Serious question... Is there a better player in the premiership this season? The only one close is Kun Aguero or our own Eden / Cesc!

It would be amazing if he started scoring more too. I think the difference in that city midfield and our's is yaya toure' goals. If matic would score more he would be even more formidable.

Matic and Toure play completely different role. Toure plays more of an CAM and less of Central mid whereas Matic plays CDM.

 

It's only a myth that Toure is a CDM.

 

If you want to compare him to a city midfielder compare him to Fernando or Fernandinho who plays CDM for them.

Yep, i would go with that. If Aguero keeps picking up injuries though it will be between Matic and Fabregas.

I would just like to thank Man City for buying Javi Garica which then allowed Matic to play more for Benfica and develop into the player he is today.

I like his temperament, very disciplined player, has the exact amount of aggression you want from a midfield player, doesn't go overboard.

 

He has played a huge part to our success so far no doubt about it, he is the exact player you need in the spine he definitely gets our game going.

Most important player in our side. We won't win matches without him.

For me Matic is unquestionably the player of the season for us. He makes it all tick. I lose count the amount of times a well timed tackle, interception or just his presence in front of the opposition leads to goals/chances at the other end. He makes out defense and attack look better just by being out there.

That goal today would not have happened without Matic turning the attack quickly the other way. It was really quite brilliant

Matic has been a brilliant player for us this season. He just has so much poise, calmness and confidence about himself.

 

His tackling ability is first class and is one of the best in the squad and the way he controls and patrols the midfield area is fantastic. The only game he hasn't played in this year we actually ended up losing to Newcastle. 

 

However in saying that Newcastle has been our bogey team for three seasons now so maybe his absence and loss to Newcastle was purely coincidental rather than it being a causal link.

No but I just mean that Courtois has done really well so he could be in a shout with player of the year for us to if he carries on in the same form I like Cech as much as Courtois and didn't mean anything against Cech when I said that

Yeah, he was poor. Sloppy, many mistakes, looked tired.

Matic is a fantastic player but probably had his poorest game in a Chelsea shirt today. Costa too.

No worries though. They have been superb this season so far.

I didn't intend it that way to be honest. Mikel has his place in the squad but when Oscar isn't in the team we lose something. That isn't a dig at Mikel so much me praising Oscar.

was always going to be tough for the new boys to maintain top form over xmas when they are not used to the English xmas fixture pile-up. matic and costa can both be forgiven for struggling to adapt. fabregas has obviously done it before so it's normal that he is able to adapt better and perform well throughout.

 

agree with most that matic wasnt great today, but it's just one of those games. he'll be in rip-roaring form in a few weeks when he's recovered
