Willian

As I said, Pepe has had a poor season and William will probably start for them. I don’t mind losing William but I don’t like selling to rival teams.

Perspective. In Pepe's first year, he was level with Willian's average over 7 years. The only difference between Pepe and Willian this year was 3 penalties and a free kick.

I hope Willian benches Pepe (and Martinelli and Saka). Pepe has a chance to get better.

who's taking no 10 now?

Wouldn't surprise me to see Pulisic take #10 and leave #22 for Ziyech, which is the shirt number he had at Ajax. I think Havertz (assuming the transfer gets done) will similarly want to keep his #29, so can see Tomori relinquishing that one.

I think Callum would fancy the 10 shirt. Number 11 from Pedro is also a nice number up for grabs for an attacker.

Werner was 11 at Leipzig. Unless he wants a change, he seems like a logical home for 11.

I can't see CHO getting 10

Pulisic would want it, but I dont think he'd ask for it yet. But I dont think he'd turn it down either.

Positionally, Havertz, if he signs, would make sense, but do you give the 10 to a 20 year old new signing?

I guess if you drop £80M you might

Really don't see that. Arsenal have Aubameyang, Lacazette, Martinelli and Pepe. I would take all of them over Willian. Sure, he does give them another option but we all know how inconsistent Willian can be and the lack of end product so I really don't have a problem with him going to the Gooners and share in their enjoyment of Thursday night football.

This is unfair.. No thankyou on Laca, Martinelli and Pep...Laca is only the French Callum Wilson, Mertinelli unproven and Pepe is a poor man's zaha at the moment.

People love assists stats. Chances created is a better stat than assist in my opinion.

So he’s going to sign a two year contract with arsenal yet he told us he wouldn’t sign anything but three years?

Willian to Arsenal transfer 'done' as Chelsea winger to sign two-year Gunners contract

Arsenal have reportedly agreed terms with Willian to sign the Brazilian from Chelsea on a two-year deal with an option for a third season.

If that really is the case, thats a snake move!

I hope it’s not but that was the latest article/rumor so hopefully it’s wrong but it sure sounds like an extra 30k changed his mind. Not going to look as kindly on his time here if he ends up signing for them on a two year. Who cares about the option we would’ve given him a third year had he fine well the next two.

IF he goes to arsenal then regardless of the circumstances of his contract I hope we don't sink to their fans' clown-esque level with our reaction to him. It would be utterly embarrassing to see our fans turn on and jeer him the way theirs do/did to Fabregas, Cole, Cech, Luiz, Giroud, Gallas, Anelka, Petit....... Mustafi, Xhaka, Henry, Ramsey, Van Persie, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, Toure, Adebayor, Song....... Bendtner, Vermaelen, Sczcesny, Fabianski, Eboue, Chamberlain, Walcott, Overmars, Vieira, to name just a few.

sure sounds like a snake move by Willian, he can earn up to 30k more in bonus goals, what a joke he whines we won’t give him 3 years yet now leaves for a two year contract.

Daily Express is some low tier rag that makes up stories tbh, every paper bullsh*ts and jumps the gun with guesswork but the Express really take the cake in my opinion.

Must be a totally different environment you grew up in because every sports fan I know would boo or heckle any player who left their team on bad terms and then proceeded to bad mouth the team over and over again in public. Part of being a fan is heckling those guys and trying to get them out if their game for that day too so it’s not only showing disgust or disappointment but can help your team win

Now Willian has done no such thing but that odd list has plenty of snakes on it. So if a former player leaves and bad mouths the club, you’re just going to sit silent when he comes to the bridge? What if he scores and taunts the shed? Would it be ok then?

Not a different enviroment at all, just that in the majority of cases where it happens it is pathetic as well as hilarious from an opposition fans point of view. Turning on and booing/slagging off ex (and current) players is something Arsenal fans are particularly well known for with many players and I'd rather we steer clear of it with players who have, for the most part, been good players for us. Also, like you said, he hasn't done any bad mouthing, scoring against us (not for 7 years anyway) nor taunting of the shed. So far all that has happened is that there are rumours of him leaving at the end of his contract and going to an inferior club for reasons unknown. Hardly hitting the heights of Poyet yet is he?

Not at all and I’m in agreement about the majority of what you said and thanks for the response. It’s too bad but I wish him well if he’s not just signing a two year deal with a possible extension. I mean I wouldn’t ever boo him for that but it would just make me think of him differently than I do now, not that even matters lol.

I believe Matt Law on this.

£32M or so to Willian across 4 years. He'd be stupid NOT to take it.

And he's not stupid.

Agreed he usually has the best info but I’ll still be interested to see if it’s just a two year contact. I know they have bonuses and such in his agreement but he could’ve gotten as many extensions after two years if he was still performing. Too bad we have to lose him to le arse though

Will see what he gets but to be honest I dont care if he gets 2,3 or 4 years there.

Best thing he has done for us is turn down our offer and leave. I dont believe for 1 second he was injured for the final. Lamps said in his press conference he was fit, then he suddenly is not. Blatant ploy by him to give his new employer a better chance.
