April 26, 201511 yr Easily the most effective player going forward for us today, should have had an assist had Ramires taken a proper shot.
April 26, 201511 yr My MoM today, tireless effort in midfield and always trying to drive the team forward. Will have well and truly earn't his champions medal.
April 26, 201511 yr I've been critical of him in the past but he's a brilliant player. He has truly grown on me. Edit: Whatever he has for breakfast, I want some of it. Edited April 26, 201511 yr by Davey Baby
April 26, 201511 yr He did well running at defenders and beating them, but as usual then there was nothing at the end of it, either slowing it right down and passing it back, or just a poor pass. So you missed that perfect throughg ball that anyone but Ramires would have finished? i don't thint anyone shone in particular but I feel h was the best of the bunch going forwards.
April 26, 201511 yr there's talk of him not having an end product, but today he should have been the reason we walked away with 3 points... if only it fell to ANYONE BUT RAMIRES!
April 26, 201511 yr Put in an excellent shift today. Had 6 direct goal contributions last season, has 5 at the moment this season. I don't know if that's good enough to be the best team in Europe, but that's a problem for the summer.
April 26, 201511 yr You know what I liked about him today, he took people on. Been wanting him to do that for ages.

I don't know if that's good enough to be the best team in Europe, but that's a problem for the summer. I think we need him, I think Cuadrado will be better next season, we have two players on that right side now. The only thing I can think of what we could do with is a more creative player, to rotate with Oscar, just add something in the side, although we do need to sign another holding midfielder, get that then we can move Fabregas further up the pitch at times to rotate with Oscar. My Idea of keeping Willian is that we should hang on to those players who have gained success here, Willian and Oscar have played a bit part to us winning the title like it or not, we need champions like that in the side.
April 26, 201511 yr I Admit he had a better gaame than Haz today, but he so infuriates me, gets the ball, accelerates into space then stops and starts dithering on the ball, his pass to Rami was astute, but i want more from him!!
April 26, 201511 yr Our best attacking player by far yesterday, that run in the first half should have resulted in the goal, pity it wouldn't counted as an assist, because that was. He stood up against attackers really well, at times I thought he was a specialist defender.
April 27, 201511 yr I thought he was excellent, especially when we lost the ball. He broke up Arsenal possession so many times
April 27, 201511 yr For me he & JT were clearly our best players yesty & Willian just shaded Mr Dependable. Willian has come into his own the last 4 or 5 games & consistently showed us all what Jose sees him in. I get the feeling he must be very good on the training ground & he's clearly pretty adroit now with the tempo & speed of the league. That thru ball was an absolute pearl. And I feels his positioning during the games has improved markedly. So yeah - like Davy he's certainly grown on me.

I think that eventually you need to start looking to win games and not just avoid losing them. When people say that Willian was the best attacking player in a 0-0 draw, I think that highlights some issues. We have aspirations to be the best team in the world. We're the best team in a weakish English league but to make that step-up I don't think we can just rely on Eden as we have been in the last couple of months. I want to see more from Cuadrado to see if he can be that man and if he can't then we need to go get someone. Edited April 27, 201511 yr by Blue Daze
April 27, 201511 yr Bale, strirling, reus or stick. Outside of those 3 I'm not aware of any one else available that would be an upgrade on what we have. Yesterday willian contributed to us not conceding as much as any one else and he was the biggest threat in terms of creating a goal. Rami should have buried that, it's akin to the mistakes that TBO has made this season but keepers don't get forgiven
April 27, 201511 yr When people say that Willian's best attacking display was in a 0-0 draw, I think that says a fair bit. Who has said that?
April 27, 201511 yr Who has said that? Sorry, misread a post. Will edit immediately. Bale, strirling, reus or stick. Yesterday willian contributed to us not conceding as much as any one else and he was the biggest threat in terms of creating a goal. Rami should have buried that, it's akin to the mistakes that TBO has made this season but keepers don't get forgiven With Bale you're talking a £100 million commitment at least. We'd need to sell to afford that and out of Willian, Oscar and Cuadrado our most saleable asset is the one with the most potential. Sterling is half of that, he's English but you're again banking on potential. Reus is about the same price, has injury issues but is pretty much the finished article. Is he as effective on the right or does it not matter with the fluid approach we often take? Sticking is an option, but what are you expecting of Willian? He'll give you performances like yesterday but is that enough for us? Is that enough to be the best team in the world? Are we banking on him becoming a player he's never been before, a scintillating, explosive attacking threat or are we saying he's good enough? Are we content with stopping teams from winning and hoping to win on the break? It's been effective against some teams, but it also got exposed against PSG and Atletico. I think that the top teams in Europe can break down most parked buses 7 or 8 times out of 10. That's just my opinion but it roughly equates to Jose's success rate. Is that what we bank on?

April 27, 201511 yr Sorry, misread a post. Will edit immediately. Cudos for the honesty - we could do with more of that round here.
April 27, 201511 yr I find it a bit odd how differently you view Willian and Oscar. You praised Oscar and said he got his greatest reception for his defensive performance against Arsenal in the home match. But Willian putting in one of his best performances in a 0-0 highlights some issues? Because Oscar is younger than Willian but he also contributes far more over the course of a season than Willian does in an attacking sense and has increased that year-on-year. The thing is I do criticise Oscar and did so last season as well. He does need to be more consistent but I give him leeway because I think he has the potential to be one of the best players in the world - Willian doesn't. I'll also admit that I do focus on issues of FFP as well and that invariably feeds into my thinking on the issue. Willian is a £26 million player who has lost value in the time he's been here whereas Oscar would fetch a tidy profit. It obviously doesn't matter to the on-field stuff but it is something I do have in the back of my mind. Ultimately I think that it comes down to an issue of age and experience. Willian is the finished article, he's not really going to change much and so I judge him more harshly than I judge a player who is obviously still developing yet has put in numerous match-winning displays.

In the absence of a better option sticking is the best thing to do. All of my suggestions come with their own challenges but If you are unable to name a better option then sticking is the only option. Maybe the scouting team is aware of an unknown. As usual I expect people will throw around names of players they have barley seen play. There is a Ukraine winger with some great stats who is supposed to be handy, but I personally have not seen him enough to say he would be better. Last season a report had Curdrado as the 8th best winger in the world. So far he has not looked up to speed. Worse then that, Jose doesn't seem to trust him, already, the treatment being reminiscent of Salah and Andre. Willian whether you like it or not offers the team as a whole a great deal, is he the best, no but is he the best we have, quite possible and can we get better ? it's not looking likely.

I think we've been around the Ukrainian winger (plays for Dnipro I think, Konoplyanka or something...too lazy to google) but we do have Cuadrado and he should get a few complete games this season. I think we'll stick with him to be honest. Then there's Traore as a possibility, maybe Boga gets a chance on that wing....maybe even Lacazette but then you're in the realm of speculating wildly. I think that in fairness to Willian, you can win the CL with him but you need to defend perfectly and take your chances very clinically. That's a tough call which is why it rarely happens like that.
April 29, 201511 yr Absolutely superb tonight. Showed real pace, creativity and a willingness to take players on. Absolutely deserves a run in that position to see if he can do it on a consistent basis against the top teams, but delighted to see him show more than just workrate.
April 29, 201511 yr You know what I liked about him today, he took people on. Been wanting him to do that for ages. He's been doing that a lot more lately.
