Benayoun Claims...

Featured Replies

I feel very sorry for him if this is true. I do not agree with things he has supposedly said in the press. But I would never hold that against him, as there is no evidence what he said is true and Yossi is such an insignificant figure at this club that I can't give a rats arse. But if somebody had abused YB in this way then they deserve every punishment coming to them as it really is unacceptable.

Hope the club make a public show of banning the pricks. Anything to make an example of them and dissuade like minded idiots doing the same in future.

On another note, I am glad that even the rats in the gutter press can tell the difference between why fans would boo Benayoun vs a pair of pricks abusing him along racial/ethnic/religious lines.

Disgusting, if true.

I hope that if any Chelsea fan hears another being anti-semitic, we would call them out and not accept it.

It's really bad that Benyoun says he has never experienced that anywhere else in England, in Spain or when playing for Israel. It reflects very very badly on Chelsea fans, which is unfair, because I'm positive the vast majority of us are against such vile hatred. Sadly it will be used to slur us all by Chelsea haters.

I wish Benyoun all the best for the future.

It is disgusting if true.

I'd prefer players to not use chelsea fans have abused me as a collective.

that goes for all clubs, he should be saying two scum c**ts abused me who pretend to be chelsea fans because no chelsea fans would abuse a player wherever they're from and especially one of their own. Their just thugs

its obviously unacceptable if he was abused in that way. i certainly booed him everytime he came on, didnt deserve to wear the shirt, but there is a line.

never heard any chants of that nature so must have been a very small minority

It's weird, some seem to really dislike Yossi but what has he actually every done that's bad? I don't think anyone rates him as a player good enough for Chelsea but the way some people speak about him on here it's as if they hate him.

Wouldn't be surprised if some of the guys here was among them. Some really disgusting comments about him in here during the season.

And it always is. I don't understand why some people can't just ignore the abuse and get on with their lives.

If somebody does a monkey gesture or throws a banana at Gareth Bale, it's deemed funny, though if the exact same thing happens to Balotelli, it's racism. Double standards.

If a player was called "a little Christian" this would be a non-story.

There are always going to be racist/prejudiced low life losers in the world. Just bloody get on with it already.

This may sound a bit stupid to people but I''l say it anyway. I've always wondered why players who receive racist abuse actually care so much about it. If they are proud of who they are and there is no reason why they shouldn't be then why care if a few mindless morons want to give you stick over it. I know for one if I was getting abuse for being white by a section of a crowd I wouldn't really give a toss and I'd just rub it in even more I scored or won the game.

Racist ones? Which ones were they?

If I remember rightly he "celebrated" on Twitter when Arsenal beat us last season whilst on loan to them.

Yes he was an Arsenal player for that season but we were still his parent club, no it doesn't warrant racist comments to be directed towards him but that sort of thing will rub some fans up the wrong way and he was bit clueless when he did that.

Add to that the whole Liverpool connection and him coming back and getting game time when he was useless and it just mounts up.

If racist comments have been made towards him those who did it should receive life time bans by the club but at the same time Yossi needs to realise that you can't be so vocal in the media and not expect fans to dislike some of what is said.

a couple of seasons ago at wigan, a chelsea 'fan' that was stood behind me shouted 'GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS' when Yossi came on. Said it around 5 times then he stopped when people gave started to look at him

Ignorant bigots can come from anywhere and serve as a reminder, that respect for your fellow people is not as prevailing as most of us wish it would be.

I'm not a religious man, but intolerance of people of different races or religions in not acceptable. Fans who make anti-Semitic remarks, whether from our club or another, have no right to be at the football.

I don't doubt it happened, because we have seen all too often, there are some real dicks out there. I feel bad for Yossi. I don't dislike him. He may not be great in footballing terms, but he doesn't deserve to booed, much less abused in that manner.

I don't really get it either. I never heard any anti-Semitic abuse directed at him at games I went to but I did hear a few jeers and boos, which weren't necessary. Some may point to the Liverpool connection but he's hardly a Liverpool legend. Judging by his comments after leaving them, Benayoun likes Benitez about as much as we do. He was a tidy player at his best and I think he could have been useful in different circumstances. He would have been handy last season when Mata was our only creative player. I don't blame him for not looking back on his time here with any fondness. He got injured soon after we bought him and was then shunted around on loan at various clubs for 18 months. We even gave his shirt number to someone else.

Agree with a lot of comments on here.... I am not condoning it in any shape or form, no individual should be exposed to any of this abuse in this day and age. But there are other types of abuse that are just as abhorent, nasty and hate filled.

Every match I have ever been too most players and officials gets some sort of abuse. How do you think the wife and kids of Beckham, JT, Rooney must feel ? and that is not a small minority of the crowd. What about poor old Wenger !

I feel sorry for Yossi if he has suffered from this but some balance in the media is needed that's all I am saying, I am tired of the media trying to pin the racist thing on our club.

This may seem weird, around the middle of the season, I saw Yossi retweeting racial tweets directed to him, and all of them from supposedly Chelsea fans with a username relating to Chelsea. Worse more, I saw a tweet from one Chelsea fan with huge followers call him a 'f**king Jew'. At another time, they were abusing him on twitter about the problem between Israel and Palestine, and I was shocked when he retweeted one saying he should die, calling him a sewer rat and nasty looking Jew. I turned to my brother and say, "don't be suprised if this is worse than it seems, and I'd never blame the guy if at the end of the season, once he's gone, he goes to the press and tell them about the racist remarks." - Voila, exactly what happened.

I don't believe it's the fans of other clubs that would be calling him names whenever he is warming up during a game.

It's really saddening he confirmed it on twitter after a match, though I can't recall which match that was.

I'd never hate a chelsea player no matter what, I know he celebrated Arsenal's win against us, what do you suppose he should have done, people should get a grip.

It's not suprising that this is happening, but most people in here would not count it as anything because it's Benayoun.

I feel for the guy, the insults and the racial slurs against him were depressing.

Sad the press wil use it as another weapon against Chelsea fans.

I suppose he should have just stayed quiet and not posted or said anything, I mean he was still employed by us. He seems to do things such as that, and then he wonders why he was never accepted by us fans. I think hes the one who should get a grip.

However, obviously the abuse goes over the top when its anti-semitic and should be treated by the club seriously.

Exactly i don't understand the hate for him,i knew his contract was up at the end of the season and was going so i wasn't bothered that he was with us.He was just there because we couldn't sell him so it made sense just to use him for cover because our squad was so thin.

Interesting how The Fails headline for the article is a supposed quote that isnt mentioned in the article itself " Little Jew " is not mentioned as an insult so why use it as a heading? Strange world we live in where the press once again bend the truth. And while i do not condone any type of abuse against anyone who cannot defend themselves, i wonder what the bottom line to this is. One of the first things i remember from my school years is that names will never hurt me saying. When you analyse it we have footballers crying over being called names. One England International going public against a fellow team mate and battling it out on twitter or in the press. Why not just make all sports silent along with no contact OR just ban all sports, All Verbal Contact, Newspapers oh and Christmas.

No wonder other countries laugh at us.

Oh and as an extra and before i get slated for what ive said, anyone old enough to remember the 80's will remember when the terraces were really racist but you never saw the likes of John Barnes, Fashanu or even our very own Paul Cannonville crying into their isotonic sports drink at half time. Lets not milk this for what it isnt. Ignore it and move on.
