Liverpool v Chelsea (PL) 27/04/14 KO 14:05 BST

I was so looking forward to this game, pre Sunderland. Such a shame

Yep. Would have been an absolute block buster.

Now it feels like a game we need to get out the way.

I can't believe jose is going to field a weakened team. I think it's more mind games. Giving up on the title when a win puts us right back in the mix would be ridiculous. I know next wednesday is huge and probably our more realistic chance of silverware but we can still go for both. I think it's pretty obvious mikel and lamaprd will play along with probably ba.

Would love a win but can see a draw which confirms our exit from the race but gives city hope.

Never want to lose to the bin dippers and dont want to see them win the title. Not sure what the team will be but i think Matic,Lampard,Mikel and Salou will be involved. With Cech out and Schwarzer needed for Wednesday might we see him rested for this?I know Blackman is young but if Schwarzer gets injured we would be in trouble.Whatever the side it will get my full backing as the controversial Tuesday side did COME ON YOU BLUES!

To be honest, even if we field a good team, the message has already been put out to the players that this game doesn't matter - its Ath Madrid game that we care about. The board should as well.

I can't see the players being up for it one bit.

For Liverpool start:

                       Ba

Schürrle   -    MVG   -   Salah

            Matic    -    Mikel

Cole   -    Ake   -   Iva   -   Kalas

                   Blackman

Give Cole a chance to get back up to speed, give rest to most starters who are eligible for Atleti.

Then field this team against Atleti:

                    Eto'o*

Hazard*   -   Oscar   -   Willian

            Luiz   -   Rami

Cole©   -   Cahill   -   Iva   -   Dave

                   Schwarzer

* - if match fit

We could field a team as :

Gk

Ivanoic Luiz Cahill Cole

Matic Lampard

Schurlle Oscar Salah

Ba

Rest a few key players, still a strong team and should be able to get something out of the game. We are chelsea, we don't just go field a youth team and let them cop a 5:0 and dent their confidence.

I had a look at RAWK, the match thread seemed pretty subdued, I didn't come across the usual drivel. Nerves will be a factor in this, if we score first, we can easily see it out.

I say screw it hand christenson and ake a shot, maybe kalas too, throw in a youth team striker maybe or Ba. Use Mikel,Lamps,Matic,Salah (since they are all ineligible for CL 2nd leg). We bette rnot use hazard or eto'o and i'm sure we won't. No use risking aggravating an injury before  a big game with Atletico.

Not being arrogant or cocky, but so many teams have gone to anfield and scored goals, and even sunderland had them shook. We all know Liverpool start off fast, but they wane severely after 15-20 mins. I really believe that even if we go with a weakened side, we will get something from this game. Liverpool don't like to be the victims of the pressing game, but we press for 90 mins. I do see us coming away with something, if not a win, then a draw.

The following is taken from Giles Smith's Thursday Thoughts on the official website. Interesting team selection. The preacher has been outside the Bridge for many years. Admire him for his perseverance: He's even followed the team to at least one cup final in Cardiff

"My team to face Liverpool on Sunday: in goal, Bonetti. Back four, Harris, Webb, Leboeuf and the preacher with the microphone who does such a sterling job near the traffic island in the Fulham Road on matchdays. Holding duo: Alec Stewart and David Lee (who looked easily match-fit during his half-time pitch walk in the Sunderland match). Midfield: David Baddiel, Seb Coe and Johnny Vaughan. Up front: Neil Barnett.

No doubt people would look at that line-up and immediately accuse us of not taking the game seriously, but they might be better off waiting to see how it panned out. Even while racking up the victories, Liverpool have looked woefully thin and vulnerable at the back (they even conceded two goals at Norwich, for heaven's sake) and, with Coe using his pace to create mayhem, I'm imagining there would be plenty of spaces in behind Glen Johnson for the likes of Baddiel and Vaughan (pictured below) to exploit."

il be disappointed if we forfeit the title when we can mathematically still win it. if we beat Liverpool, the following week sees them travel to palace, where anything could happen, and city play away at everton missing silva and toure, and their record is terrible there.

This squad has played 2 games in 4 days loads of times, were not travelling abroad either.

After a long hard gruelling season I would be disappointed to throw away the chance of a league title because of politics. What happened to never say die.

Incidentally, this was the lineup the last time we rested people for the Champions League before a dead rubber (more or less) against Liverpool:  (we lost 4-1)

---------------------Turnbull

Ferreira-----Ivanovic----Terry-----Bertrand

--------Essien-----Romeu----Ramires

------Sturridge-------------------Malouda

----------------------Torres

(bear in mind that Ivanovic, Terry and Ramires were all suspended for the final)

Funnily enough it wasn't an issue when Robbie D did it...

Its a smokescreen and nobody should take it too seriously. I really think its just Jose being grumpy, pissed off and getting his excuses in early if we don't win. He's also visibly acting out at the FA to make them look silly, and rightly so.

I believe he will go full throttle to win this game and he will have the players pumped. He will start some subs, no question, but I think the team will still be very strong, especially considering our cup tied and suspended players will all feature. Later in the game if its not going well he will most likely bring on our 'bigger' players to try and get the points.

There's no way he'll field all the young guys and just give up. NO CHANCE. He hasn't been so ridiculously successful in his career by giving up when he's facing a big hurdle. He's the kinda guy that wants to jump over it, even if hes only got one good leg, just to give everyone the finger from the other side.

Spot on.

Well this is my first post on here... :-)

First off, I can't tell you how much I don't want Liverpool to win the league, if we can't stop them I want City to. So with that in mind I want us to put a decent team out, my team would be...

                                                      Swarz

                       Apzi                  Ivan         Cahill             Cole

                                         Luiz                Matic

                    Salah                     Oscar                   Schurrle

                                                  Ba

I'd love to play Willian but think he needs a rest before Wednesday and don't want to risk Hazard either. Slight concerns over Apzi too as he has played a lot of games this year.

Liverpool are beatable. Every team they have played, bar none have troubled them. If we keep it tight in the first half, frustrate them, break thier p0xy first half scoring run too...then try and open it up a bit more the second half, maybe bring Willian and Hazard on just to give it an extra change of pace.

well, tottenham didnt, we'll score at least one in the first half, then we'll sit back and allow you guys to have a crack at our sh*tty defence, its a brilliant gameplan for those who want to have a cardiac arrest at a young age
