made permanant a week or two ago. Anyway, if Hazard wants to leave (and who knows) then we got some good years out of him. I just read Fergies book and he knew that eventually he would lose Ronaldo to Madrid and that he just had to try get the most money possible out of them, and the most out of the player in the time they had him. If this is Edens time to leave, then we take Real Madrid for every penny we can scrounge. Then invest in another superstar, many here mention Bale but I like James waaaay more.

No so called 'superstar' will be coming our way. Certainly not from Madrid, who, as you might suspect, are not keen to sell good players to Mourinho. Apart from Hazard Chelsea have no world class players. Unless denial is your friend.
October 23, 201510 yr Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if Hazard wanted to leave after all. Maybe he'd rather play for the CL win with Kroos, Bale, James and Benzema instead of being benched, watching Ramires shoot holes through the sky and Ivanovic trot around like a headless chicken.

October 23, 201510 yr Jesus.... Are you serious? Yes I am. Mind you there was this one time after a few to many bottles of wine at Cana I had everyone in stitches when I started doing my impression of my father.

October 23, 201510 yr Have you anything positive to say about Chelsea? Yeah, hopefully it's that he doesn't actually support them.
October 23, 201510 yr What top player would willingly go and play for Rafa Benitez? Especially one who has already had the unpleasant experience of doing so.

October 23, 201510 yr Have you anything positive to say about Chelsea? Now you might be surprised if I lay this nuance open to you, but I was picturing what I believe is Hazard's point of view. You'd be naive to believe he thinks about Chelsea the same way a fan would think. He sees world class players, a sunny town, higher wages and compares it to the bench of what is a mid-table team right now. The next step for him is to win the Champions League. He'd wonder where the chances are best, wouldn't he? I am not in the best states of mind considering the situation the club has recklessly brought itself into over the last 6 months. And I could very much argue that anyone here who is, is less of a fan than me - or simply too naive to see what's going on.

And I could very much argue that anyone here who is, is less of a fan than me - or simply too naive to see what's going on. Some points to consider: This isn't a mid table team that only has one world class player despite your assertions. I suspect Hazard knows this now just as he knew it when he penned his very first Chelsea contract when the club actually did finish the season midtable, 7th. This is a temporary slump with a team containing enough talent, manager especially, to turn it around Hazard just signed a 5 and a half year deal in February. Either that was done with a gentlemans agreement to sell soon anyways or he was happy then. If this discontent can be brought about that quickly, so too can it be turned around in equal speed, aka by summer (I'd take a January fee if our season is rubish, thatd be like 150-200million). Also means Chelsea can easily just hold out for a few seasons. Is Eden Hazard really a bench player now? 11 starts and 2 sub appearances is a bench warmer for a club that has only played 13 competitive matches. My goodness. Yes Real Madrid have more world class talent, especially in attack. That's maybe why it would be wise to consider that in his current form he might struggle to even make their bench. Lastly, while not advocating he be sold let's consider 4 points in the last two games he was on the bench. We'd be top 4 if the team was doing that well when he was in it. He needs to step up one aspect of his game or the other.
October 23, 201510 yr All depends what people determine as World Class. I think he is only player in our squad that would even have a remote chance of winning the Ballon D'or. And far too many players are branded World class these days so do kind of agree with Python. Also agree that you have to remember Hazard has no founding affiliation with Chelsea and Madrid to him is probably a nicer prospect, as it would be for many Courtious & Costa are the only two other players I believe that can possibly be called genuine WC.

I'd toss in Azpilicueta, you won't find much if any better as a defensive FB. Aside from his recent dip in form Matic would be here and I suspect he will firmly be considered so again in not too long.Last season I suspect a few more names would of found their way on the list. That aside, not many teams can boast multiple WC players. As for the Ballon D'or, only two players in the world have a chance of winning it. Them aside, a lot of positions never have a chance regardless or the talent. Edited October 23, 201510 yr by Barry Bridges
October 23, 201510 yr If we're having the world class debate, Ive gotta put Matic and Azpilicueta in there as well. Not many full backs better than Azpi defensively, and Matic last season was widely regarded as the best defensive mid in the premier league

October 23, 201510 yr When I mention the ballon d'or, I'm talking even consideration. Shortlist etc. Possibly Dave, especially defensively. Disagree with Matic. Need to have more than one good season at the top level.

Agreed on Courtois, he could start for Real, Bayern or Barca. I forgot about him. Costa and Matic are both a clear no. Good players on their day but too inconsistent. Costa had a superb start to last season, but that's it. I would expect a world class striker to keep this up, like Suarez, Neymar or Messi do. It's highly subjective of course. Ask a Spur and they will tell you Harry Kane is world class, but I tend to be more realistic. Hazard is the only player we have who has, year over year, performed on a level so high that he could play in any team in the world - and win them a trophy virtually on his own. A truly special player and you'd have to be an ignorant and stubborn man to alienate him so much that he'd want out - without pointing my finger at anyone in particular here. When we won that game in Munich Hazard was as much of a reward as the trophy itself. I genuinely hope he will stay until his 30s.
October 23, 201510 yr Just look at Hazard's career. He has won the highest individual trophies in every country he played at 24. If he was British he'd have been the player of the year in the Premier League four times by now. You'd have to be very naive to believe that we have a player who would belong into his bracket. I wish we had more players like this, but sadly we don't seem to be able to get them/don't want to pay what it takes.

Although not technically brilliant, Costa would be a great addition to every side in the world. He is the best at what he does, and he scores goals. If you are in the top 10 for your position in the world, you have the right to be called WC. And although he is special, Hazard has yet to display the mental aptitude to be deemed in the same bracket as Suarez Messi ROnaldo Neymar Lewandowski Aguero etc. Edited October 23, 201510 yr by jamie#8
