How was it real? I can't find any proof. They've been able to offer him a contract since January, why would they be waiting knowing that other teams can pounce any minute.

Well in theory they could have wanted Willian 2 years ago and now they don't want him anymore. Even now there are reports that Barcelona has offered him a contract so...

Won't be popular on here for saying this but for me it's still Grealish. Pulisic/Grealish on the left and Ziyech/CHO on the right and we're in a good position, imo. If Benrahma flops here and Pulisic is injured we could be in a tricky situation, is it worth the risk considering how Grealish played for Villa this season? Not only can Grealish play on the left flank but he can also cover for Mount and RLC when he's fit.

Not worth paying that much for Grealish when I think personally Benrahma looks a much better winger and just a better player all round. Grealish is better in midfield than as a winger.

Also Benrahma is said to only cost around 25-30m which we can afford even if he ends up flopping, but spending 60m+ on Grealish for him to flop would be terrible.

Lets see where he ends up next season. If he's at Barca i'll donate £10 to The Shed End, if he's not at Barca you donate £10?

Werner can play on the wing remember so I don’t think we need to sign anyone if Willian leaves. Ziyech, Pulisic, CHO & Werner are enough. Plus Mount can play there in a worst case scenario

He's gone if Arse have offered 3 or bloody 4 years, not only does he get to stay in London but he'll play with his best friend in Luiz again.

He might be a freak of nature like Ronaldo maintaining his level into 35/36 but the skeptic in me just thinks that, that 3rd year will be him being a very expensive training partner.

No deal, Barcelona might be interested still and he could choose Arsenal anyway.

I'm confident he can maintain his level of productivity well into his late 30s. It's not like he's set the bar high with his goal and assist record the last 7 years.

10 G/A per season in the league should be well attainable for him for several more years.

He'll have trouble matching this season of 9 goals if he's off penalty duty, but take away the penalties and he's right on his usual numbers of 5 goals / 7 assists. He should be able to do that for a long, long time.

Arsenal are welcome to sign him for 3-4 years, increase his current wages from 120k to 150k-200k and pay a sign on bonus ontop of that.

They are getting a ok player for a year, but I bet they are going to be regretting it after that 🙂

It was suspicious that Lamps said he was fit for the final but then the next day he was not involved. Did not want to cost himself the chance of EL next season.

Willian goes to Arsenal; you know he is going to have an absolute screamer whenever he goes against us.

I'll take my chances.

He never scored a league goal against Arsenal, and his only two league goals against Spurs came this season.

Would be disappointed to see him leaving to Arsenal. He's still a player that can give a team something in their game and experienced at all competitions.

I'd rather see him going to Barcelona or any other team just not to Premier League.

Anyways, it looks like he's on his way out.

I agree. I'd take my chances as well. I'm just saying you know he is going to be one of those players that just does well against us after he leaves.

Additionally, and it really shouldn't be too surprising, that's almost surprising about his scoring record against those two. I figured he would've snuck in a goal at someone point in the past.

I know what you meant. He's certainly capable of the once every couple of seasons blinder.

But as someone who will root against Arsenal, I can't help but hope he's taking minutes away from their up and coming talent and stunting their growth.

And if he isnt in the team on a regular basis, im hoping he shows the same maturity he did at Chelsea when he was coming off the bench.

All while hampering their ability to do business to address their defense.

If Arteta is smart,  he'll leave the front 3 alone, and put Willian in the midfield. He's basically a "box to box winger". Wouldn't most people call that a midfielder?

IMO he will lose pace in 6 months time and that alone will make him a worse player, I don't see him being at his best for much longer and he isn't really like Pedro that is going to do his best no matter when he comes in.

D.Luiz and Willian in Arsenal...Good for us I guess?

You would have thought they had learned their lesson with Ozil!

I was more talking about how long his legs will last, but you're right despite him being comparatively great during tough times like in 15/16 and during the restart, he really isn't good enough for us to challenge for trophies.

I think your front 3 need to some kind of goal scoring ability these days, and even Hazard who is more of a creator scores far more than Willian.

Could he transition into a CM at Arsenal? Asking because that's where Arsenal need most improving and it would explain Arsenal not stressing over his age...
