Lots of positive noises from Jose about him and lofts cheek....really starting to believe he's more committed than ever to bringing youth players through

You mean this?

‘Ruben is a great example. He was never on loan. He was just working and waiting and now he knows next season he is a first team player.’   ::clap2::  ::clap2::  ::clap2::

Yeah and it's not the first time he's said it about Ruben, so is clearly not saying it for effect...that's why I'm a bit worried for Bamford...not once has he said he will be part if things, all he has said is he should concentrate on getting promoted with boro...and if he sees solanke as filling young striker slot, there is no room for him as well

Loftus-Cheek, Brown and a couple of others have been "first team players" this season though, training with the first team, on the bench a number of times and given squad numbers, doesn't mean they've played any games. Whilst I would like to believe Jose, I'll believe it when I see it.

Although he never talks about Bamford in the same way...not sure he is looking at him as a genuine contender for the squad or not

In Bamford's case perhaps Jose feels some 'tough love' is needed...

How is Solanke's 41 goals broken down? Because according to the U21 PL website he only has 10 in that competition which makes him =4th in the league.

In that context it doesn't look quite as impressive.

At youth level, Solanke continued to score at a prolific rate scoring 15 goals in 16 games before Christmas and finishing as top scorer in the group stages of the UEFA Youth League after a hat trick in the final group stage match against Sporting CP.[8][9] On 10 April 2015, Solanke scored a brace in the semifinal of the 2014–15 UEFA Youth League against A.S. Roma to send Chelsea into the final.[10] Solanke scored again against Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Youth league final ending the tournament with 12 goals in 9 games as Chelsea won the title.[11] On 20 April, Solanke scored a late goal to give his side a 3-1 win in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final against Manchester City.[12] With this goal, Solanke reached the 35-goal mark this season.[13] On 7 May, Solanke reached 41 goals for the season after scoring a hat-trick in a 4-3 victory over Liverpool U21.[14]

Would be great to see him get a start in one of the last 2 games.

Jose hinted he may just get it on Monday

I would think whoever does the best on loan between Solanke and Bamford could find himself in the first team squad next season. Good luck to both, let the battle commence. My money would be on Solanke breaking through of the two.

If you are right [in all respects] he's got at least another two seasons of this loanee business to look forward to... just to catch him up - and it wont matter how well he plays either.
