August 3, 20205 yr If he wants to go to Arse then good riddence. He's past his prime and in his prime he wasn't exactly brilliant.

He played as a CM under Jose for 1 game if I recall correctly and was absolute pants so that's a hard no.
August 4, 20205 yr Regardless of whether he's past his prime or not. It always rubs me the wrong way seeing our players join rivals. Especially in this case when we are making no money from any deal.

I'm the opposite, when players go to rivals to wind down after giving us their peak that's a huge nod of approval in my eyes (even more so now given who's coming to us in his place). I saw Cech and Luiz at Arsenal and pitied/pity the fans knowing they will never see them smash a CL final with them like they did with us, when i see Spurs fans talking about Jose knowing they will never see the charismatic dominant version we did i think it's brilliant. And when they try and lord it over us like they done a Bayern/any other German club on us poached these guys when on the up/in their prime makes it all the more hilarious.

Can't really fault a player who has given us years of service for wanting to remain in London as his family has settled down, seeking good wages to see him through his final years and also remaining competitive. He can't exactly go join Fulham now can he. As long as it's not Spurs, I really don't mind.

We saw against Arsenal we desperately missed a player who could receive the ball to feet under pressure, hold it and either win a foul or progress the play. Willian is exceptional at that. It's actually probably the key strength to his game. For me Ziyech and Werner don't have that in their game, they are better in the final third than Willian but in the tight games sometimes it's the grunt work that gets you over the line. I'd be happy to have him for another year, but I am unsure whether he will be willing to sit on the bench or play a rotation role. Last time that happened he was whiteanting Conte behind the scenes.

Izzy Brown? He's practically been doing what you described for Luton this season. 😀

Chelsea players going to Arsenal generally doesn’t work out well, he’ll probably be on massive wages and have a high signing bonus/agents and take up a lot of the funds that Arsenal traditionally nowadays don’t like to spend. Also we won’t have to be paying him to take sh*t corners anymore

Weak mentality from a footballer and happy to see him go if so. Your career is 15 years long, if you're willing to move to Arsenal when Barcelona are offering you a contract then you don't have the mentality of an elite sportsman.

At Arsenal he'll be one of their main stars. That makes a huge difference, nothing to do with weak mentality.

He was the back up under Sarri and didn't (to our knowledge) kick up a fuss. Infact come to think of it he fell out with Conte in the period he was starting the most under him, however as i said earlier i find it a little hard to judge Willian on that, Conte's behaviour that season was a lot worse and would have tested even Angel Gabriel's patience.
August 4, 20205 yr I think he's probably prioritising his family life over the 'glory' of sitting on the Barcelona bench for a couple of years. Only a complete w**ker would hold that against him.

A superstar would count on their own ability to work their way into the team, especially as he's been flirting with them for two seasons now. The bench for the best team in Spain is better than starting for a mid table English team on par with Sheff Utd and Burnley.

You're right, a lot of w**kers about champ.

He's said it himself, he wants 3 years, obviously money motivated. The woolwich are supposedly going to give that with possibly another year extension, well good for them. I'm glad we didn't commit to that, 4years at 150k/week. = £32m but some of his fan boys would pay it.

He's a hard worker but for the money he's on you want goals and assists and his numbers are below average. If he won't accept a couple of years playing where he has settled then it's best he goes as he's not all in for the cause. Rather we give the place to someone who wants to be here and prove themselves.
